Hi, does Zope run on Jython, or is anyone working on making it do so? Any pointers would be very helpful. a LocalFS that works

Hi list, I am playing with two Zope servers version: Zope 2.9.3-, python 2.4.2, darwin and Zope 2.8.5-final, python 2.3.5, sunos5 My problem is where to find a LocalFS that works? I tried version 1.0, I patched it, but it didn't work. I also saw things like LocalFS-1.3-andreas.tar.gz (even 1.7!) but from 2004/2005 or PloneLocalFS (or now PloneSingleLocalFS!), but alpha. To summarize, I am lost. A link would be very welcome. Thanks in advance. Custom authentication page...

I'm just starting to look at Zope as a potential platform to implement a simple authenticated web site... however I do not want to face users with the standard web-browser dialogue, but rather my own log-in page. I've established how to restrict access based upon permissions etc... and I'm able to set/reset cookies based a form submission - but do not see how to integrate an HTML login page with the standard Zope security. I've read that I should use the "Cookie Crumbler" product... but after I've added this to the folder that I intend to protect, I click on cookie_authentication (the default name for the "Cookie Crumbler" object) and I get the following error message: -- An error was encountered while publishing this resource. *Error Type: AttributeError* *Error Value: aq_parent* -- Is this a bug with "Cookie Crumbler" (version 0.3 downloaded from zope.org used against Zope 2.9.4, python 2.4.3, win32)? Am I barking up the wrong tree in hoping to have a slick-looking "logon" page? Is this something commonly done using Zope? Is "Cookie Crumbler" the right product? Would I be better hand-coding this myself?

I have a new problem but it's related, so I'll keep this thread alive. To recap: possibly due to some network problems at my hosting provider, my Zope would periodically stop responding and I was unable to stop, restart or kill it, or even restart the machine remotely. I am operating within a FreeBSD jail. Finally, I was given a password to the main os environment, allowing me to restart, which I have needed to do once. While waiting for my ISP to resolve his problems, I thought it would be a good idea to relieve any excess strain on Zope. Part of the strategy involved setting Squid to ignore no-cache headers. Call me an anti-social protocol violator, but it's still my website and I set the caching headers according to the page update schedule. But I digress. Anyway, with response times improved, friendly search engines went into a feeding frenzy and within 48 hours my ZODB had reached 9GB. Packing time... Problem with upgrade from Zope 2.6.1 to Zope 2.9.4

passing *args to external method

Hi List! I've been trying without success to pass from a form in ZPT to an external method an undefined list of parameters (*args). An example: def external_method(var_fix,*args): return 'Vals',var_fix,args ... file _sub_html_: <FORM ACTION="external_method" METHOD="POST" ENCTYPE="multipart/form-data"> <input type="text" name="var_fix" value=""> <input type="hidden" name="arg1" value="test1"> <input type="hidden" name="arg2" value="test2"> <INPUT TYPE="SUBMIT" VALUE="Submit"> </FORM> returns typed value for var_fix and () for args. However, if I do: def external_method(var_fix,arg1,arg2,*args): return "Vals",var_fix,arg1,arg2,args it returns values of arg1 and arg2. But my problem is that the number args cannot be fixed since such arguments depends on other page. I hope one can understand it. And I'd appreciate very much any attention. Many thanks in advance. How can I get a listing of all objects in the Zope 2.62 ZODB?

In Oracle it is easy to get a listing of everything that is in the Oracle database. One simply queries the system view dba_objects. Is there anything similar for the Zope 2.62 ZODB? I have been using Squishdot at goodbyejim.com for years. I still don't understand it. I would love to be able to see everything that it dumps into the ZODB. I understand that one can look at the Squishdot source to find out. But it ought to be possible to query the ZODB directly and observe all of the objects that are in it. Jonathan Mark

zeoctl logreopen doesn't work

Hi, since i'm running my zeo.log at debug level in grows quite large. I've tried to rotate the log daily by renaming the zeo.log and call zeoctl logreopen. ./bin/zeoctl logreopen kill(6319, 31) signal 31 sent to process 6319 But no new zeo.log is created and all log entries still go to the old file. How can I get zeo to create a new logfile without restarting the zeo server completely. LDAPUserFolder : findUser function usage in LDAPUserFolder ver 2.7

Dear users, we hv upgraded from LDAPUserFolder version 2.2 to LDAPUF version 2.7. our current installation ov zope is 2.9.4 now we hv a problem, in our application we hv calls to the findUser function findUser('pa',uid) where 'pa' is LDAP attribute and uid is value. with LDAPUF ver 2.2 it works fine and returns the count of number of records matching attribute 'pa' with value uid. after upgrade to LDAPUF 2.7 this function returns 1 for all cases. we hv read tht in 2.7 a new function has been added searchUsers and findUser has been reduced to a wrapper around searchUsers. can anybody suggest the corresponding line of code for using searchUsers or how to use findUser('pa',uid) in version 2.7. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks and regards -yogeen __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
