Is the CVS to SVN migration complete

It looks like the source code repository has moved to svn.zope.org from cvs.zope.org, but I've seen no announcement. Has the migration been completed? The old cvs site looks gutted and deprecated but there's no announcement pointing to the new svn.zope.org site. Panic for one of my collegues about to download the latest CVS of Zope 2.7.X

linux install troubles

Hey, I am having troubles getting my install of Zope 2.7 to work on my Slackware box. PHP vs. Zope/Plone? Which better overall and for what?

I don't know much about web stuff. I can see amazing power in Zope and thought PHP was just for quick and easy little projects. However, I keep hearing about more and more big beefy web projects and companies using PHP. Without starting a flame war, is there a chance in future the power AND ease of PHP may win out over Zope? Does Zope's architecture have some killer features that PHP can never copy? It seems Zope's steep learning curve is a showstopper for some. Please advise. Catalog DateIndex Range Query

I have a catalog of events. Each event has a 'dateStart' and a 'dateEnd' property and index. I want to search the catalog to see what is happening in the next 5 days. Therefore two things must be true: -The event must start sometime before 5 days from now (dateStart < today+5) AND -The event must end sometime after today (dateEnd > today) It seems that _usage would do the trick, but that is deprecated. This would have worked well in my searchLogic script: REQUEST.set('dateStart' : ZopeTime() +5, 'dateStart_usage' : 'range:max', 'dateEnd' : ZopeTime(), 'dateEnd_usage' : 'range:min' ) Thanks in advance for any alternative ideas, Nathan

troubleshooting instance that won't serve pages

Hi! I need suggestions in troubleshooting one of my Zope instances. It acts like it's starting fine, whether I start it from the command prompt ("ZServer HTTP server started... Port: 8080") or as a Windows service. But trying to access any page that it should serve only gives "The page is currently unavailable". I need some information on what is going wrong, but the places I've checked aren't helping. Things I have checked: - The URL is correct, and using the hard-coded IP address doesn't help. - The port number I'm trying to get to (8080) is the same one Zope reports when it starts. - Firefox and Internet Explorer fail equally. - A process is listed in the Windows Task Manager. It appears when I start Zope and disappears when I stop it. - The Windows Event Viewer shows no events related to Zope. - I set the logger level in /etc/zope.conf to ALL for <eventlog>, <logger access>, and <logger trace>, and restart the instance, yet the final entry in /log/event.log is simply "2004-12-15T15:12:35 INFO(0) Zope Ready to handle requests". /log/Z2.log and /log/trace.log show nothing. - Running "netstat" shows nothing claiming port 8080 - which might explain why the page won't come up - yet it doesn't tell me why! - Of course, I can't access the through-the-webpage Zope log... I am out of troubleshooting ideas! I don't know where else I can look. Is there anyplace else I can look for a hint of what's happening?
