Changing cache paramters in Zope 2.7

Hello, How do I change the value of "Target number of objects in memory per cache" in Zope 2.7rc1? The field is not editable in the Control Panel, and I have not found anything in the zope.conf-file either. Thanks in advance, -Petter-

Site Access Product versions?

I am thoroughly confused about the Site Access product and its various versions. I'm hoping somebody knows enough about it to shed some light on what I'm looking at. I recently upgraded a Zope site (that's been running for years, over several versions) to 2.7rc1. With that version came a version of the Site Access product that I assume is the current default one... its Virtual Host Monster has a "Mappings" tab, with a single text field, into which you type some oddly composed strings to get domains to map to folders. A long while back (I don't even remember when, probably when 2.5 was new), I remember exchanging this product for an "enhanced" version which had an "Edit" tab, which featured a two-column interface that would take as many pairs (domain, folder) as you wanted to put in... it kept giving you extra fields as long as you hit the "Update mappings" button. I seem to have copies of both of these versions here, and they both seem to work (although I prefer the one with the two-column interface because it's easier to understand). But they appear to have the same version number (2-0-0 with mappings) and are identical except for their manage_edit.dtml method. I'm not sure if I've somehow merged files or what. Could somebody shed some light on what the difference is? I can't find anything online that makes any sense in this regard. Thanks, - John Maxwell jmax(a)sfu.ca

Best practice in Zope-hosting?

I'd like to setup a small Zope-hosting operation. Using basically "zopectl --init", an additional vhost.conf-file (for every domain) for Apache and a few other things I'm able to setup a new Zope-instance for whatever I or a customer needs. The setup is Apache + mod_fastcgi in front of the Zope instance. Now, after successfully making it work as intended, I have second thoughts as to if not this method is overkill for most people. That is: having a separate Zope instance for each customer. I still intend to use FastCGI, but I think most users will be happy of just having a folder in a Zope instance and then have vhost access through a vhost in Apache and the additional HostMonster (or similar technique). Can not import PersistentMapping

When I include the following line of code: from Persistence.PersistentMapping import PersistentMapping in my Product, it causes this error when I try to import it: AttributeError: 'Persistence.PersistentMapping' module has no attribute '__basicnew__' after which I have to restart Zope from the command line, the error continues to be displayed with every request, so I can not use the management interface. This line of code, however, works fine: from Persistence.PersistentList import PersistentList Is this a bug in Zope? I can't imagine why PersistentList would work fine, but PersistentMapping will not even import. The source code is there for both, and I have tried reinstalling Zope in case it was a corrupt file or something, but no luck. I can of course just create my own object with a normal {}, and use _p_changed=1 as needed, but I wanted to share and see if anyone else had experienced this problem. database conflicts and the _p_oid missing attribute bug

Jeremy & List -- I have been having problems with Zope locking up (deadlock?) when ZODB conflicts occur. I am running Zope 2.6.2b3 with the 3.1.2b2 version of the ZODB (that is, a vanilla install). Python is 2.1.3. One of the failing methods, QLOG, that is a Python Script that computes some parameters (including calling an External Method to create a unique id) and then invokes a ZSQLMethod to insert information into a MySQL database. The other failing method is the logged_in element of the commonly used Cookie Crumbler authentication system. It does a bit of Javascript setup and then invokes a Python Script that creates a bunch of session variables which it populates from MySQL (4 queries) and writes a row into a MySQL table. Each of the sql queries calls a PythonScript as part of the dynamic expansion of the query. The final query calls an External Method to get a unique identifier. The diagnostic is always: 2004-01-22T12:25:15 ERROR(200) ZODB A storage error occured during transaction abort. This shouldn't happen. Zope's ZODB serializes the access and aborts all but the oldest of the conflicting transactions. The diagnostic occurs because a registered object is missing the _p_oid attribute that's used to rollback the transaction. The big question is which of the several sub-transactions is the culprit--or is it a bug as Dieter has suggested, soluable by providing a default value for _p_oid -- Dieter wrote: You can fix this by substituting "getattr(o,'_p_oid','<not persistent>')" for "o._p_oid" in "_commit_error". I've been a bit unwilling to modify this part of Zope until I fully understand the problem. How can I find the offending object(s)? Why don't they have the proper _p_oid attribute? Is this truly a bug? And, on another front, it looks like conflicts of the sort that are triggering the bug are going to be relatively common. They are real and are ascerbated by the time required for database, file, and computation. fill-slot condition possible?

Hello, is it possible when using a macro to conditionally fill a slot ? In the same template, that is... Sometimes i want the slot filled, other times i would like to keep the default content of the slot. This is easy with two distinct templates, but in the same template ? -- Sune B. Wøller

Another newby question about referring to the value of variables

Hi, First , thanks for everyone's help with my last two queries which solved the questions I had perfectly - I hope you can bear with me for one more... I am now trying to create a simple product which clones a tinytableplus. I have set it up similarly to the zoo exhibit example in the Zope book. apart from the stuff to redirect back, the add script includes only newgrid=context.manage_clone(container[source],id) where 'source' is a parameter passed from an 'add form' to determine which of several tinytables to use (these are in the product folder). This works if I try to add the product to the product folder itself by viewing and submitting the add form that calls the script but when I try to use the normal add product drop down list I get this error: Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: __getitem__ Everything works OK if I substitute the actual name of a tinytable (preceded by .) like this. newgrid=context.manage_clone(container.grid,id) I'd be very grateful for any ideas, thanks , John -- J o h n G r e y http://j-grey-pc.sunderland.ac.uk ---------------------------------
