I also saw that when you try to add an instance of the Scheduler, you need something called "Event service", which defaults to "portal_events". For the name, I guess it needs CMF too, right? Committing transaction by hand

I'm writing Zope product supposed to give shopping cart functionality. Order can be specified and completed by anonymous user; user should be prompted for password in latest possible moment, i.e. when throwing order to the cart. Order is remembered in session variable. When user decides that order is complete I call (from unrestricted code) something like: self.Cart().ThrowIn(self.REQUEST) Cart() returns instance of `current' shopping cart (one that user is currently using); when there is no current cart, one is created; when user isn't logged in, Unauthorized is raised. Cart is not calling object's own method but independent callable object acquired by calling object. Now when user isn't logged in, Cart() raises Unauthorized, user gets asked for login and password, and boom! We have no order data in REQUEST.SESSION after authentication. I read in one of recent posts on this list that it's because exception aborts ZODB transaction, so I tried to work around the problem by committing transaction before calling Cart(), so now our fragment looks like this: get_transaction().commit() self.Cart().ThrowIn(self.REQUEST) It seems to work for now but I'm not really sure if such messing with something usually done automagically by Zope won't have some obscure and nasty side effects. ldapuserfolder

The Ldapuserfolder is so sweet! (using it to authenticate against local AD) Only thing I need (or havent figured out) is: How can one assign roles to single users? Is it possible? I'm trying to make some sort of "hompages" where each user have access to and read/write permission to her own folder, but I am only able to assign roles to groups and not to individual users. csv import

I am trying to use the Python csv module to import a csv file into zope and then write the result to a RDBMS. The csv module requires an iterable file but the fileupload instance returned by: file=REQUEST.form("filename") Does not seem to be iterable. Is there a way to make it so? regards garry

upload a file to external method

I have a form which uploads a file called students.csv and i want to feed this file into an external method. As far as I have got is below - this is the contents of the external method, can anyone help correct this as it does not work. ZCatalog query

Hello, i search for a possibility to query a catalog like this: catalog({'meta_type':myobjecttype, [x for x in 'keyword-index' if x.find(mysubstring) != -1]}) Description: there is a metadata (keyword index) for urls in my catalog and i have to know the catalogentries with a matching substring in this keyword-index Example: catalog-entry1 -> ['/abc/def/123', '/ghi/123'] catalog-entry2 -> ['/ghi/123', '/abc'] catalog-entry3 -> ['/xyz/def/123', '/ghi/123'] and i search with '/abc' and wanna get entry1 and entry2 a simple iteration over all results (only filtered by meta_type) is much too slow! regards jens walte

root privileges required

Hello, I am looking for a way to start Zope (2.7.2) with root privileges *without* droping them later. I tried to set: effective-user root in the configuration file but it produced the same error... By now i have edited the source code fragment responsible for this check to override it. I was wondering if it can be [somehow] configured without tampering with zope source. Thanks.

Problem with zope and long strings - SOS

Hi ! My problem is that: I want to js.alert with long strings. I create these strings, and the complete js code. But zope is wrapping my strings like that: <script> function aaa{ jscode... s="xxxxxxx ........ "; jscode... }; </script> Everytime it is do that, so I cannot prevent that. But this format the JS interperter is making errors. Please help me: how to prevent the long string wrapping ? Thanx for help. Data Adapter connection string and Win32

I have a client that have their sql (interbase) database in a Windows XP directory: c:\Program Files\Somedirectory\data.gbd. The problem is that the space betwee Program and Files is causing: Invalid connection string: localhost:c:/Program Files/Eden.gdb sysdba masterkey So I tried quoting as 'localhost:c:/Program Files/SomeDirectory/data.gdb' userid password To separate the path from the userID and password. No luck. Googling was unproductive. I dont want to modify Connection.py. Any work-arounds or am I just missing a simple solution? David
