problem: traversable but no aq_chain

Hi all I have a container product that stores aother product(TextDescriptions). The second product acts as descriptions of texts that are available for purchase (in paper form). These descriptions also contain another product that acts as reviews on the texts. All products inherit Item, Persistent and Acquisition.Implicit. The main product stores the descriptions in a dictionary of id:instance pairs, the descriptions do the same with the reviews. All products have an id as an attribute. The main product contains a __getitem__ method, as does the descriptions product. I can traverse to a description however a call to a mthod of the description product that returns the aq_chain displays as [,,,]. returning the descriptions dictionary returns a dictionary like {'text1':} the _p_changed variable is set to 1 after the dictionary is updated. Where is my acquisition? Why are the instances not showing up in the descriptions dictionary? Repetetive ZPT

I have the following bit of TALES code in one of my pages. It doesn't occur just once, it occurs multiple times, with the parameters at AAAAAA, BBBBBBB, CCCCCCC, and DDDDDDD changing between each occurrence: <tr tal:define="field form/AAAAAA; value request/form/field_BBBBBB|person/CCCCCCCCC|nothing"> <td class="label" tal:content="field/title">Label</td> <td class="field"> <input type="text" tal:replace="structure python:field.render(value)" /> <span class="formerror" tal:on-error="string:" tal:condition="showerrors" tal:content="structure python:formErrors['DDDDDD']"> Error </span> </td> </tr> Because everything else is the same, I'd like to factor the code out. I was thinking about macros, but using macros within tal statements or tags produces compilation errors. How else can I factor the above out and parametrise it? Still can't get PIL working properly

Hi, I've followed the document at http://www.zope.org/Members/regebro/PIL_zope and gotten a lot of help from this list, and have made progress, but still cannot get it to work in Zope. At the end of the doc mentioned above, after all the compiling is done, it says to: cp -r PIL *.so /the/zope/installation/lib/python/ to complete the installation. I did that, and still get the message that "The _imaging C module is not installed". I then did some Googling to see if something could shed light on this, and I found a (non-zope) site that recommended installing PIL in the [python]/site-packages directory, and to use "python -v" to help discover what was being loaded from where. So I tried that with the python 2.2 that RedHat installed, and ran "python -v" to start. The startup text included the version information "Python 2.2.1 (#1, Aug 30 2002, 12:15:30)". File Uploads et al

Morning all, I've only just installed Zope, so trying to find my way around. I'm evaluating Zope and thus far I'm impressed. But, as is usually the case, I have a couple of question. We have a requirement to allow users to upload a large number of files on a regular basis. These files are created by an application we wrote a long time ago. And the file names and the number of files vary. 1) When a user uploads a file, where are the file contents stored in Zope? I'm assuming the ZODB database. 2) How can I provide the user the option of storing uploaded files to a directory on the server (directory defined by manager, may be user specific, or common to all or group), with a link to (or object representing) the file in the user's folder? 3) What are the security implications of the above scenario? 4) Or, as in (2), alternate storage is chosen automatically - if the file is larger x kb, it's stored in an alternate location/storage. Which Python script in Zope handles uploads? 5) Ideally, I'd like to be able to store the file in a database that's capable of handling BLOBs, such as Berkeley. Any suggestions? 6) Sometimes, we need to upload the contents of a directory, and not just an individual file. The exact contents of the directory can vary. Any easy way of doing this? Reminds me of things I forgot to mention in my first email. I've uninstalled/reinstalled Plone/Zope once already. Uninstalling/reinstalling ActivePython is not feasible, because the number of modules installed is LARGE. So worst case scenario - I move Data.fs, uninstall Plone/Zope, install plain vanilla Zope. Or keep running the Plone/Zope service from the commandline... Any way I could get a verbose Python-esque listing of what happens when the service is started? Thanks. However ActivePython writes all information it needs to run into the registry. Either plone at installation time or windows at runtime reads this settings. You could try to uninstall Active python and the reinstalling plone a second time. If there is somethin you want to have preserve from the first installation: Just copy the file var\Data.fs to a save place befor the reinstallation. I just did the install on one of may machines last night. In the imaging library directory ... ./configure make cd .. $ZOPEHOME/bin/python setup.py build $ZOPEHOME/bin/python setup.py install should do the trick. You *must* use the python used for Zope so everything gets installed in the right place.

I've only just installed Zope using the Plone installer, so I'm fairly new at this. I'm evaluating Zope for our org, been going through the Zope Book, and thus far I'm impressed. But, as is usually the case, I have a couple of question. And some problems. I have ActivePython 2.2.2 installed on WinXP. After installing Zope/Plone, the Plone controller is unable to start the service. It "sees" python22.dll, and the path to Python 2.2.2, and gives the corresponding error. I've removed python22.dll as well as other python related dlls from the system folder, but it doesn't seem to help. I also deleted all python related environment variables. Also, Python 2.2.2 is not on my path. Right now I'm running the service from the command line. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks. Regards, Samir Mishra

I think I figured out part of the problem. I created a user at root and defined a local role of Manager for the tutorial. That seems to work. How do I get Anonymous to show up in the list of users? Or rather, can I? Is there a better way of doing this? Thanks.
