ZSQL dtml request problem

Hi, I'm trying to push the last_inset_id from an Insert statement onto the request namespace, so I can pick it up and retrieve the new record for display. My ZSQL method looks like this. INSERT INTO suppliers (insert statements removed) <dtml-var sql_delimiter> SELECT last_insert_id() AS lastinsertid <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('id',lastinsertid)"> It comes back with a NameError - global name 'lastinsertid' is not defined. How do I either get the dtml-call to see the lastinsetid variable, or grab the value by using the sql statement inside the dtml-call statement. It's driving me mad Cheers Michael

You're trying to call youremail out the scope of where it's defined. In the first block the input is within the TD block where youremail is defined. In the second block the youremail is called within another TD block outside of the TD block where youremail has been defined. Something else you may want to think about is to stop using tables for layout control. This also gives you a nice clean seperation of structure vs. look and feel and more flexibility in future maintenance. Using the FONT tag and Tables for layout is for the past and should probably only be used if you absolutely have to support IE4/NS4 and below. Fortunately about 98% of the market right now is IE5+/NS6/Opera. Q: User acquisition with exUserFolder

Hi, I'm working on a Zope application where I need different user folders at different parts of the site. Furthermore, I need subfolder to acquire users from superfolders, which works fine with standard (HTTP) authentication, with both the standard Zope User Folder and exUserFolder. However, I use exUserFolder's Cookie based authentication, because my users are more comfortable with a login form and proper logout. When I use that, exUserFolder no longer acquires users from "upper" user folders, even other cookie based exUserFolders. Is this a bug or a feature of exUserFolder? In either case, is there a workaround? thanks in advance pA

Distributing applications

Hi, I am starting to use Zope and probably my question is too simple (sorry): If I create a web application on a server and want toinstall it on different machine, do I need Zope installed in this second server? Even more, if the first server is Linux and the second one Windows, can I install my application in the Windows Server? I havent found a clear answer for my questions in the web. Thanks, Ernesto.

One other point to consider...when you are coming from an RDBMS world and stepping into the object oriented world you will need to make a paradigm shift in thinking when designing you db/product/site. The object oriented nature of the ZODB provides some huge advantages once you grok it (not that I do fully). Python is your friend. That does not mean that you can always eliminate the RDBMS. There are many reasons for using an RDBMS and Zope allows it to be integrated very easily in your site. adding instance of Local File Sysem programattically

I'm doing something wrong, but I just don't seed it. from a python script container.manage_addProduct['Local File System'].addLocalFS( someid, sometitle, somebasepath) fails with a key error on 'Local File System'. However, if one builds a LFS from the ZMI and looks at the meta type, that's what is returned. I'm sure it's somthing simple. BTW, I am using version 1.0.

How install the CMFCollection

how install CMFCollection product, the install.txt file only indicates that to do after this installed. I have tried to install it continuing the instructions of other product, as for example CMFPlone 1. Untar CMFCollection file #unzip CMFCollection-0.2.0.zip 2. copy or move CMFCollection directory to zope directory #mv CMFCollection /usr/local/zope/. 3. Move to /usr/local/zope/lib/python/Product # cd /usr/local/zope/lib/python/Product 4. make a sym link in lib/python/Product # ln -s ../../../CMFCollection CMFCollection and voila This is the correct procedure?
