Performance Degradation with SiteRoot

I have a Zope instance running behind Apache and am using Apache ProxyPass/Rewrite to split traffic between a Zope site (for dynamic content) and a non-Zope site (static content). I added a SiteRoot object in the root folder of my Zope instance to generate an appropriate URL to display to the user. My problem is that performance on the site took a nosedive when I installed the SiteRoot object in Zope. It is generating the URL correctly but the site is now painfully slow. Before installing SiteRoot, the performance was great. I have googled around and found some stuff about Apache and SiteRoot but have not found anything that addresses degradation in performance. hi Bob, I don't know the answer to your problem, but here's what I did: - install Zope 2.7rc1 - install Ape (from http://hathaway.freezope.org/Software/Ape) - install ZWiki 0.26 - install LatexWiki 0.22 - change workDir to be basePath + '/var/LatexWiki/images' in LatexWiki/util.py (yuck) - put this in bottom of $INSTANCE_HOME/etc/zope.conf: %import Products.Ape <ape-db images> <ape-storage> mapper-variation filesystem <ape-fs-connection fs> basepath $INSTANCE/var/LatexWiki </ape-fs-connection> </ape-storage> mount-point /images scan-interval 10 </ape-db> - start zope - add a "ZODB Mount Point," check "Create new folders if ...", and create the mount point. - add a zwiki site, edit a page (using the ZWiki edit view, not the management one), put some LaTeX in it, and change the page type to "Structured Text + Latex". I think Zope 2.7 addresses some of the concerns you have about DBTab, the product that lets you mount databases through the management interface. It's included in Zope 2.7; you don't even need the dbtab.conf file. (You do have to edit zope.conf, though.) Sean

2.6.3/product/security/PageTemplateFile problem

hi! i have a "small" problem with PageTemplateFiles i use in products. the problem is, that none of my products which worked fine under zope <= 2.6.2 are working under 2.6.3/2.7.0-rc1. i always get "You are not allowed to access '' in this context" when i try to access a PageTemplateFile, even if i declare them public. normal methods are still working correct. these are the lines, where the problem(s) must be: ... __roles__ = ( ) security = ClassSecurityInfo( ) security.setDefaultAccess( 'deny' ) ... security.declarePublic( 'index_html' ) index_html = PageTemplateFile( 'ZPT/index_html.zpt', globals( ) ) ... any idea what i'm doing wrong? thanx in advance - sifu

Hi all, I have a form where the users enter the entries as a name value pair. I have to save this info as text to be used later in a batch mode. I am new to Zope and python and i am having trouble figuring out how this can be done. I would highly appreciate if someone could send me some pointers or some sample code. My guess is that you are running Siteroot or VHM and somehow that got messed up. If you are locked out, try this: http://www.zopezone.com/faq/1071157086 If it is really just breaking try using another Data.fs and see if that fixes it. Is it possible to create *non-persistent* publishable objects with product code? I'm finding Zope unwilling to publish a generic Python object.

REQUEST object

Hello. In my DTML document I set a temporary variable called 'price' to 0 using the following statement: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('priceNumber', 0)"> Then, I try to access this variable in my DTML method by using the following: <dtml-var "REQUEST.get('priceNumber')"> and 'None' is echoed. I have also tried printing the entire REQUEST object using the following: <dtml-var name="REQUEST"> and this variable is not found in the list of variables mentioned. The suprising part is that I have tried the same thing with another variable called 'degreeNumber' and everything works just fine. I don't think it's a naming issue since I have tried serveral other names. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. - Asad

Z Search Interface - generated ZPT pagination problem.

Hi List, Done some googling on this - found the problem rehearsed, but not a solution. If I generate a Z Search interface, I get a page which uses a query string parameter like: - /mysearchresults?filter=value ...to paginate this, I need a URL like: - /mysearchresults?filter=value&start:int=10 However, the URL is called using URL0, which omits the query string, giving: - /mysearchresults?start:int=10 ...which fails, 'cos it needs that parameter! Am I missing something here? Is there a fix, or do I need to code around this? Import path for Shared_products

I'm using ZOPE/ZEO in a basic Instance_home scenario. I have all of my add-on products common between the instances in a shared_products directory. This seems to work well except now that i've added APE it seems to only be usable when installed to the software_home products directory. Likewise if I use ape to mount storage and use container_class="Products.CMFPlone.PloneFolder.PloneFolder" it fails to find the Plone folder unless CMFPlone is located in the software_home products directory. Am I missing some path statement? Hi all, I have 2 sqlmethods foo and bar then i have a python script ----------------------- x=int(myx) mylist=[] for result in context.foo: mylist.append(result) if x == 2: for result in context.bar: mylist.append(result) return mylist ----------------------- what i want to do is sort this list by a field eg. mylist.sort('fieldname') but obviously the sort function dose not work like that -- -tim zegir
