Dylan, Thanks very much for the reply. AFAIK, there is absolutely no change made to lines before trying to use it, but I'll put a bit more detail in here, so someone can no doubt prove me wrong! Most likely, something you've done on lines 2-27 has changed the value of lines to None. Look extra carefully at any and all assignments you make in the external method. In particular, it's possible you may have committed a common error with lists, ex: a = [1,2.3] b = a b = None # now the value of a is None! Accelerating images without proxy

Hi I have been asking about database cache parameters recently here. The replies received recommended using squid as a reverse proxy. However, the site I am trying to accelerate has large areas, which are password protected and configuration of squid looks like a minor nightmare. I have analysed the problem and I believe I could get a major boost if we could just cache some images. There are about two dozen images, mainly logos and navigation images that are used on almost every page. If I could just cache these, that should help a lot. (We are not in control of the HTML! Believe me, I do not consider this good practice. But it was a major reason why we were able to convince the customer to use Zope because it allowed for his preferred designers to do the HTML; we only did the "functionality".) I looked into the various internal mechanisms (Accelerated HTTP Cache Managers, Cache-tab on image object) and read the help. But I'm still not sure if this is helpful. The help text constantly tells me that some operations using cache can backfire and become more expensive. Can anybody share any light on this issue, please? Cheers Marc

Attribute Error with Container

Hello all, I'm trying to make a Python script that checks the value of ZClass property (within a property sheet). What I am doing is very similar to the example implementation of "isHungry" in "The Zope Book". However, I am getting an error (error type: Attribute Error, and error value: SensoryProperties), when I try something equivalent to the following: if (container.SensoryProperties.taste == "good"): return 1 else: return 0 Does anyone have a clue what this might be? I assume that since "container" is a bound name I don't need to do anything special to "enable" it. I would appreciate any help or direction that I could be given. ~Mark

Create links for newly uploaded page templates

Hello everyone, I have recently been trying to do this and am not getting far. I want my sites homepage to have links to all new uploaded page templates/dtml/3rd party products to my site that are being ftp-ed on a daily basis. I have used the following code which works great for content that is listed in the portal_types: ( I got the code from zopelabs.com) <div metal:fill-slot="main" tal:define="results python:container.portal_catalog(meta_type=[ 'Document', 'Event', 'Image', 'News Item', 'Link', 'ZWiki Page', 'Book', 'Forum', 'Photo Album', 'CMFQuote', 'Blog Entry' ],sort_on='modified',sort_order='reverse'); Batch python:modules['Products.CMFPlone'].Batch; DateTime python:modules['DateTime'].DateTime; b_start python:request.get('b_start',0);"> The code works fine for the listed items Document, Event, Link etc. But if I add the meta_type page template in the list it does not work. I want to be able to show links to uploaded/ftp-ed such as dtml, page templates, and other 3rd party products. Do I need to create portal_types for each of these items. If so how do I do that? I have used all the examples that JCLawrence has provided on zopelabs.com. They work great for portal_types that have Factory-based Type Information. But I could not find any code on page templates, or dtml pages. Can someone help? Thank you TP

How to upload an image?

Hi there, I'm trying to provide an editors' interface for front-end users, who I don't want to allow access to ZOPE management console (for obvious reasons - if you've ever developed for managers and marketing, you'll understand).. :-)) Right now, my problem is an interface for adding 'NEWS-like' items - press releases, announcements etc. Errata: No problem with item creation, but I need to enable users to add a single image to the news item. I read tons of stuff from wannabe-tutorials to fairly complex solutions (Python libraries etc.).. and I'm only getting more confused. Is there a simple and reliable solution based on DTML or simple Python? e.g. <dtml-call "manage_addImage('imagename',$REQUEST.form['imagefile'])"> ..? Given that this is a pretty common problem, i suspect somebody's had to solve it already. I'd be really happy if you could give me a hint or a link to really *WORKING* howto.. or a demo in ZEXP would be really amazing help. Some kind of Virtual hosting via IIS does not help you? If not, you could try pound linux reverse proxy (www.apsis.ch/pound) But you need a small (486-100/16MB enough) linux machine. But when I click that link Zope Management Interface I get http://localhost/CGI-Bin/manage and there is no manage subfolder in CGI-Bin Page Not Found.
