Hi, Is there a way to call products from index_html? I am looking to use ExtFile. The product is what I want but I want to avoid users having to log into the management interface. Can this be done? Newbie: Simple Formatting floats in DTML

I know this is a very simple question, but after searching the zope site and lists I still have not found an answer. I need to format a great deal of floating point numbers for accountants to read, so need them using thousands_commas and if they are negative, display them in parentheses without the - sign. eg 1004 = 1,004.00; -25436345.74 = (25,436,345.74) I could write a python script to do this, but I thought there was probably a parameter, similar to thousands_commas, (like negative_brackets, say) that could to this for me. newline in string arg to python script

['w', 'h', 'a', 't', ' ', 'h', 'a', 'p', 'p', 'e', 'n', 's', ' ', 't', 'o', ' ', 'm', 'y', ' ', 'n', 'e', 'w', 'l', 'i', 'n', 'e', 's', '?'] [119, 104, 97, 116, 32, 104, 97, 112, 112, 101, 110, 115, 32, 116, 111, 32, 109, 121, 32, 110, 101, 119, 108, 105, 110, 101, 115, 63] The newlines have been converted to spaces. How can I tell a space from a newline? My final goal is to inline some python code without having to use a bunch of    in each snippet. Implementing a website using zope

Hi, I have build a website using asp and want to reimplement this in zope. (reason: Zope knowledge) It basically works like: 1) user logs in to the system using organisation code and password. *) depending on the organisation code the user has admin, restricted admin or user priveleges 2) user selects his name from a list 3) user selects from a collection of subscribed (to the organisation) lists a list. 4) user fills in the list and submits his answers. *) user is presented the results of his answers and answers of other users within the organisation. When loggin in as an admin organisation it is possible to: - add/edit/delete an organisation - subscribe an organisation to one ore more lists - create/modify lists - delete users from organisations Is it possible to create such a project not by writing a zope product but fully through the zmi and fully using the ZODB (no SQL)? And where do i start ? what are the best practices in implementing such a project in Zope? Too many questions i have and too little knowledge. Please help, Daniel

Hi Thanks for your help. Now I can get RemoteUserFolder in Zope but how can I link it to a directory (or to the Root Folder)? At first I tried to add a RemoteUserFolder for a test directory under the Root Folder. I succeeded, now there is a Remote User Folder object but how can I make it active? I just want that if I change the Security tab on a document so that only authenticated users should view it than anybody who's in the Alternative User Object Folder should have the right to view it and nobody who's not in it. Is there a way to replace the original User Folder object with the Alternative User Folder i want to use? I'm afraid that after I just simply delete it from the root folder i couldn't add the replacement because then I won't be able log in as admin. I'm sorry about the idiot questions. Performance-wise, wouldn't partitioning your storages have the _potential_ to be a win if you were able to distribute transactions onto different ClientStorages on different dedicated ZSS nodes, assuming heavy usage? At what point does one want to worry about the ZSS as a performance bottleneck (or should one worry at all)? I've always thought partitioning via multiple, mounted storages would be the answer, but I've never known enough to confirm or deny this? There is no measurable difference in performance unless you mount a large number of databases. The MountPoint._setDB() and MountPoint.close() methods are the issue here: they have to open/close all mounted connections, even if they won't be used in the course of a transaction. There are surely ways to improve this.
