SkinnedFolder is a tiny integration layer on top of Zope's Folder and the CMF's SkinsTool. It provides different skins for a Zope Folder. A skin is the third element in the bones-flesh-skin view on web applications. The bones correspond to the basic infrastructure with object classes and services, the flesh is the content and the skin provides for presentation and business logic. Separating skins (presentation) from flesh (content) provides for easier personalization, greater flexibility and simpler maintenance. The CMF SkinsTool allows to define a set of skins as a sequence of name spaces (called layers, usually folder like objects). It supports the notion of current skin. This skin is used as name space to extend the attribute resolution on the SkinsTool's parent. This parent appears to have as attributes all names defined and mapped to objects by the current skin. Switching the current skin allows for easy personalization of presentation and business logic by changing the attribute name to object map. This product integrates the SkinsTool with the standard Zope Folder. You must have CMFCore installed which you can get from the CMF distribution. Almost surely, you will only be interested in this product, when you want to separate presentation from content. You may want to use this product together with FileSystemSite. VerboseSecurity and LDAPUserFolder?

Hi Shane & all Have you had any opportunity to play with VerboseSecurity together with LDAPUserFolder (2.2beta3)? It looks as though VerboseSecurity doesn't kick in with LDAPUserFolder: I get a plain "Unauthorized" exception, instead of the nice verbose feedback I get on the plain UserFolder next door. Remote management permissions problem

I'm still having a problem with this issue and have not yet found a workaround. I have a management instance of Zope which is to be used to manage a collection of other Zope instances. I am trying to use Zope's Client.py mechanism (ZPublisher.Client) and am running into permissions problems with the cookiecrumbler authentication. I am using an External Method in the admin site: import ZPublisher.Client def createRemoteDiscussion( self, instanceURL, d_id, d_title ): f = ZPublisher.Client.Function( instanceURL, username='usermanager', password='usermanagerpassword') headers, body = f(d_id=d_id, d_title=d_title) return body When I use this to create an instance of, say, a ZClass remotely, I get vectored to the login page of the remote site, presumably because of permissions issues. How do I make this work? Or is there a better solution? For the record, I am currently running Zope 2.6.2b3, Python 2.1.3.

CheckBoxes, dynamic lists and SQL insert statements

Hi all, I'm feeling rather thick, as I've been reading through some of a similar question from about 2 years back ( http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zope/2001-August/097408.html ) and I'm not quite understanding it. What I am trying to achieve is to pull some date from one table by an SQL query, and have the results selectable/de-selectable by the form of a checkbox - to then be dumped into a temporary table. I'm guessing that it's probably something simple, and I'm just too close to the code. This here is my selection via checkbox form.. this seems to pass the information to my next step ok... Making a (plone) Zope site only accessible to authenticated users

I would like to make a (plone) Zope site only accessible to authenticated users. That is, imagine I have accounts user1, user2, user3. and folder folder1, folder2, folder3. These folders are subfolders of a folder called private: ---- private - folder1 - folder2 - folder3 How can I make sure that, e.g. user1 and user2 can only access folder1 (and do not see folder2 and folder3), and that user3 can access folder2 and folder3 (and does not see folder1). Ideally, whenever a user1, user2, user3 is searching for content, he (she) should not see content contained in a folder he cannot access. In my real life the number of users can be approx. 50-100 and the number of folders 25-40. how do you write to stupid log file?

Hello, We'd like to add some internal logging for some Products we've written. What is the proper way to write error messages to the stupid log file? exploratory questions

Howdy. I've followed a couple of Zope tutorials, and I really like what I see so far. Now I would like to begin to build a Zope project to potentially replace an existing project I have that's written in Java/JSP for Tomcat (and connected to PostgreSQL with a pooling mechanism). A few questions: My site has several hundred registered users, and potentially it could have many thousand. Is it practical and manageable to handle access control programmatically (assuming user info - usernames, passwords, etc.) are stored in a Postgres db)? Is there a database pooling mechanism for Zope+PostgreSQL? Does anyone have any comments about Zope performance as compared to Tomcat/Java? Any caveats? Any pointers to information are welcome. securityinfo for a class

Hello, I'm creating a Product with a function retrieve(self, num) which returns an email.Message object. In a zpt of the product I've <div tal:define="msg python:here.retrieve(request['num'])"> and I would like to manipulate msg using email.Message methods, like in <td tal:content="python:msg.get('from')">name</td> I've added these delarations to my __init__.py ModuleSecurityInfo('email').declarePublic('Message') ModuleSecurityInfo('Message').declarePublic('get') This doesn't work, it prompts the login box. How can I use Message's methods in a page template or Python Script? Fernando

refresh product error
