Importing a site with missing products

I need to duplicate (for testing) a site currently running on Windows on to Linux. This isn't a big deal. I've done the reverse direction without grief. However, on this occasion, I want to change the database connector from MS SQL Server to (mxodbc) to PostgreSQL (zpsycopgda) . Having exported the live site, I am unable to import it again in the test environment because of the following errors: WARNING ZODB Could not import class 'ZopeConnection' from module 'Products.mxODBCZopeDA.ZopeDA' INFO Script (Python) Some of your Scripts have stale code cached. Since Zope cannot use this code, startup will be slightly slower until these Scripts are edited. You can automatically recompile all Scripts that have this problem by visiting /manage_addProduct/PythonScripts/recompile of your server in a browser. Although the first error is only a warning it appears to be fatal and the import doesn't complete. I also tried following the advice on the INFO message but was told there were no scripts to update. What I'd like is for the import to complete so I can sort out the database connectors. Anyone any suggestions? Creating and displaying lists

Hi, I need to collect a list of student id numbers from one table so I can take this list, find them in another table, and display their names so their teachers can give them a score. I still like to use DTML but I do not know if I have the sequence-number in the proper format. How to best use Zope on SMP machines?

Hi :) I am to use Zope on a SMP machine which has 2 Xeon HT cpus (so 4 logical processors). As far as I know Python is not multithreaded, so the full potential of the server will not be used... How can I change that? I was thinking about running a couple of identical instances connected with ZEO and then using some load balancing between them. Do you think this is a good idea? How many instances should I use on a machine I have described, four? Are there any cons of such a configuration? I am open to any suggestions on how to use the machine's power best :-) Best regards, Maciej

absolute_url is empty in __getattribute__?

Making Zope Accessible From Internet

I have successfully gotten a Plone installation to serve requests on localhost. Next, I would like to have it serve remote requests. I'm using a dialup account and therefore a dynamic IP. I have tried shutting down the firewall, manually entering the current IP of my machine in the YaST "Hosts" dialogue but Zope doesn't appear to get the requests. From what I've managed to partially digest about networking, this could be missing configuration in the routing tables, DNS lookup, network interface, etc. Etc. Etc. I don't think it's actually something as simple as the zope.conf file, or even anything I can learn from studying Apache configuration. Does this seem accurate? -TR

But I need to view it in a dtml-method. If you want to use plain vanilla html then you need to use the img tag to display the image. The img tag causes the browser to initiate a new http request to the server, therefore the server needs a way to return the image (ie. a path/id). There are two ways (that I know of, but there are probably other ways) around this situation: 1) store the image in a temporary folder (a folder that uses RAM not written to disk via the zodb); you need to be careful with memory utilization with this approach. 2) you may be able to send the data back in a javascript variable and then execute javascript on the browser in order to display the image (mulit-browser support will be an issue with this option) Jonathan

I am stuck on trying to preview images that are uploaded from a html form. <form method="POST" action="py_save_new_image" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <input type="file" name="file"> <input type="submit" name="save" value="Upload"> When the form is submited it sends it to a python script that gets the image and sends it to another page to be previewed. Problem is, I receive and error that the image cannot be displayed. My python script is below. Override members values

Hi all! I need to override the value of some members of my product I think the correct way was __getattr__ function but I read some list's messages telling to use __getattr__ only if you don't have other way How can I override only the value of some dynamic members? I call dynamic members to the members that the user adds (with a property or an object) Why? Check Zope status

Hi All, We're having a few problems with our Zope server, it seems to be crashed but were not sure whether it is actually crashed or merely waiting (a long time) for a response from LDAP to authenticate our users, which may be causing it to hang. Is there any tool we can use to test to see if Zope has actally crashed? Jon

Zope 2.7 installation on SuSE 10.0 - unable to find startup script

This is rather bizarre, but I'm unable to determine what script to run to start my Zope instance. I installed 2.7.7-3, which comes with the distro, and ran mkzopeinstance.py, which terminated without errors after asking for the instance home and site admin id/password. Isn't there supposed to be a startzope.py somewhere? The closest thing I could find was the following: [/opt/zope/lib/python/Zope/App] > python startup.py Traceback (most recent call last): File "startup.py", line 16, in ? from AccessControl.SecurityManagement import getSecurityManager ImportError: No module named AccessControl.SecurityManagement Even wierder, my installation contains an AccessControl.SecuritySuite package with a SecurityBase module - no SecurityManager. Can anyone shed some light, here? -Tom Russell
