Is there any way to persuade a "vanilla" Zope 2.7.0 installation (read: no Plone, CMF, etc.) to send reasonable mimetypes for things like Python scripts or DTML methods or documents? -- Kirk Strauser The Day Companies

It would be most helpful if you: - posted the exact code that is not working (omitting superfluous bits if necessary) - provided a traceback for the error you are experiencing. Make os.popen() available to scripts

I would like to make os.popen() available to python scripts added via the Zope management interface [1]. Following a previous posting, people pointed me to zope/lib/python/Products/PythonScripts/README.txt and Paul Winkler added to that a URL <http://www.zopelabs.com/cookbook/1074897091>. Following the README all I need do is create an __init__.py file with the content: from Products.PythonScripts.Utility import allow_module allow_module('os.popen') in an appropriate products folder. As this got me nowhere I dug around and found that "# These have been relocated, and should be imported from AccessControl" so I modified this to: from AccessControl import allow_module allow_module('os.popen') This I've done and indeed, I have the appropriate product listed in the Control Panel. When I call my testScript, it all works fine up to: return popen(cmd_str).read() Where cmd_str is a valid string which has been run in a standalone python environment. When I uncomment this line I get endless requests for a username:password pair from the browser. Quite obviously I'm doing something wrong. At this point in time I do not understand Zope at all and the more I read, the more confused I get :-( Can someone point me in the right direction? I've played with external scripts and started down the road of futzing with a product to do this. However, the simplest approach seems to be the one I following at the moment. local file system & external editor

Hi all ! My zope config : Zope 2.6.4 (binary release, python 2.1, win32-x86), python 2.1.3, win32 My problem : I'm using a < local file system > containing some picture (jpg). Its name is PHVFS Im' also using < external editor > I also have some picture (jpg) contained in a common zope folder (named TST_FOLDER) (nb : PHVFS & TST_FOLDER are at the same level in the tree of my zope server) I have configured ZopeEdit.ini so that all < jpg > pictures are open with MS Photo Editor (and all < txt > must be opened under MS WORD). I have a page template showing some URL : - when i'm editing a < jpg > from TST_FOLDER, Photo Editor comes ; I update the picture and I can save it. - when i'm editing a < txt > from TST_FOLDER (eg : a python script), MS WORD comes ; I update the file and I can save it - when i'm editing a < jpg > from PHVFS, Photo Editor comes ; I update the picture and I CANNOT save it. - when i'm editing a < txt > from PHVFS (eg : a notepad file), MS WORD comes ; I update the file and I CANNOT save it. By < cannot save it > I mean that the application agrees to close normally, but when I open the file again, the changes have not been registered. Can anybody tells me what happen ? SystemError: NULL object passed to Py_BuildValue

I have this weird error comming up at random intervals: SystemError: NULL object passed to Py_BuildValue It occurs in a Plone site but I don't think it's related to Plone. I have no access to some error log or to the Control Panel since it's showing me the Plone login form whenever I want to access to restricted information. Hi, Zope/Python does not break long strings. This little PythonScript show's it: ----------------------------------------------- longstring = "" x = "1234567890 " for i in range(1000): longstring+=x print """<script language="JavaScript">""" print "alert('%s');" % longstring print """</script>""" return printed ----------------------------------------------- But DTML produces many breaks.. Sorry, but you are misundertanding me. My problem is that: I have a webpage that is show the data in table (grid). Every data that have error is get a sign with error message. Sometimes this message is more than 255 character, so the <img title> is cannot show all chars in message. This is cause that I need to show the error in other format. So I want to alert it with javascript (img onclick). And this time I crashed in zope's "string handling speciality": When I write this: jsscript="alert('a long string with many spaces');" context.page(param=jsscript) that zope is separate the lines in ending ' sign like that: jsscript=alert('a long string with many spaces '); In this time the js interpeter is makes errors.
