Thanks for the reply. I've had a look at all of them (it took some time - you guys have done some research!), and I think that the best one for us would still be PIDDLE, if I could get it started in Zope!! Copy objects from ZClass subfolder to instance?

Hello list, I have a ZClass with a subfolder "templates". On creation of an instance, I'd like to copy all objects from the zClass templates folder to the instance. I could not get it to work, always got an Unauthorized when trying to access the "templates" folder, although I activated the "Access contents information" and "Copy or Move" permissions... Any help would be appreciated! Security in the "File Server" example

Hi All, I have a site based on the "File Server" example given in the default zope installation. If you view /Examples/FileServer/Files you will see a list of files and be given the opportunity to upload a new file. The perl scripts and header info etc are contained in the /Examples/FileServer directory. I have no problem adding users, folders and files, the problem is that I want to restrict access to some of the folders, say allow user1 to access the /Examples/FileServer/Files/1 subdirectory but not be able to see the /Examples/FileServer/Files/private subdirectory. I can't use the classical heirarchical security format and create the user "user1" in the "/Examples/FileServer/Files/1" subdirectory as "user1" needs to see into the "/Examples/FileServer/Files" subdirectory to access the scripts etc. I've temorarily solved the problem by using roles. The user subdirectories /Examples/FileServer/Files/1, /Examples/FileServer/Files/2 etc do not aquire their security settings. A role is created for each user and that role given the required access in each subdirectory. This is very inelegant but I can't seem to do it any other way. Any thoughts would be appreciated, Kind regards Ian

searching for aword OR bword in a TextIndexNG

I have a catalog with an textindex "track" I want to select all catalog-entries which contain aword OR bword but res = catalog(track=["aword","bword"]) returns only records matching "aword" res = catalog(track=["bword","aword"]) returns only records matching "bword" So only the first word is searched for. Can I perform an OR with this syntax ? This is TextIndexNG 1.08 and Zope-2.6.1 or 2.5.1 under Linux. Strange Problem With Inline Frame (Probably OT)

Hi; I'm attempting to use an inline frame in a table. For some reason, the rendering engine (IE6.0) *insists* on putting the inline frame, which is the second of three <td> elements, proportionately very close to the right edge of the target area, despite the fact that I set align to left. Why? I'm not sure if this is due to IE or Zope, but there's a gremlin somewhere! I've made the inline frame ludicrously small for illustration purposes. if-then-else expression in Python

Currently, there is a heated debate in c.l.p about PEP 308, an "if-then-else" expression for Python. Some vote should decide its fate. I think, we want an "if-then-else" expression for Zope, as it would make decisions in TALES expressions much clearer and more robust than with the "... and ... or" hack or the "test" function which evaluates all arguments before testing (which confuses newbies). Do not forget to vote! Dieter

Where is the current SOAP action in Zope?

Recently Zope Corp. released news about their SGI case, in which Zope was integrated with J2EE through the SOAP protocol. I've been tasked to do a demo of this, which I would gladly post here when it is done. I've been trying to locate current activity for SOAP support in Zope and Python but have found mostly abandoned projects and dead ends. Researching the Zope 3 list I've learned that ZSI (http://pywebsvcs.sourceforge.net/zsi.html) is the most promising SOAP implementation for Python, but ZSI's homepage is unreachable (i've been unable to resolve the ZOLERA.COM domain). So here are my two questions: 1) Which SOAP product/module was used by ZC in the SGI project? (and where can we find it?) 2) If you had to pick one product/module for future SOAP development in Zope, which would you pick? -- Luciano
