Ok. Is the pool-size option usable for Zeo connections ? I am trying to increase the number of ZServer threads, so I guess I need to increase the number of Zeo connections too. Well, there are two hard limits, one for DB.open() calls that pass a non-empty string as the value of the optional version= argument (that limit is version-pool-size), and the other is for all other DB.open() calls (connections not "in a version", & that limit is pool-size). If you don't use versions (which are, as Chris said, deprecated), version-pool-size has no effect. If you try to open more Connections than the appropriate limit, the DB.open() call will block until a Connection of the requested flavor (version versus non-version) is closed. Dynamically generating JavaScript

I have a page template within with I would like to embed some dynamically generated JavaScript. Say the following sample snippet: <script> var1 = 1; var2 = 2; var3 = 3; </script> The 'obvious' approach I came up with is the follow zpt code: <script> <tal:block tal:repeat="i python:range(1,4,1)"> var<span tal:replace="i"/> = <span tal:replace="i"/> </tal:block> </script> However, this code doesn't even compile correctly, with the error: TAL.HTMLTALParser.NestingError: Open tag <script> does not match close tag </tal:block> If instead I replace the <script> and </script> tags with things like <html> and </html>, the code compiles. Obviously, I am missing a very important point about the way zpt works, but I can't find what. Maybe it is not suitable for this kind of task and I shall use DTML or PythonScript instead? Ape backwards

I wonder if there exist examples of how Ape was used to integrate an existing RDB into Zope. The webpage says: Ape, the Adaptable Persistence Engine, adapts Python objects to storage on the filesystem, in relational databases, or practically anywhere else. But I want to do it the other way... adapt Python objects to represent data in a relational database. Do you have any pointers about this? Or other products that could be of interest? ssl certificate based authentication

I would like to have the users of my site authenticated via ssl certificates. Authentication works well with apache2, and I would like to have my zope working behind the proxy module of apache. I would not find it neccessary to leave the authentication to be done by apache, but I expect it to be simplier. I've found a product (SSL Certificate Authenticator Product), that uses apache's authentication, but it is only able to pass userinformation via pcgi connection to zope. I could not find any other zope product for this problem, however, this way is mentioned in the zope Wikis, as a common authentication method. (http://zope.org/Wikis/DevSite/Projects/ComponentArchitecture/StandardAuthen…) Is there a common (or uncommon) solution for this case? The second level of my question is, how to do all this if I need the advantages of the Groups User Folder? thanks, ger

ChartDirector and Zope

Has anyone gotten the (excellent) ChartDirector charting library to work with zope? Here's what I have tried: 1. Created an ExternalMethod named barchart.py, in the Extensions folder: #!/usr/bin/python2.3 def drawBarChart(): from pychartdir import * #The data for the bar chart data = [85, 156, 179.5, 211, 123] #The labels for the bar chart labels = ["Mon", "Tue", "Wed", "Thu", "Fri"] #Create a XYChart object of size 250 x 250 pixels c = XYChart(250, 250) #Set the plotarea at (30, 20) and of size 200 x 200 pixels c.setPlotArea(30, 20, 200, 200) #Add a bar chart layer using the given data c.addBarLayer(data) #Set the x axis labels using the given labels c.xAxis().setLabels(labels) #output the chart print "Content-type: image/png\n" binaryPrint(c.makeChart2(PNG)) 2. Michael, I'll take a look at the Transience product. We have tried using FileStorage but to the same effect unfortunately. Splitting the "Add Documents, Images, and Files" permission
