Since Zope publishes HTML, all you need to do is save the source you get back when you make a request. If you need to save a lot of docs, you may want to look into a spider that will save a local copy of any web site you point it too. Really, this isn't a Zope issue at all. If you want to save the HTML Zope produces, you need only do so. Dylan

I've never understood why anyone would use CatalogAware given that CatalogPathAware works quite well. Is there even any reason to justify its existence in Zope at all other than backward-compatibility? What do we want in the way of Zope binary distributions?

Hi, With the new Zope 2.7 install and configuration stuff (currently on the Zope trunk), ZC needs to redo its mechanisms for Zope binary distribution. Currently, ZC distributes binaries for Win32, Linux, and Solaris on Zope.org. The Linux and Solaris distributions are in the form of a tarball containing binaries. The Win32 distribution contains an executable installer generated by WISE. I'd like to propose that ZC drops the "generic" Linux binary distribution in favor of an RPM distribution that would be "guaranteed" to run on the latest Red Hat release or the one before it, but might also work on Mandrake, etc. It's getting a bit scary to try to distribute a "generic" Linux binary release (who knows what's different about each?), and we really don't have the resources to do a functional test of the binary release on every Linux platform. Additionally, most Linux distributions typically come with all the required tools to compile Zope from source, and compiling Zope from source is now a matter of 'configure; make; make install'. If people don't want to do this, they can install the RPM or their distribution's repackaging of Zope (ala Debian). I also propose we drop the Solaris binary distribution in favor of providing instructions to Solaris folks about how to compile and install the source package. This might be the most contentious proposal: I really have no idea how many people use the Solaris binary distro. The Win32 binary release should likely stay much like it is. I'm not sure about the "upgrade" release packages. Does anybody use these? Comments? - C

Chris, thanks again for your help, although I'm not sure I know exactly what you mean (my stupidity as opposed to anything else!). Again, if I define, or over-write the lines variable inside the External Method, (ie lines=[], lines.append ...) then it works fine, its just when it retrieves lines from request, or it is passed as a parameter. Dynamic url generation for content with zope site

Hello All, Need some help, trying to dynamically generate links on my homepage with content that is ftp-ed to my site. I have played with cataloging items, I am having no problems with news_items, file, document etc. \ The problem is when I try to use 3rd party products. IE: MSWORDDOCUMENT. I believe the product MSWORDDOCUMENT needs to be index into the catalog when a new content of type MSWORDDOCUMENT is created. And if edited it needs to be reindex. I don't know if this is the best practice to accomplish my goal? Thanks in advanced. TP

Hi. I need to write a Page Template with a conditionally selected <OPTION>. In DTML I would write <select name="numero_bimestre"> <option value="1" <dtml-if expr="propertysheets.props.numero_bimestre==1">selected</dtml-if>>gen-feb</option> <option value="2" <dtml-if expr="propertysheets.props.numero_bimestre==2">selected</dtml-if>>mar-apr</option> ... </select> Well, I don't find a way to do this with "tal" statements. Adding LDAPUserFolder

Hello, I've installed LDAPUserFolder 2.1 and I'm trying to instantiate the LDAPUserFolder within my Plone portal. The problem I'm having is that I fill in all the fields in the create menu for the LDAPUserFolder, but when I click "add" it seems to fail silently. At least, the LDAPUserFolder doesn't get created and it doesn't fail with any errors. How the heck do I debug this if I can't get at least some sort of error? I've looked at the help pages and the README's but I'm not getting any sort of info there that will help me with this. I'm filling in the Add LDAP User Folder with the following values: Title: LDAPUserFolder LDAP Server[:Port] 111.75.75.70:389 Read-only (checked) Login Name Attribute: UID RDN Attribute: UID Users Base DN: ou=occupations, oc=departments,ou=personnel, dc=myclient,dc=ie Scope: Subtree Groups Base DN: oc=groups,dc=myclient,dc=ie Groups Storage: Groups stored on LDAP Server Scope: Subtree Manager DN: manager Password: mypasswd Use Password Encryption: crypt Default User Roles: Anonymous Anybody have any suggestions?
