Need to programmatically change image content

Hello, I need to programmatically replace the 'content' (e.g. the image file data, if I grok correctly) of an Image object with new data via file upload from web form. I imagine I could just delete the existing object and then add the new one... Lost the path to my DTMLFile in my product

Hello, I've written a python product that loads DTML pages from a /dtml folder in my product... works fine. When I moved my environment to Linux, Zope is still looking on my old heirarchy. get_transaction().commit() exceptions

Hi, We are using MailManager from logicalware (http://mailmanager.sourceforge.net/) This application stores its data as objects in the ZODB. A seperate thread checks the email server and saves new tickets (emails) to the ZODB. This mail-checking thread somtimes gets ConflictError at the call to get_transaction().commit(). This exception goes unhandled and the mail-checking thread dies. This means that the product will still work - it just won't retreive any email messages. Is it a good idea to try and catch this exception? If so what should we do with it? will catching it stop the mail-checking thread from dying? zope generating page with old data

Hello zopistas, I have a page, that executes a job which calculates some numbers and then displays the resulting data in a table. The time of the calculation is recorded for each record in the db with a timestamp. Sometimes zope displays the timestamp of the previous calculation, mostly that of the actual calculation, which would be right. What can cause Zope to display the timestamp of the previous calculation. cookie crumbler - preserving variables in URL

I'm using cookie crumbler for authentication Often, the pages that require authentication have a variables on the end of the URL. http://www.site.org/updateListing_html?pid=22 After authentication, these variables get dropped generating an error for the dropped variable redirects to: http://www.site.org/updateListing_html How can I modify the cookie crumbler methods to pass these variables and redirect to the proper URL? thanks -- David

Interest in continued Oracle support in Zope

[Sent to zope-db as well, this version better edited] Greets, ladies and gentlemen. I worry about the future of Oracle support in Zope, and in Python, too, for that matter. So I am wondering what interest there actually is for having Oracle support in Python/zope, I have a few questions: (Oracle support = having quality Oracle connectivity from python/Zope) 1) Does anyone else out there have a business case for using Oracle with Python/Zope? 2) Will those from (1) suffer badly, ie. will switch from Python or Zope to something else, if Oracle support in Python/Zope would dissapear? 3) Will those from (1) suffer badly, ie. will switch from Python or Zope to something else, if Oracle support is not improved? (ie less crashes, better throughput, etc). 4) Of those who say yes to at least one of 1-3, which ones can invest actual cash to create and maintain good quality Oracle Support in Python/Zope? 5) Of those who say yes to at least one of 1-3, which ones can invest *time* to create and maintain good quality Oracle Support in Python/Zope? What are the sentiments of other people on this list? I myself say yes to 1-3; however, at the moment I can only invest time (somewhat limited) and no cash. Also, I seem to be one of those that really stretch the limits on DCOracle2 - we use it super-extensivly for thousends of users, and seem to encounter all kinds of problems with it, ranging from lockups to connectivity loss. So I am interested in finding out if there actually are people using Oracle with Zope/Python and what their thoughts are. You are asking for something to happen after someone clicks a link on the page displayed in a browser - the client. At this point, Zope has replaced the page template with the actual markup for the web page, and has sent the page to the browser. There are no page variables or templates anymore. They are gone and forgotten. To get an action to happen on the browser, you have two possibilities - 1) Make it happen within the browser using javascript, or 2) Send a form from the browser to the server, and have the server (Zope)create a new page that contains the changes you want (as well as all the unchanged parts). 1) does not involve page templates at all, since it does not involve Zope in any way. You need to think more carefully about what you want to happen, and where it should happen. Then we can give you more useful help. Cheers, Tom P

A TAL variable is a server side element while a click on a link is a client side event, and HTTP is a request/response protocol. When you click on a link there are no TAL variables, they have been destroyed when the page template processing has finished, so you can't change them from the client. However you can change the way the page template behaves (the values of the TAL variables) the next time a request is performed by adding something to the request that makes it "different" (a query_string parameter, a cookie ...). Try adding a parameter to the link. In the page template check if the parameter has been submitted, if not show view_pc_sql results, if yes show view_sortSysName. Here you should be careful when creating the batch links, they must include the parameter when required in order to show the next/previous results from the same query. Probably there are simpler solutions depending on what you're trying to do.
