VHM/Apache Rewrite Rules

Folks, I am trying to use VHM and Apache rewrite rules together and have no problems getting it working for various folders. However, I am finding that I don't appear to be able to make this work for the root folder and management console and am can't see in the docs why I can't do it. If my zope server lives at the mythical myhouse.org:8080 what I want to do is set up a VHM/rewrite that will allow http://myhouse.org/zope/ to be equivalent to http://myhouse.org:8080/. My first bright ideas were: RewriteRule ^/zope(.*) http://127.0.0.1:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/myhouse.org:80//VirtualHostRoot/… [NC,P,L] and RewriteRule ^/zope(.*) http://127.0.0.1:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/myhouse.org:80/VirtualHostRoot/z… [NC,P,L]RewriteRule ^/zope(.*) Those produce a site error and resource not found page telling me the resource not working is zope GET. Bright idea number two was: RewriteRule ^/zope/(.*) http://127.0.0.1:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/myhouse.org:80/VirtualHostRoot//… [P,L] which turns out to be equivalent in final effect to this attempt: RewriteRule ^/zope/(.*) http://127.0.0.1:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/myhouse.org:80/VirtualHostRoot/$1 [P,L] Both of those hitting http://myhouse.org/zope/ produces the normal zope quickstart page, but the link there to the management interface isn't rewritten to include the /zope redirection (ie the link is to http://myhouse.org/manage not the correct http://myhouse.org/zope/manage) Trying to hit the management page directly with http://myhouse.org/zope/manage brings up the frames for the management page, but the actual content of those frames is all a bunch of apache 404's. This isn't mission critical by any means, since in practice it is just another way of getting at myhouse.org:8080 and my redirects of things in folders work fine, but I am curious if anyone can tell me why it doesn't work and give me a fix. Hi All, I am a zope newbie. This question may be stupid: Can I set up zope so that some of the objects(like SQLMethod, Page Template) cannot visit directly on the web, but they can be called by other public visitable objects(such as a script object)? Besides that, more and more open source software is now buildable on OS/2 so there is little point in moving away. In fact XFree86 4.4.0 became available for OS/2 before Linux, AFAIK. Now it looks as though I can build Zope 2.7.0 straight from source without requiring any patches at all, so there is much less suffering involved than there used to be. As for virii, I am not aware of a single one which affects OS/2. Trying to use CookieCrumbler 1.1 with Zope 2.7.0 and having trouble with logging out

I'm trying to use CookieCrumbler 1.1 with Zope 2.7.0 and am having trouble with logging out. I previously used CookieCrumbler 0.5 with Zope 2.6.1 with the my current objects and everything worked fine. Basically I'm getting the error: Traceback (innermost last): Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 100, in publish Module ZPublisher.mapply, line 88, in mapply Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 40, in call_object Module Shared.DC.Scripts.Bindings, line 306, in __call__ Module Shared.DC.Scripts.Bindings, line 343, in _bindAndExec Module Products.PythonScripts.PythonScript, line 318, in _exec Module None, line 7, in logout - <PythonScript at /logout> - Line 7 Module Products.CookieCrumbler.CookieCrumbler, line 326, in logout AttributeError: logoutabsolute_url Clearly the error is a little odd but the value of my CookieCrumbler instance's 'Logout page ID' property is 'logout' which is the ID of a 'Script (Python)'. My guess is that Python Methods are no longer implementing absolute_url(). Has the implementation of Python Methods changed significantly since 2.6.1? Thanks, Ken Causey

changing http port with -w

Hi everybody, im new to zope. Ive got this small issue to solve. I need to run the http of zope on port 40000 (because the admin lost the password to the router here and that happens to be one of the open ports here). I am running zope as a service on a win2k box. (latest stable version). Ive tried the -w flag in the runzope.bat in the bin dir. And ive also added the flag as a parameter to the windows service. Unfortunatly, neither work. Can anybody suggest a solution to this problem? Thank you Anton

Newbie Q: Insert Word Files into Table Cell?

Hi- I just joined the list and am a relative newbie.... I want to place a MSWord file into a table cell. But I *do not* want a link-- I want the file itself to open automatically and look like the original word document (I don't want/need to edit the file). I got it to work several ways, but the file has a multitude of symbols, extraneous text, lines, etc, mixed in with the text. This seems like it ought to be easy, it works fine if I place an <a href=...> link in the table cell. Any help greatly appreciated, much thanks in advance! Kevin

Zope and IIS

I am totally new to Zope. I dunno if it suits my problem. I have an ASP based app running on IIS at port 80. I have another web-app (Java) running on a different server at different port, but on the same machine IIS is present. I will have a few links on my ASP app, clicking on it will take me to the Java web-app. since the Java web-app is not running on port 80, it will not be accessible to the outside world unless I open another port in my firewall. So, I want to use Zope to redirect the URLs whichever is relevant to my Java web -app. Can I do it using Zope, if so, please give me some pointers. --prefix not working

Whilst building Zope 2.7.0 using the '--prefix' option to configure, I find the install is ignoring the option. Can anyone suggest how I can find out why? The Makefile does have it set correctly. -- John

how to upload a lot of files as Tal (Page Template)

Hi I try to use Webdav and FTP to upload Tal files (Page Template) to Zope but when I do that Zope sees my Tal file as DTML Files (Sorry Objects). I have to use Webdav and FTP because I upload a lot of files every time. A night job does it for me. I can not use Zope manager to do that because it just manages one file each time. Thx Frasse

Use of map() with string formatting in SiteAccess included in Zope 2.7.0 with Python 2.3.3

I'm not sure what has changed but I found that I was getting errors about not enough arguments for the format string at line 103 of SiteAccess/SiteRoot.py when I tried to edit the properties of an existing instance. Investigation indicated map() was returning a list rather than a tuple and that the string formatting didn't like that. Calling tuple() on the result of the call to map() seems to have fixed the error. Ken Causey
