Synchronising user-folders on 2 installations

Hi Is there a way that I can automatically synchronise 2 user folders on 2 separate installations? I am looking for something easy. I know I could go through LDAP or an external SQL database. I haven't looked at these options now. I played with OpenLDAP about a year ago and got frustrated. (Loads of crashes.) I do not want to learn (yet) how to use an external SQL database with Zope. (Although I have loads of experience with PostgreSQL, I am new to Zope and I try to minimise my learning curve for now.) Basically Site A is owned by customer A. on site B, I run sort of a service, which is tied into the machine and used by many customers. Because of my "sloppy" code the product/service is tied to its installation and for now I can not copy the product across. On site B, I want to have a "local" user folder, which is always updated, when the root-level user folder of site A is changed. Any ideas? Cheers Marc

In know this is purely speculation, but what about caching page-templates in some intermediate format like ESIS, and writing a lexical scanner for the TALES structure in C/Flex with callbacks to Python for code evaluation and object traversal? Obviously, this isn't trivial, but I imagine it would be interesting... Options for Server Side Includes

As part of the process of migrating content from other web servers to Zope I'm faced with a bit of a puzzle in regards to handling the server side includes used on the old system. I've found some comprehensive discussion on SSI with DTML, but we're only using Page Templates. I, of course, understand that tal:replace can be used, but I'm wondering if there are any other options. (Can't DTML be used in a Page Template? I thought I read that somewhere but it doesn't work...) The DTML examples are at least similar to our current usage. I'm concerned with the vast majority of our userbase who use server side includes, and if I can find a way to ease transition, well that would be spectacular. Anyone ever work on a problem like this? (We are running a Netscape server at present, so the SSI is of the format . I wonder if there was some way to get Zope to recognize this format...)

How to get image from DTML Method - alias RAM Cache idea for ImageTag Hotfix

Hi all, I want to create DTML method to make RAM-caching of ImageTag Hotfix. I was try to define cache engine into hotfix sources, but no success. But I think that it could be possible to cache via DTML Document, because here I could define properties which tell cache engine to cache object (image object does not have this possibility at least at Zope 2.5.1/Win32). So if I put binary result, not image name (=picture.jpg/thumb?width=300&height=180) of that mkthumb DTML Method: <dtml-var mkthumbpicid>/thumb?width=300&height=180 called as http://localhost:8080/mkthumb?mkthumbpicid=picture.jpg and if mkthumb method is RAM-Cached, then image tag hotfix is cached via this Names from the DTML namespace to use as cache keys: id width height option at cache tab. So all that missing me for hapinness is to know what to get binary (if content type will does not problem for Zope) from DTML Method. If I am wrong and RAM caching of ImageTag Hotfix is simpler than I imagine, I am sorry. Would you like to point me, please? Many thanks, J. Lukesh

quick table updating

If you are trying logging in from another machine. Might be you need to check firewall permissions on port 8080. Can't update properties of a custom product

Hi, I'm using Zope-2.6.1 with Python-2.1.3 on Debian GNU/Linux. I've created a custom "folder based" Zope product with several custom properties of several types : string, date, text, selection, boolean and tokens. When I try to update these properties from the common "Properties" page, I can read properties values but when I try to submit the form, Zope raises an exception : "String error: string index out of range". But everything is OK if I update the same properties from a custom form available to my site users !! This exception is not logged to the site error log, so I can't get any traceback.
