Hi, I have recently attempted to include Event Log Manager into my installation of Zope. However, after installing it in my I'm unable to restart Zope successfully. I am an experienced software developer, looking for a content management system for clients that do not have one and cannot afford the big guns. I started looking at Zope seriously Friday, and signed up for the mailing list. The very first thread I explored was the long, bitter stream of replies to "Disgraceful." I've been around long enough to know that this thread is probably not representative of the entire Zope community. But, if the Zope development/support community members want their product to be a long-term viable option, patience with new users -- including even lazy or stupid new users -- is going to be a part of that. I only say this because I've seen good software whither and die, despite the intentions, dedication, and competence of the developers. I'd like to see Zope continue to succeed. What I've seen of Zope in action so far is pretty impressive. The Zope book is also impressive, but still obviously a work in progress. There aren't a lot of on-the-shelf books with recent publication dates, so help here is vital for new users. I understand and sympathize completely with the frustrations of dealing with users who have not read the manual, who have "forgotten" how to do something, whatever. I have gotten an email from a vice-president of special projects asking for a CD of the Internet. But the answer isn't anger; I've learned my knuckles aren't harder than the monitor. Perhaps a newbies list would help, as suggested below. Maybe more of us should help with documentation, and with answering questions. But public humiliation is a self-defeating strategy; it hinders progress for all. How to put my scripts into a custom folder (Acquisition problems)

Hi, I am developing a simple Zope/Plone site and want to put custom scripts in a seperate folder, e.g. into /custom_scripts But how can I now calling these scripts without losing the correct context? If I e.g. want to call the script "/custom_scripts/myscript" from "/folder1" I have to write http://mysite/folder1/custom_scripts/myscript". The context of the script is then "/custom_scripts" which is bad as it loses the context of "folder1". When I put the python scripts into the root folder, everything works as the context of "http://mysite/folder1/myscript" is then "/folder1" which was my intention. I also don't completely understand it: Why is the context of the first example not "folder1/custom_scripts/"? Why does the context change to the container of the script? Is there any good solution to this? Or should I really put all my python scripts into the root folder? Hi, I've just released NMIMETools 1.0 - a multiple-dynamic-attachment-aware replacement for the Zope MIMETools. I've released a first version of NMIMETools some years ago, which wasn't thread-safe. I've fixed this and cleaned up the code, so NMIMETools can be used in heavy-duty-environments without problems. At least I think so...;) Download NMIMETools: http://mjablonski.zope.de/NMimeTools What is the use of NMIMETools? ------------------------------ If you want to create a mail with multiple dynamically determined attachments with the default MIMETools (<dtml-sendmail><dtml-mime><dtml-boundary>), you can't do this. No chance to iterate over the <dtml-boundary>-tag in a <dtml-in>. NMIMETools fixes this problem and allows you to attach multiple dynamically determind attachments to one mail. It introduces two new tags <dtml-nmime> and <dtml-nboundary> to avoid backward compatibility issues with MIMETools, because <dtml-nboundary> is now a open/close-tag. Redirection problem

I have a problem with URL not getting resolved properly and I'm sure it is something related to Apache but can't figure it out properly. I have just installed the Zope MessageBoard product and when using a full URL such as:- http://mysite.org:8080/myzopesite/MB I can add a new msg OK - the URL used is:- http://mysite.org:8080/myzopesite/MB/addMessageForm But when using the URL http://myzopesite.org, the URL displayed on the icon is:- http://myzopesite.org:8080/MB/addMessageForm This sounds like a very basic error but I can't figure out exactly what should be changed. Ideally, I would prefer to be able to access the message board just with http://myzopesite.org/MB and whilst the initial message board screen comes up none of the icons resolve to the correct URL. Can anyone suggest what I have ommitted? This is the RewriteRule in Apache:- RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://www.myzopesite.org:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/www.myzopesite.org/myzo… [P,L] Anything wrong with this? -- John

dynamic radio buttons

Is there any way to use radio buttons generated dynamically as a result of a ZSQL method. Each iteration needs to have a different name if they are to be treated as a separate group. The problem is compounded by the fact that I must write the user's choices to a database.
