accessing zclass properties

I have ZClass MyZClass in product MyProduct. MyZClass defines property sheet MyZClass_properties. One of the properties is a list (named 'MyList') with values 1, 2, 3 (3 numbers). I need to access that list from my TTW python script elsewhere in the system. I've noticed that I can't import "Products.MyProduct". Is there some other way to get at the data stored in the MyList property? I don't want to have to define my selection data twice. - Rocky (r0ky)

help! url <-> object mapping?

I am relatively new to zope. Thank you in advance for any help. here is my situation: user enters url zope maps url to object zope stitches together a frames html page according to my structure of inherited attributes. one of the html pages in the returned frameset needs to change itself depending on what type of object was asked for by the initial url request. I know I can get the initial requested url through the request object request = container.REQUEST and I know that all these objects have meta_type attributes. But how do I find a reference to the object to which zope has mapped the requested url that I can then test for its meta_type? I keep coming back to this bit of code in the page: fullpath = request.get('full') if not fullpath: fullpath = '0:%s' % url_quote(request.URL1) bookmarkid = context.db.get_link_id(fullpath) something related to the unique ID looks promising, but I have found no api that details the various methods available to call on the context or db objects. any help is appreciated. thank you.

NauSite product not appearing

I tried the product on 2 seperate machines, in both cases the product is not appearing, and all other products went well. Any idea why the product is not appearing? How to serve huge file/document?

Hello Sorry if this is well known but how can I serve big file with zope? Big is more than 1Gb, stored on the fileSystem and accessed with the LocalFs product. If I try to get a big file, it is fully reared in memory (I think) before being send, which cause unacceptable performance. ??? Gilles

passing variables with POST method

Hi, Does anyone knows if there's a method with ZOPE to pass variables through POST method, beside using forms? Starting Error of Zserver with Product ZExternalNews

Memory leak

I'm having some pretty severe problems with memory leaks, where the memory usage on my server is growing rapidly, then crashing Zope (every 2 days or so). When Zope crashes, it often restarts itself which isn't too bad if this was all that is required to get all services up and running again. However, I have to manually re-create a 'transient object container' in the temp_folder every time Zope is restarted. Also, when Zope goes down (or the memory is all taken up) it often takes out other services which don't automatically restart, such as ssh, telnet, mail etc. Obviously, the real answer is to stop the memory leak in the first place, so that Zope never has to be restarted. I'm running Python 2.1.3 and Zope 2.6.0 and I've read and followed much of the advice given on this mailing list re: memory leaks. For instance, I've set ZOPE_SECURITY_POLICY=3DPYTHON in my Zope startup script and checked the reference counts for various things, but can't spot anything that might be a problem. I also saw a 'memory leak possible solved' message which talked about indexing catalogs as being a problem. However, this didn't solve my problem. In my python scripts I often use request.set and session.set commands, and I read that they may be causing problems. I use these functions to pass variables between python scripts and dtml methods or other python scripts. I sort of understand why using these functions may be a problem - because there is nothing to clean them up once sessions are closed? What is the better way to pass variables around? Any help would be greatly appreciated, the mailing list seems to be running out of ideas on this topic. Thanks in advance.

It is quite likely, that you must define the CMF roles sufficiently up in the hierarchy such that they are known in your members folder. (Of course, this assumes, the roles-permission mapping needs no change across portals (in case you have several sharing on "Members" folder)). In case, the "Members" folder can be acquired and has name "Members", it might be sufficient to just delete the "Members" in your portal (this would mean, you do not need an additional product).
