What is exactly Gruf ?

Hello, I'm looking a way to create many privates groups. What I mean is that each group is independent with its own private forum, documents, members, calendar, etc. I would like a user have the ability to belong one or more groups. I would like some users have the ability to register others inside groups. Finally, I would like a user log in and after he has the ability to choose a group to work with. (In fact I would like something like groove) I don't understand how Gruf works. Is it what I'm looking for? Thanks. Patrick Gelin

dtml-var bug ?

Hi, I currently use Zope-2.6.1 (on Linux and Solaris) with DTML pages. I've noticed a curious thing : I have a text property, which I display with <dtml-var myproperty html_quote size=200>, so that only the first 200 characters are displayed. The problem is that sometimes, the output is truncated in the middle of an HTML tag (generally a <br>), which can be quite confusing for several browsers... Is it a bug ? Plone (CMF) + TextIndexNG

Hi, how can I put Plone (CMF) to work with TextIndexNG? I mean, I want to have my uploaded M$-Office and PDF files full-text indexed by its contents. Do I have to modify Plone/CMF file classes? How to trigger the default browser from Zope?

I'm in the need to create local alerts to be seen as web pages at the PC where Zope runs as an NT service, and I've successfully tested the python module 'webbrowser', outside of the Zope environment: def trigger_browser(url): import webbrowser webbrowser.open(url) But after copying it in the Extensions folder and loading it via an External Method, nothing happens. Any other code that I put after the last line will work, but the browser won't trigger at all. I'm using Zope 2.6.1 for Win32. I've also tried with both, the official Python distribution + win32all, and ActivePython, but it's all the same. (The registry keys were modified accordingly, and the computer restarted.) And curiously, if I load Zope as a standalone app, then the browser does trigger fine. (The service in all cases was set up to be started by the Administrator's account ) Has anyone on the list had a similar problem? To run Zope as standalone isn't currently an option. Any ideas? :) Ausum

Formulator--pre-selecting a line in a multiline field

Dear Dieter, Thank you for answering my Formulator question. I am a little unclear on your answer. If I may I would like to ask it more clearly. In a DTML document, I have the following code to render the field "company_contact_id" which is an integer, and its label, inside a table for formatting: <tr> <td><dtml-var "profile_form.company_contact_id.get_value('title')"></td> <td><dtml-var "profile_form.company_contact_id.render(_['company_contact_id'])"></td> </tr> In this case, the field in the database is called "company_contact_id", and that is also what I named it in Formulator. In your example you said: <INPUT TYPE="HIDDEN" NAME="sex_code:int" VALUE="<dtml-var sex_code null="">"> I have read the database record before I display the page and I have the values in the record, I am able to display other "fixed" fields. I am not sure how your example fits with pre-setting the Formulator field on display. In other Formulator fields, including the database field name as (_['company_contact_id']) works to preview the value from the database record. But in the case of the list field, it does not work. Are you suggesting that I should create a hidden field and assign it the value I want to select -- and then refer to that hidden field as the default value of the Formulator multiline widget? Does anyone know how to preset the selected field in a multiline field in a Forumlator form. The form is built with Formulator widgets and displayed using DTML - and I have it working. I am loading the list in a multiline field from a SQL table -- and I use a Python script to build the list of tuples needed. That works. Now I want to use a value from the database record I am displaying to set the value selected in the list -- before displaying the page. I can't figure out how to preset the selected field in the list. If the list looks like ABC, 1 DEF, 2 HIJ, 3 and in the database the field has a value of 2. I would like the form, when it is rendered, to have the second line "DEF" already selected. I have looked in the documentation and can't find an example of this. Any suggestions -- this is urgent! I decided to go with Formulator and now I can't finish implementing several forms because I can't figure this out. Thanks, David ======================================= David T. Obtaining the User's Name from a Python Script in Zope

I have used the getUserName() function in page templates and passed that name as a parameter to python scripts in Zope. But, now I need to independently verify the authenticated user from a script, not relying on anything passed in from a page. Is it possible to do so, and if so, how? The basic need is to obtain the logged in user's name from a script directly from Zope from within a python script. If this should be posted to another list, please let me know. Anyway, your code could be written shorter and nicer. You don't have to use "rownum" to count the rows. Internal Messaging System

Hello, I am looking for a Zope product that would give my site internal messaging capability. Each user should have his/her own mail box, and should be allowed to send messages to a specific user, to a group, or to all users. It would also be nice if there was an option to send e-mail messages, but this is not an absolute requirement. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
