For learning purposes if I have a zope page tamplate form with a <select> using a dtml method as a action: <form action="dtml_method"> <select name="subject"> <option>Select</option> <option tal:repeat="result here/view_subject" value="" tal:attributes="value result/subject" tal:content="result/subject">data</option> </SELECT> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="submit"> </form> How would I access the value of subject in the dtml_method: <dtml-var subject> The above did not work. Any Ideas?

zope and PYTHONPATH

All- I run Plone2 over zope2.7 on a linux box. We have multiple python intances on our linux box. As zope is very picky about the python version, we have a python instance only for a zope. Also, we have our own applications in python (unrelated to zope) which need 3rd party modules. For that we have a different python binary at a different location. From zope's python I want to use the modules we developed and installed on the other python intance. So, I added the /usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages, the python for our local use, to PYTHONPATH by exporting PYTHONPATH from bash_profile. Invoking the script from the command line with zope's python works without an import error. However, zope/Plone combo wont startup with zopectl if I use one of those modules in a basic zope product I am trying to develop. It throws an ImportError. Am I missing something? Isnt it supposed to work that way? I realized maybe I need to make that change to PYTHONPATH in zope's startup script. So, I have changed the "zopectl" used to start zope+plone now, and printed the PYTHONPATH by using "env | grep PYTHONPATH" in the zopectl script. It is being set to what I want. However, the ImportError persists from zope's startup. I am surprised why it works, when I run the script that does the import, from the commandline and why it wont from zope's startup although the same PYTHONPATH is being set. Passing parameters to a dtml method from zpt

I have a dtml method, sendMail, that sends out an email: <dtml-sendmail smtphost="MailHost"> To: From: Subject: Email </dtml-sendmail> I need to pass a value to be used in the To: section of this sendmail. from the zope page template I have this: <a tal:attributes="href string:sendMail?email=email"....>email</a> Can anyone help me with this? funny import-bug?

Hello, i've got the following error while trying to import something, has anybody an idea about the reason? I tried to import a .zexp (deep structure with ~ 300MB). any ide for zope/python ?

Hi i am new to zope,but i have some experience in python programing with vim, i would like to know if there is a python ide with zope suport. I have tried komodo that doesnt have zope suport , but looks terrible in linux plus is very slow. And i dont consider wingide an option with that super high price. thanks.

Error with filenames during FTP

Are there any known issues when uploading via FTP files with names like:- content.asp%3Fcontent_category_id=1 I get a '426 Error creating file.' msg after it has been sent. What can I do about it? -- John

Oh no! FrontPage ;-). Some time ago (more than one year) somebody wanted to upload a website made with FronPage to our server. We saw it didn't upload some files, then we figured out that this software creates temporary files starting with "_" (underscore). Try to find those, make a copy of the contents and delete the temporary files. We also detected that normal html files were uploaded as dtml documents (Perhaps this has changed, I haven't used ftp since a long time), so, if you have some invalid expressions that conflict with dtml, it won't create the file on zope. Don't answer me what kind of expressions, I don't remmember it, but I can tell you they weren't dtml at all. >I can't see anything about 'relaxing Zope id restriction'. You could break something else, and if you succeeded, then you will have to remmember to do this each time you upgrade your zope; otherwise, you will have a lot of nice broken links. I think the best way is to manually edit the conflicting pages. Conclusion: Don't use FrontPage. It adds extra unnecessary info to your pages. Don't even edit your html files with word. I saw once that this software changes all the slashes on your paths for backslashes, so your site will work perfect on IE, but it will fail with other browsers (netscape 4.x comes in mind, mozilla I think copes with this) Finally don't use ftp, it's insecure. You had better user localfs with scp (google for winscp for windows systems).
