Installing CMFOODocument

I am trying to install this for the second time. My problems are with the libxml2-python and libxslt-python modules. These are installed via RPM however my Zope tarball came with Python 2.1.3. I suppose this is good since this is what I need. I have 2.2 on my machine which is clearly not compatible. I thought I could copy the libxml2.py, libxml2mod.so (version 2.4.23-1), libxsltmod.so and libxslt.py (1.0.19-1) files (xml/xslt python bindings) to the Zope/lib/python directory. Maybe I put these in the wrong place (I'm no python guru and could find no obvious hint of where to put it). Maybe I should have copied other files as well. I tried calling these librairies through the 2.1.3 python version in the Zope/bin dir - although all I did was import them and dir() them. Do they need access to their /usr/share/doc/libxml2-python-2.4.23 and xslt equivalent directories? Should I create a symlink to these dirs in the /lib/python dir? FreeBSD port status?

Hi, I am using Zope on FreeBSD. I am waiting until the FreeBSD port will be updated to 2.6.1. (it still is 2.6.0). I mailed the port maintainer but I never got reply. Does anyone here know why it is not maintained? (and the same for the plone port?) Newbie: Call Overridden Mehod

Hi when I create a ZClass with more than one base class, is there a way I can call a method that has been overridden by an other class that has that same method? I made a ZClass with DTMLdocument and ObjectManager as base classes. These two classes have the manage_main method is there a way I can build views to both the manage_main methods? Thank you

Using the authenticate method of an authenticated user

I am trying to use the authenticate method to determine if a user is entering the same password as the one they currently have. I have a form that allows the user to change their password. So, after the user authenticates(i.e. starts a Zope session), they navigate to this form and type in their new password. After the form is submitted but before changing the user's password, I would like to check if the password they are entering is different from the one they currently have. If it is not, I redirect them to another page informing them that they have to enter another password. To check if the password the user has entered matches their current password, I use the following statement in a DTML method: <dtml-if expr "acl_users.getUser(name).authenticate(password, REQUEST)"> However, using this statement gives me an error that reads the following: Error Type: Unauthorized Error Value: The container has no security assertions. Network Appliances NetCache vs. Squid

My host has offered me to try accelerating a busy zope-based site using a Network Appliances NetCache. He kept the device from a customer which went bankrupt. Neither of us has any experience with the device. If anybody can share some insights in regard to Zope and how this compares in use something like Squid as a reverse proxy, I'd be most thankful. On that note, what are the issues of running squid on the same machine as the Zope instance to be cached? Are substantial gains only achieved if Squid sits on its own box? Cheers Marc

SOAP/XMLRPC help

Hi all: I have changed the implementation of SOAP (like the XMLRPC does). I have used SOAP.py (from the pywebsvcs.sf.net) I can call a method that returns me a list of strings (ids). The first time it works fine, but the next times it fails with the next error: If I invoke the same method with XMLRPC all works ok... I don't know how ZPublisher works internally. Can anybody help me to debug the problem? TransientObjectContainer: delNotificationFunction's and Transactions

Hello all, I just found, that Transactions started in the delNotificationFunction's of TransientObjectContainers (in my case a SQL command to purge a transient object from an SQL database) are never commited but seem to be automatically aborted. After adding a call do get_transaction().commit() (which is not directly callable from a PythonScript ... Grmpf ... why not?) everything works. I just want to ask, whether this is desired behavior or if I should open a collector issue against TransientObjectContainer?
