All, I'm trying to set up a Virtual Host Monster so that I can take a URL like http://mylocal.machine.com:8080/plone_site <http://mylocal.machine.com:8080/plone_site> and turn it into something like http://home.mylocal.machine.com/ <http://home.mylocal.machine.com/> . I'm using Zope as a server on port 8080 (v2.6.1 on SuSE 7.3). Following the directions in the Zope Book for 2.6 (http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Books/ZopeBook/2_6Edition/VirtualHosting. stx <http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Books/ZopeBook/2_6Edition/VirtualHosting. stx> , I end up with the ability to access the folder with the shorter URL only on the localhost, access from other machines fails, primarily (I think) because there is no "home.mylocal.machine.com" in the DNS tables. Am I missing something fundamental here? Is there further configuration I need to do? I have Apache running, but I'd rather not mess with it's configuration unless I really have to. Thanks. Tom. Script to automatically add "Member" role for first login using exUserFolder with SMB authentication

I setup my zope so that I can use the exUserFolder and login using my company's Windows Domain controller. I know how to manually add users so that they are part of the "Member" role but I want this to be done automatically the first time a user logs in to zope (or my plone site). How is this accomplished? I am very new to Zope and Plone but I am a long-time programmer - so please don't spare the details. :) Thanks, Jim Hodapp

PUT_factory for folders?

When you FTP a file into Zope, you can create a PUT_factory method in to control how it gets mapped into Zope objects. Is there any equivalent functionality for folders -- so that "mkdir" in the FTP client will make a particular type of "folderish" object other than a plain Zope Folder object? An initial look at webdav/NullResource.py suggests not, but it would be nice if such a thing existed. ZSQL Method Failure From within Python

I've got a bizare problem: I've got a Python Script that calls several zsql_methods; these come in two flavours: Read and update/insert. The Read ones are having no problems. Strangely, though, the update/insert ones are failing. Now, here's where it gets interesting: They all work in test mode. So accessing the zsql methods directly works perfectly. getting CVS files for CMF, Plone and Zope?

I need to know how to get CVS items for zope. I installed tortoise and tried to get CMF/Plone things first. I had problems connecting to the sourceforge collective (error below). I also wonder if there is anything special you need to do with these CVS files to install/compile them or if you can simply drop them into the products folder and restart zope. I am following these instructions to get things on CVS with windows and tortoise: http://69.57.136.42/development/cvs cvsroot: :pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/plone module: CMFPlone However I cannot seem to get anything- error is "no such file or directory" In particular I am looking for CMF products like CMFAddressBook I would assume from the web view that this is: :pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/collective module: CMFAddressBook I have tried the port 443 to get through my firewall and now I at least get a login prompt but cannot get to files... ZPT-How to sort by type and then title or id

I wanted to create a listing for a folder that sorted first by the type of item and secondly by title. I found this example for sorting by title, but I can't figure out how to get it to sort by type first. Newbie needs help - Zope 2.6.1 corrupting user objects?

Folks, I've tried to find an answer by searching the collector, the mailing list archives, and google. Didn't have much luck. I've got a site running Zope 2.6.1 under RH Linux. We are using a current version of Plone. The whole thing was set up about a month and a half ago, and after discovering that running on Sun was at times problematic, we've had very good results running under RH 9. I've got about a hundred site members and I've had three instances now where for some as yet undetermined reason, something in a user's account becomes corrupted and they can no longer log in. When this happens, each time the user goes to log in, a stack trace is created. Apparently this happens after the user password is compared to what Zope knows, because changing the user password through the management interface will instead cause the expected password failure page to be rendered. Deleting the user and recreating using the same userid doesn't resolve the problem which implies that there is some kind of persistence at work here. If you recreate as the same userid and with a new password, logging in causes the same stack trace to be displayed. I've attached one stack trace, but the other two are identical except for the instance number. I'm new to Zope and finding that my lack of familiarity with the code base is slowing me down. If anyone out there can suggest some troubleshooting approaches, I would appreciate it. When this was limited to just one person it was an annoyance, but now its become critical to site functioning to solve this problem.
