Hi, I am a casual zope user and a big fan. I am having a problem with a recently installed zope 2.61. Often, when I point to port 8080 in my browser (to get to zope) I get a login dialog labeled xdb. I do not ever remember setting up anything which would require a password and my zope manager password and login do not seem to work. Even weirder is that sometimes this does not pop up and I can use zope no problem. I am running an apache server but am connecting to zope through the zope web server (no apache with zope). Anyone heard of/know of this problem? Thanks! Eric

PyXML and SOAPpy installation for Zope

I am trying to create some External Methods in Zope to access some simple web services. I have both these packages working under the default Python installation on my server, but I don't have a clue on how to get them to install in the python setup for Zope. I'm not even sure if they will work under Zope, so I'm seeking some advice. The last thing I want to do is screw up my Zope installation. If anyone can offer some help that would be great. Ausum, Please keep it on the list. That was just a hunch, based on too much damn M$ in my bloodstream, I guess I was just thinking like a "Redmondian".:) I was having problems with an NT4 machine just today actually, I did see (and the bulb went off again) that in NT4 that under services, there's the "Interact with the desktop" check box. under everything > w2k, it's under logon (2nd tab under service properties ) maybe checking / enabling that will help. I _wish_ I knew more about win32service, but unfortunately I don't. I guess my advice would be 1) read the source and 2) google is your friend. apache rewrite virtual host URL-hiding

Hi all, I have a porb with rewrite - after modifying httpd.conf and restarting apache nothing happened so i wondered if the config was read at all... but of course it may be just a fault of my rewrite rule. - Please have a look: I want to do: http://openspirit.de should be forwarded to the zope folder "noo", located in (zope-root)/openspirit/noo/ of my Zope server. stuck with Zope version lock !!!

Hi, I'm stuck committing work I made using a "version" object on a production site. I created a "version" object at the root of a Folder (site) and started creating new objects and changing others. After a satisfying result (working in context of that version), I saved the work done with that version. Strange results : * Modified objects still are locked on that version, and when leaving the version context, the old content replaced the modified one. * New objects created in the context of the version have disappeared when leaving the version (after saving changes !!). Those objects appear again when I join the version. As a result, the (public) site is buggy as all changes have not been committed. And I must "enter" that version as manager to see the (supposed to be commited) changes. Heeelp please (emergency) Many thanks in advance. My config : Zope 2.6.1/FreeBSD 4.8 --Gilles

Accessing File Contents

I have a Zope application that stores entries in Zope file objects. I know how to create the objects, storing text as the file's contents and know how to read and update the objects properties from a script called on the object. But, I don't know how to access or update the file's contents from such a script. So, I've stored all my data as properties. Hi. CMFWeblog is in development in 'the collective'. http://sf.net/projects/collective you can grab it from CVS. It needs testing but it appears to work just fine and Ingeniweb is cleaning up the code. It currently supports 3 APIs: MovableType, MetaWeblog, and Blogger. Since the blog entries are archetypes they can be stored in a RDBMS, has transforms to/from MSWord or other formats, and cuts down on the typical boilerplate Zope/CMF code needed (just define the schema ;-). There is a 'ArcheRecipes' module in http://sf.net/projects/archetypes which has a few examples. Currently there is a contest underway looking for interesting ways of using Archetypes. REQUIREMENTS: - RPCAuth (Released) - Archetypes (1.0beta2+) - CMF/Plone I'm CCing Kamon and Sidnei who are working on the code. The biggest obstacles that I know of before making a release is: - Testing from others - Cleaning up the code - Archetypes 1.0 release (hopefully by end of the month, but its currently stable and no significant changes should land before 1.0) cheers, ~runyaga
