Hey all, I recently wrote a script to allow me to log into any server via ssh from the command line by using a passphrase and a server alias. The idea is to not have to remember or look up ips/usernames/passwords to administer servers via ssh. Here's the output of the -h command line switch: This program takes at least one parameter: <serveralias> Optional params include: -a Add a new server: hosting.pl -a <serveralias> <username> <password> <ip> -u Add a new user to an existing server: hosting.pl -u <serveralias> <username> <password> -e Edit a user on an existing server: hosting.pl -e <serveralias> <username> <newpassword> -x Export configuration file to a new file with a different passphrase: hosting.pl -x <exportfilename> <newpassphrase> -c Change your passphrase: hosting.pl -c -l List all accounts on file. -n Start encrypted config from scratch. Do this if you have no config file yet (this is your first time running this script). The config file that holds the server info is encrypted using blowfish via the Crypt::Simple module. I figured this could be useful to some of you. Server does not answer

I have a Zope session that runs a Plone one. Navigating on the site is fine. But when one try to connect, the navigator sends a request to the Zope server. It sends back an acknowledgment : the navigator informs the web site is found. And then the navigator is waiting for data that never comes ? I have no error logged on my Zope instance. It is a FreeBSD 5 server that runs a Zope/(unreleased version, python 2.3.4 with ZServer/1.1 (Plone version : 2.0.3). What can be the problem ? Regards. Sebastien

objects in scope of REQUEST

Hi again everyone, I'd like my Product to be able to create certain objects on-demand, but only once per REQUEST. If via DTML or PythonScript etc ask for the same object more than once during the REQUEST, my Product won't create an additional instance. But most importantly, I need to make sure that these objects get destroyed when the REQUEST is done - so I don't leave a bunch of objects hanging around forever. Is this possible? I've seen somewhere that Temporary Folder can do this, but it looks as if that holds onto objects until Zope is shutdown - not what I'm looking for. Thanks for any hints, advice, or pointers to where to look for more info. btw - is anyone else out there timing out trying to hit zope.org? I can't even get cached pages from google. Jim

RAM Cache Manager doesn't work for my script

Hi, all I'm trying to use RAM Cache Manager to cache a Python Script object. The script is pretty simple. Just a call of a SQL Method and some logic. I've made this script cacheable using "Cache" tab, ran this script several time. Then went to "Statistics" tab of Cache Manager. But the cache doesn't work -- I see only zeros opposite my script. What's wrong? How to get the cache working in this case. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks, -- -tick

How can I import a file called content.asp?content_category_id=1 to Zope? Neither that name or content.asp%3Fcontent_category_id=1 appear to be acceptable. -- John

tal:attributes question

I have this: style="position:absolute;left:180;top:25;z-index:1;visibility:hidden;" I need to make 'top' change after each iteration. So, I have a little python operation called position that will return a new value and I want to make 'top' contain that value. My tal:attributes... looks like this => tal:attributes="id string:${box}" I was thinking about tweaking the tal:attributes to include 'style' <div tal:attributes="id string:${box}; style string:position:absolute;left:180;top:${position};z-index:1;visibility:h idden;"> Of course, this won't work merely because of all the semicolons. Does anyone have an idea of how I would go about this? Maybe my approach is not the best way. Thank You, Laura

strategies for using external py packages

Hi, Can anyone recommend a good resource, online docs, examples that specifically deal with methods/best practices/caveats for using external python code libs within Zope. I have read the relevant chapters in Zope Book and done quite a bit of googling but can't seem to find detailed material on this. My situation involves, on the one hand, a sizeable 'instance space' application, and on the other, some python modules/packages that I need to teach the instance-space stuff to use. The instance app is too vast to realistically rewrite as a zope Product all in one shot - therefore I'm looking for a sane way to gradually add external functionality (and later, offload existing functionality from instance -> external). What I'm most interested in is a discussion of External Methods vs. Products as a means for doing this, memory and performance considerations, etc. The external code should know nothing about Zope, ZODB etc - so I suspect what I need to design is essentially some sort of proxy layer. (If this isn't specific enough I can happily elaborate.) Any suggestions welcome. Thanks, Jim

Thanks, Tres, for your quick reply. Might I ask a followup question (you may refer me to some existing docs as well, that'd be great) - In the past I've messed with simply having a Script (Python) that goes: from Products.MyProduct.mymodule import mymethod result = mymethod.dosomething() ...this is without having any kind of proper 'instance' of the Product in my Zope instance. It's worked, though a) it's kinda messy, and b) I've never really been able to determine if this exposes me to memory leak problems (so far so good) or has other negative impacts or risks. How do things differ between this 'lo-fi' approach, and that of explicitly instantiating the Product somewhere in my Zope tree as you suggested? Write a simple Zope product which provides a "façade" object for your package; then add an instance of that object to your Zope, and have your templates / scripts use the external library through it. In a CMF / Plone application, such an object would be a "tool".
