I am trying to find out if there is a way to convert HTML into Zope and Zope into HTML.

Newbie question: Log out completely

In our website, there some pages that could be accessed only by members. So if member want to access this pages they have log in first. The problem is, when they log out, if they don't close the browser, anyone could press 'Back button in the browser then access the members' pages. Can anybody give me a hint, how to prevent this? I could be inform members to close browser when they log out, but just in case they forget this :) FYI, I used exUserFolder to provide authentication to our site. Thanks. -mico-

WebDAV+Netscape Composer fails when updating pages.

Hello all: I am trying to use Netscape 7.02's Composer (because that is what the customer uses, and won't change... in case you wonder, no options here) product to edit simple pure HTML (no DTML at all) pages on a Zope system with WebDAV enabled (parameter -W 8900 at ~/z2.py). When the file to be edited is new within Zope (i.e. there is no previous object with that name), everything works perfect. The document gets created and its accesible from any other object in Zope (permissions and roles taken into account.) If we publish from Composer to a previously created page in Zope, Composer reports a succesful "publishing" but actually the file never changes in Zope. The log entries in Z2.log with this actions are: When creating the file: (works fine) 127.0.0.1 - man [20/Apr/2003:03:05:25 -0500] "PUT /folder/dox/P-OP-000099.html HTTP/1.1" 201 233 "" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.0.2) Gecko/20030208 Netscape/7.02" When "updating" the pre-existing file. (no err reported, neverthless object is NOT changes/updated): 127.0.0.1 - man [20/Apr/2003:11:22:29 -0500] "PUT /folder/dox/P-OP-000099.html HTTP/1.1" 204 236 "" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.0.2) Gecko/20030208 Netscape/7.02 The above behavior happens both, using a "Manager" level account in Zope, which can read/write anywhere in the Zope tree and also with a normal User account. It also happens no matter where in the Zope tree this is done. Any suggestions of what may be happening with using WebDav to publish web pages, specially UPDATING pre-existent pages in a Zope system ? Thanks in advance. Felipe Barousse.

Hi, I have a Keyword Index setup in a Catalog, and when I search for more than one keyword using a query such as {'query':['one', 'two'], 'operator':'and'}, and there are no indexed records with either of the keywords, all records in the Catalog are returned. ZEO hogging too much memory

Hi all, I had a nightmare with my ZEO setup last night. Had to drive to the data center to clean up the mess... in wee hours. (3AM) The ZEO server has 4G RAM and running on RedHat Linux 8 with 2.4.0 custom kernel. Thought it was plenty. I have one ZEO client with 2G RAM ZEO server: 4G RAM, P4 Xeon Dual (RH Linux with 2.4.0 kernel) ZEO client: 2G RAM, P3 tualatin Dual (RH Linux with 2.4.0 kernel) It seems that the server never stops caching the objects it serves into memory until kswapd chimes in and starts paging away. kswapd was hogging all resources left and I had to reboot. I wasn't able to type a single keystroke remotely. argh.. a remote reboot attempt failed miserably... I did some research and found many reported problems with kswapd and kernel 2.4.0. What I'm worried about though is why ZEO let this happen. I did some experimentation after a clean reboot: adding and reading objects to the ZEO storage with the top utility running on a console. After an hour, ZEO was using more than 2G of RAM. The objects are just simple CMF/Plone stuff: documents and small sized images with no heavy-weight files. The traffic? Minimal. As I was the only one adding and reading stuff. And this might be a real stupid question but, when I flush cached objects using a ZEO client's management screen, what am I flushing? Objects from the ZEO server's memory or client's? Flushing objects didn't free up any memory on the ZEO server. Anybody ever had similar problems with ZEO (or Zope per se) hogging resources? How can I limit the number of objects the ZEO server itself is caching? Thanks once again for all of your advice - and sorry for tying up so much of your time. It is very much appreciated. Having just arrived home from work, I don't have code that I could paste, and I am not entirely certain what you mean, so I'll try to explain the best I can. In dtml the dtml method calling the external method function, it is called with the 2 parameters I listed in the dtml-let previously. In the function definition in the actual python module (in the Extensions folder), the self parameter is now the first parameter listed, so: def run(self, fileID, lines) # if I remember rightly After changing this, I just clicked save changes in the ZMI screen for the External Method I don't know of anywhere else I should have defined the parameters, so hopefully that is about it. Regarding the advice on function names, thank you for that. Of course it makes perfect sense, and should be obvious to anyone with some sense! You shouldn't be. Just make it the first parameter in the external method _code_. Don't change the external method object or the DTML code that calls it. Let's see where that gets us... Dylan PS - On a tangent, it's a really good idea to get in the habit of giving your functions specific, descriptive names (like "create_pdf()") rather than naming them after a module they import or using common terms like "run()" (a name which is used elsewhere in the language). Nothing should have changed here. I thought I needed to do this to "refresh" the method as an object in Zope. I better explain what I mean .. after saving the python file in Externsions, I thought that the external method object in Zope (ie. sping2 .. or whatever I called it) needed to be refreshed to look again at the contents of the "run()" function, I guess I'm wrong. He folks, I verified now, that the following lines in the standard.py caused my problems: --> 'restructured_text', from DocumentTemplate.DT_Var import special_formats, \ whole_dollars, dollars_and_cents, structured_text, sql_quote, \ html_quote, url_quote, url_quote_plus, newline_to_br, thousands_commas, \ url_unquote, url_unquote_plus, restructured_text ---------------------------------^ I installed the restructured Text Module. I didn't check after each installed product if all sites were working and I did not realize that the standard.py module got changed.
