It is an application with about 20 Megabytes of DTML, they really push the DTML technology envelop, so they need someone with lots of DTML experience. Oh, I had seen the append function being used in some examples through my google search. So I assumed that append was a built-in function. How can a folder vanish?

On Tuesday night at around 5.30 BST a folder (of type 'Plone Folder') vanished from within a plone instance on my zope server. None of the users with sufficient privilege to do this will own up... Nothing unusual so far, right? Looking through the access logs I can see successful requests for the folder and its contents up to a certain point, then a couple of minutes later we start serving errors instead. The aspect of this which is spooking me is that I can find no reference to any relevant folder deletion - or indeed any activity in that area of the site at all - in the undo information (btw - is there any way of searching undo records other than by hand through the tabs in the ZMI?) The folder seems to have simply vanished. I'd be very grateful for any suggestions about how such a thing might happen - or how I might discover more about the sequence of events. Thanks, Rupert PS: For your Information: We are running: Zope Version (Zope 2.6.1 (binary release, python 2.1, linux2-x86), python 2.1.3, linux2) Python Version 2.1.3 (#1, Sep 19 2002, 13:15:46) [GCC egcs-2.91.66 19990314/Linux (egcs-1.1.2 release)] CMF 1.3.1 Plone 1.0.3 And a host of products - details available if anyone thinks it might help. The zope server restarts cleanly without any unfamiliar errors :-) I have tried removing/regenerating the Data.fs.index I have tried packing the database (on a backup copy of the Data.fs) - (I read somewhere this might help with a POSkey error?) I am attempting to examine the Data.fs with fsrecover.py and fstest.py but they are new to me so I'm treading gently...

Catalog problem

I moved a Data.fs file from one machine to another. On the second machine, when I click on the Index tab of a catalog object, I receive the following traceback below. I am using Zope 2.6.1 source distribution and Python 2.13. I am also using TextIndexNG2, if that matters. Any ideas? context in a python product

Hi, I have an external product wich have to communicate with the nearest acl_user folder in the Zope hierarchy. However context (like in a python script) isn't recognized as a parameter in (a? )the product. Can this be done and how? thanks, Henny

I have been getting an error : 'file' object has no attribute 'append' I am trying to append a new user on my .htaccess file and once I figure this part I think the rest of my code will work perfectly. This is a snippet of where the error is coming from: Basically if the dirpath exists I want a new required user appended to the list. While we are on the subject of zope performance issues, are all you Zope people aware (I searched the mailing list and couldn't find mention of it) that some people in the Plone community (including myself) have taken to uncommenting a line in the AcceleratedHTTPCacheManager.py file of Zope 2.7 because it seems to hamper caching in proxy servers? I'm no expert so I don't know if this is a good "fix" or not (see http://www.vasudevaservice.com/documentation/articles/plone_speed for more details). My main concern is that we don't have to resort to this kind of hacking in the future and that an appropriate fix gets made in Zope. In my case, this change made an enormous difference when trying to speed up my Plone site and so far I haven't really seen any adverse effects.
