+1 I have an application that needs a performance boost that this might offer over my existing workaround. In my application, I have online classified ad listings for real-estate listings(perhaps thousands in any given category), and need to sort on a geographic area, and then on a title. My current strategy is to do my own smart-but-bloated multi-pass sort of the entire result set for each request, then display batches using that result set, which uses more RAM and CPU than I would ideally like. OFSP is a product that comes with Zope that provides the necessary machinery to allow you to add folders and 'versions' (ZODB versions, which are long-running-transactions that usually cause more trouble than good) in the Zope Management Interface. Code in lib/python/Products/OFSP also makes it possible to use ZClasses to subclass a folder or other classes defined in lib/python/OFS, as well as use these classes in the ZMI. If you want to add new folders programmatically, you can call the factory method defined for Folder from a through-the-web Python Script object: context[id].manage_addProduct['OFSP'].manage_addFolder(id='123', title='title') FYI, if you try to do this and the folder is already there, you will get an error, for which reason you may want to consider wrapping this in a try/except pair that deals with any exceptions if you try to run a script that creates folders (either that, or give your folders meaningfully unique IDs). Security Problem

I have a Zope server running with two instances of plone, "Plone1" and "Plone2". plone2 is a demo site with a user "Demo" having the role 'Manager' available to the public. plone1 is a regular plone site. If I log in to plone2 as the user Demo, then go to the following url: http://my.server/plone2/plone1 The permissions are acquired from the demo site giving full Manager access to my main plone site. This is obviously a serious problem. Any ideas how I can stop the permissions from being acquired under that situation without breaking anything? -James.

Call Product Constructor

This is the __init__.py of my product (ZID): from ZIDProduct import ZID def initialize ( context ): context.registerClass( ZID, constructors = ( ZID.manage_addZIDForm, ZID.manage_addZID, ZID.manage_add_folder ) ) I want the constructor ZID.manage_add_folder to get called at the end of the initialize function. who is using webdav to build zope site?

Hello I am just curious: I try to use webdav to edit my web-sites (it was looking more promising than the external editor). Up to now I have tried the Jedit Dav plugin and skunkdav. Skundav seams much more useful. Question: what is the best (free) webdav client/editor that you have used? Thanks Gilles

I haven't used it, but I think ExternalEditor lets you launch an editor like DreamWeaver to edit an HTML document w/o the need to explicitely download it. Matt

Zope PCGI under OSX

I'm trying to get Zope to run with Apache on my OSX machine (10.2.4), but I can't figure out how to configure PCGI. I've compiled the pcgi-wrapper executable, but I'm not sure if it works - is there a way I can test it? The zope server is currently running under it's own user named 'zope' and I can access it normally under port 8080 - including the management screens. I don't seem to have a Zope.cgi (or pcgi) file created after I installed Zope 2.6.1 from source. newbie - howto get a local javascript file to become a object in Zope

Hi First I would like to excuse those stupid questions, but allthough Im trying its hard to find the information elsewhere. I have a javascript file located at my local harddisk and I want it to become an object in zope. I have already tried to use manage_addFile, but it doesnt seem to find the file. In Zope mangement view its easy enough to create a txt-file and get it on working, but when I want to do the exact same thing in a Product created with Python, it just wont! So far I have also tried to find some other objects that I might use instead of manage_addFile, but havent succeded yet. any idears? Regards Danny Nielsen

ZopeTree: another patch

Hi Philipp and all Herewith, another patch against ZopeTree-1-1. It corrects a bug in the previous patch, and changes the functionality to allow pre-expanded trees. What the patch does: - TreeObjectWrapper.__init__: signature changed to (self, obj, path=None), making path optional and getting it from obj if not provided. (Breaks backward compatability.) - ZopeTree.__init__: expanded_nodes=[] added as keyword argument, so that the tree may be primed by passing in a list of expanded nodes. If request_variable is on request, the tree has been browsed, and request_variable overrides expanded_nodes. If ZopeTree is passed a TreeObjectWrapper instance, get path from it; otherwise get it using getPhysicalPath. It works better (oowriter.exe starts) since I put the following line: editor="F:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org1.0\program\soffice.exe" "%1" into ZopeEdit.in (Thanks to Paul!) but: after oowriter.exe has been started, I get the error-message: "ExternalEditor lost connection to Editor Process".
