Images showing as pages in web log stats / analysis

Hi Images and other non-html objects in Zope have no obligation to end in a certain extension, e.g. .jpg. This is causing us trouble with web log analysis: images are showing up as pages and badly distorting the usage statistics. Has anyone found a web stats packages that can be configured to understand what a 'page' is, e.g. looking at the content-type header, which can be logged by Apache? The only contingency we have is to pre-process the logs and append extensions ourselves before passing to the web stats package, but this is not an ideal solution as there are commercial issues related to advertising etc. - they don't like the logs being messed with. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks, Felix.

Localizer question

Hi, I have been using iTools 0.5.0, iHotfix 0.5.0, Localizer 1.1.0b2 and TranslationService 0.4... (on Zope 2.7.4 + CMF 1.5.0) But checking the TranslationService page on Zope.org, it says that one should use Localizer 1.0.1, because the 1.1.x branch is not supported... Also, I can't find anything anymore concerning iHotFix/iTools. So, I am confused. In order to get the i18n: TAL tags getting their text from Localizer MessageCatalogs, what exactly do I need to install ? Thanks a lot. Dear people, I have a survey form that has about 26 fields in them and I want to put the data into a postgresql database via a psycopg adapter. Problem is when i build the insert using a zsql, do i have to manually create each field using <dtml-sqlvar ? seems very long and unproductive way to do it. Doing it using an external method, I will loose the niceties of dtml-sqlvar such as auto escaping of input and such. Suggestions anyone ? __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Problem accessing Plone site

Hi everyone, I have problem accessing my Zope/Plone site. I'm on Windows XP pro. Normally, with a fresh ip adress (dynamic ip) I should be able to access my site on my machine or from any others but nothing work. On my machine, I receive an authorization error and on any other, a standard error. Someone know what configuration or parameter I should check to fix my problem? Thanks a lot Etienne

installing PIF in win32 zope

I am a newbie working through the zope book and tutorials. The zope book examples regarding Image manipulation states that the python PIF is required. The only info I can find for installing PIF is Unix/Linux oriented.. I am using the zope binary, and my config (as copied from control panel) is: Zope Version (Zope 2.7.4-0, python 2.3.4, win32) Python Version 2.3.4 (#53, May 25 2004, 21:17:02) [MSC v.1200 32 bit (Intel)] System Platform win32 SOFTWARE_HOME C:\Program Files\Zope-2.7.4-0\lib\python ZOPE_HOME C:\Program Files\Zope-2.7.4-0 INSTANCE_HOME C:\Zope-Instance CLIENT_HOME C:\Zope-Instance\var is PIF included already? (in which case the exapmles failed) and if not, how do I install it into the existing zope?? I do not have a separate python installation, just the one with zope. I have the win32 install for PIF (1.1.4) but it complains about not finding a python installed in the registry, and fails. lil' help please? Ian No virus found in this outgoing message. RE: Zope and mod_python

Thanks for the quick reply. A first very simple ApacheBench looked promising : + Apache2/mod_python with default number of Apache threads, etc vs + Zope instances with default number of threads shows that Apache2/mod_python is about 2 times faster. But this does not prove lots yet, as default number of Apache threads is high. I will try to optimize my zhandler code, specially the ZPublisher response (string containing the whole HTTP response) to mod_python response (I have to read HTTP headers and HTTP body to correctly set the reponse). I will probably just extend mod_python response object to be Zope Publisher compliant. I got the logging working (I mean the event log, cause of course Z2.log is useless as I don't run any ZServer). Well, each mod_python interpreter running one Zope handler print to the same log file, but at least it works. About the clean shutdown : as I don't run any ZServer, maybe there is nothing particular to do ? I have been looking at LifeTime.py code and it looks like shutdown code is only for ZServers. I have not done a proper experiment but my impression is that if zope is busy, it takes a really long time to shut down when the zeo server has died... maybe there are write transactions pending and zope is patiently waiting for a zeo connection to handle them.
