SSL and Session Data

Is there a difference in how Zope handles session data (i.e. anything stored within the SESSION attribute of the REQUEST object) when it is running with and without SSL? For some reason, when I access Zope securely (i.e. https://...) my session data is not retained as I access different pages of my application. This does not happen when I use http://... to access Zope. I was able to determine this by using <dtml-var "REQUEST.SESSION"> in my DTML documents. Any help would be greatly appreciated. local roles

Hello, Can local roles can be made appear somewhere but with acquisition? like, If I have two folders in zope root, test1 and test2, inside folder test1 is an object which holds local roles. /(zope root, folder, whatever) |-test1(folder, holds local roles) \-more folders&objects |-test2 \ folders&objects Now, being in folder test2, can I somehow make zope go and look for roles from folder test1 Case isn't that simple, so, I can't use global roles, or move local roles from one place to another Or any other possible solutions? Somehow mirror roles from one place to another? Vahur

including arbitrary files in zope products

Hi, I am facing a basic problem with Zope that I'm unable to solve. I want to embed a java applet (jar) in my zope product. The jar file lives as "<Product Basedir>/www/foo.jar" on the filesystem. I want to make this available as "<Product Instance Dir>/foo.jar" inside zope. To include ZPT files, I'm able to do - from Products.PageTemplates.PageTemplateFile import PageTemplateFile ... class Foo(Folder): ... index_html = PageTemplateFile('zpt/index_html', globals()) and make zpt files available inside zope. How can I do the same for arbitrary files such as java archives and others? I don't know how to use the "File" object for this purpose. Can someone please help? Thanks in advance. - Raja

Mounting secondary ZEO storages

When I tried to update an *existing* setup to migrate it from a single Zope server to using ZEO, and then using the session_folder / Session-Data ZEO setup, it doesn't work - session_folder just gets created in the existing Data.fs. I tried deleting session_folder and restarting before re-adding the folder, to no avail. The "sessions" storage is mounted - it appears in the control panel. It just doesn't get used. Any hints? Newbie Zope Question

I am trying to build a table of properties for each object located in a folder. I can get the objects OK, but it doesn't seem to be able to pick the user-defined properties (although it does pick up the title property just fine). Here is the code. No easy way that I know of. A few options: 1) Figure out the API and write a script to do it 2) Export/import the container If you don't want the whole container as it is now, one option would be to move or copy the objects around into a temporary container and then export/import that container. Value of a Session Variable

I have a variable which I have placed in the SESSION attribute of the REQUEST object. This variable is being initialized to a value of None by a DTML method. If an error occurs after a form is submitted, the value of this variable is set to the type of error that occurs. In the event that an error does occur, the user is redirected to an error page. From the error page, the user has the opportunity to return to the form via a hyperlink. I need to use the value of this variable in this form but it exists sometimes and other times it doesn't. The suprising part is that it always exists on the error page. Simply by clicking on the link on the error page, the value of this variable is sometimes lost. I am using Safari as my browser. Has anyone else experienced the same problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. - Asad

Export multiple objects at once?

I'm trying to abandon an instance of Zope for a newer one but I have objects (ZWiki pages and such) that I want to export and import into the new instance. Zope thread failure

Hello, I'm having a strange problem with Zope and I'm hoping someone has seen a similar problem and can give a direction to look next. At this point, I'm totally baffled at the problem. I have a muli-thread application. I recently added a python class and derived it from SimpleItem to make the class persistent in the Zope DB. As soon as I did this, Zope started to fail on me, giving me the traceback shown in the attachment. Let's call the class 'info'. It is instantiated in a class 'person' and all instances of class person exist in the folder called 'personcontainer'. I checked the initialization and the folder gets properly populated with all 'person' objects. If the class in is defined: class Info: ... all runs well, but my instances are not persistent. If the class is defined: class Info(SimpleItem): ... then when the program iterates on the objects in the personcontainer, using personcontainer.objectItems() no person instances are found.
