I would imagine you'd have to look in the Product initialisation code to see if it does anything that would cause a different outcome if repeated on the same ZOPE process. Authorization problem with python module

Hi Everyone, I have a security problem with a python script in Zope (2.7.0). I try to import a not very common python module to use some of is method in my script. In the _init_.py of the product that use this module, I have checked if "allow_module" and "allow_class" is correctly set ans all seems to be ok. The problem is when I use one of the method of a class of that module in my script, a message box appear asking for my login and password and if I write my user name and password (manager) it doesn't work. I receive message like: you have not the authorization to access this method in that context... Someone have an idea of what I'm doing wrong? Is there a way to bypass this security check? You might want to do something like what's below and call GetDBC() upon every EM entry. It will reuse the current connection if it's present, otherwise it opens a new one. kisSQL is my own module that wraps around mysql. What drove me crazy for a bit and resulted in tons of hung db conenctions was I stupidly a forgot to put a delete method in my kisSQL class. How to POST java serialized object to a zope(python) script?

Hello, I am trying to find a way to pass data from a java applet into zope. Don't know how to get the serialized object into the zope python script. With html forms I'd just use container.REQUEST, but it doesn't work in this case. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, -- Gary Zhu

Global variables in ExternalMethod modules

Dear Zopistas I'm trying to work out what the rules are for global (that is, module-level) variables in a module that contains external methods. The scenario: we have a single module (.py file) in the Extensions subdirectory of the instance directory, which contains all our external methods plus many helper methods. Amongst other things, this module contains a lot of methods that perform database queries to an associated MySQL database. The same module is also used by non-Zope Python tasks, so the queries are all direct, not via Zope SQL products. As part of the ongoing optimization of the code, I've been looking at having a single MySQLdb connection per Zope thread, and re-using this for all SQL queries. My understanding was that if I declare a connection variable at module level, like so: databaseConnection = None I could then initialize it in a method that's called at the start of handling every request, but re-use the value between requests. However, it *appears* that the value of the databaseConnection variable is (nearly) always None when any new request starts, as though the module were being reloaded afresh for every one. Thus there seems to be no way to keep per-thread module-level variables. This is on our test platform, where the Zope instance is running in debug-mode. We've also noticed an odd connection leak on our production server, where Zope is not running in debug-mode. It *appears* as though the __del__ methods of MySQLdb.Connection objects are not being called (and thus the connections are remaining open indefinitely). We've recently started wrapping Connection objects in a class of our own, and tracing __init__ and __del__ calls for that also appears to bear out that theory. All this on Zope 2.7.3, Python 2.3.4, Linux. So; is there a quick-n-easy summary of how module-level variables behave in ExtensionMethod modules? Is there any reason that, in a non-debug environment, the __del__ methods of simple Python objects may not be called? Regards to all Ben Last

PAM Authentication & RSA Authentication Manager

Hey Everyone, Any information I have found related to utilizing PAM for authentication dates back in 1999, so I'm assuming some solution has been found and I'm just not seeing it or the issue was dropped. I'm interested in implementing PAM for authentication mainly because I ideally need authentication that draws from a variety of sources including RSA's Authentication Manager.
