memory-leak, would the chrism-setrlimit "patch" help?

Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone knows why this way of restarting zope in case of memory leaks never made it to the HEAD? http://cvs.zope.org/Zope/Attic/z2.py.diff?r1=1.56&r2=1.55.10.1&only_with_ta… AutoLance used to work nice, but seems not to be updatead any more, so it's no option for Zope-2.7 and linux-2.6. I've seen some suggestions for external tests, like http://www.zopewiki.org/CheckZopeMem, but chris' way seems to be so much simpler. Does anyone know if the setrlimit solution has problems? Zope, Excel, CookieCrumbler and MS Internet Explorer

I tried this Zopelab's tip: http://www.zopelabs.com/cookbook/1075841024 .. with the idea of allowing my clients to open simple tables within their Excel spreadsheets. Using IE (our primary target browser) tt works fine sometimes, but most of the time they get an error message from IE itself that tells it can't download the file, after having showed the dialog Open|Save|Cancel. No relevant error message appears in the event log neither in the site error log object. Curious thing is that in that dialog box ( Open|Save|Cancel ), sometimes the file type appears and sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't, it means the problem is about to happen. So after digging a little with Shane's Tcpwatch I've noticed that the file would open only whether a basic authentication header was sent, in despite of the cookie information (that is always sent). This problem only happens in IE. Using Opera or Firefox won't show any problem. Also I'm using CookieCrumbler, so after I removed the "login" object at the root of my app, IE is no longuer showing problems. Has anyone had this same experience and eventually come up with a workaround that still uses cookies authentication? Thanks in advance, Ausum

Hi, I have a little problem query my databasetable and get the total value of a numeric field "garantiewert". <dtml-var total-garantiewert> is alwas empty. For example <dtml-var count-garantiewert> works. I'm using zope 2.6.1. <dtml-in SelectGarantiewerte> <dtml-var garantiewert><br> <dtml-if sequence-end> <dtml-var total-garantiewert><br> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> Can somebody help me? Thanks, Patrick

Hi Tom, Yes I have been struggling with this issue this week. The whole big picture is that I need to sort my table which contains the data from a zsql method. But, I have several elements that I need to deal with. First of all, my page template contains a requested expand/collapse feature using javascript that once a row of data is clicked a new table will expand that contains more related data of that row. I have to paths: 1)I have javascript already that will sort the visible data in my table but it will not sort the corresponding hidden table that is visible when clicked. So, when I click a row of data the wrong hidden table displays. 2)This is why I was looking at finding a way to redefine the results by clicking on the appropriate header. So, I wanted each heading on my table to trigger the right zsql method that already contains the desired sort and reassigning it to the batch results and then display accordingly. So, I don't know which path to continue with and beat with a stick till I get it working. Thanks, Laura

Bulk uploads

Folks, We've had a number of requests from customers to allow bulk upload of images and various content types (Open Office documents, etc.) into a Zope/Plone Content Management System. There doesn't seem to be any standard way of doing this built into Zope. The question I have is "Why?" Has the Zope Corporation ever considered building this functionality into their FTP or WebDAV server? I'd like to see something like the following: 1. User has a folder on his Linux/Windows file system with one or more content types (images, OO docs,Word docs, etc.) 2. User does a drag and drop to a WebDAV folder which appears to the client to be just another folder on the disk. 3. The webDav server automatically determines the content type and creates it in the selected target folder using the appropriate factory when it receives the file, and uses the "file" factory if it can't automatically determine the file type... Moving from Linux to FreeBSD - problems with old Zope instances

Hello, I'm about to migrate a server from Linux (Mandrake 9.2) to FreeBSD-5.2.1. I have moved my Zope-2.7 instances without a problem. Now ... my 2.6.1 instances are not migrated very well. Some of them runs like a charm. Others core dumps when you access the sites for the first time. The same goes for one of my two 2.5 instances. It just crashes when the site is accessed for the first time. Now I suspect python to be the problem here. With Zope-2.7 you needed to compile python with bigger thread size on BSD in order for it to work. Do I need to compile python with anything special to make them work with older Zope instances (I'm using python 2.1.3 for this). I really don't get this but I'm sure there is some reasonable explanation once I figure out what is happening :-) Greetings, Gitte Wange

Zope Error

Hello, I have installed Zope 2.6 on my prior server and setup my setting and it works successfully. However, I am currently migrated to another server which is having Zope 2.7.2 OR 2.6 and have uploaded by Data.fs. The problem I encounter: 1. It seems to be working fine when browsing http://ip_address:8080 <http://ip_address:8080/> 2. I tried to browse http://ip_address:8080/manage, but failed to login using the correct username and password. I have tested using the brand new Data.fs, it seems to be working fine. Temporary Folder Object Creation

Is it possible to create an object of type Temporary Folder at or below the root level? I tried doing this via the ZMI but it isn't one of the object types that appears in the list. Is there another way of doing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. - Asad

ZODB connection pool (defined in ZODB/DB.py)

The size of the pool defaults to 7. Except for testing code, I do not believe that it is larger for any DB instance. What's the relationship between this pool size and the number of Zope threadsi, if any?
