I found this in my stupid.log. anybody know WHAT it this? Checking object's class

Hi, I use custom Zope products written in Python. In several cases, I have to check for published object's class and adapt several front-end parameters according to it. My questions are simple : - is it better to test for "object.meta_type" or "isinstance (object, class)" (concerning performances as well as the possibility to create subclasses) ? - as long as subclasses are not to be created from ZMI but from another backoffice, is it possible to use the same "meta_type" for a class and all it's subclasses ? Data.fs error on Pack

Hi, I tried to pack my Data.fs file from control panel. It is on freebsd, zope2.6 and Data.fs is 49.5MB. A permission denied occured on the file because i had incorrect permission set. ie. zope process was owned by a different user than was Data.fs. The following error occurs now when i access zope. Site Error An error was encountered while publishing this resource. exceptions.ValueError Sorry, a site error occurred. Create top-level folder

Part of my product's job is to create a top-level folder. Currently, I can only get it to create the folder in what ever folder the product is added in. I would like to be able to get access to the root directory object but don't know how. How do I access the root directory object? Would 'getPhysicalRoot' do that? This is also a problem on Solaris; this has been known for quite a while (noted in http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Misc/InstallingZope.html) but such mention doesn't include any other Unix using a non-GNU tar, though doc/FAQ.txt (in Zope distributions) question #1 addresses this a bit more generally. Hi. You may want to update the Installation Instructions to reflect that HP-UX v11.00 or 11.11 (11i) also require the use of GNU tar for Zope. The bundled tar under HP-UX imposes a pathname limitation of about 100 chars however it does /not/ complain when encountering a long pathname. It merely cuts the pathname to the maximum and happily proceeds which causes a lot of headaches when trying to get it going. /e
