Hi Joerg, Thank you for the tips to install Abracadabra. I have also installed PropertyTools. I tried to follow the tutorial to in the read me file "building contact-database" for PropertyTools. a.. Create a folder called contacts. a.. Create a "standard_object_folder" in contacts. a.. Enter the "standard_object_folder", add a PropertyTools-Object and edit the property-sheet. Add new properties "email", "homepage" and "phone" as string-types. a.. Go to the Manage-Tab: Set Object-Type = Contact, Unlock "Extensible Properties". a.. Enter your contacts folder. a.. Create a Catalog with id=Catalog. a.. Add some contacts with the AbracadabraObject. At this point i was expecting that the contacts i added to auto catalog. But nothing like that happened. Is there something i was missing out. What i want is this: I have 2 Zcatalogs current_catalog and archive _catalog. I use current_catalog to store only current articles. What I do everyday is to create the articles (DTML Doc), clear the current_catalog and catalog the new artcles using the article_id. My problem here is that even if I am succeeded in making the articles to auto catalog, how do i handle the issue of clearing the catalog before cataloging the new ones. I have about 13,000 articles in one of the sections and this is reason behind having 2 Zcatalogs. The site displays the current articles to visitors therefore i have to streamline the number of records in the current_catalog. Having it in mind that just few visitors want to view the old or previous artcles, the archive_catalog is use to serve it. Hi, I'm trying to do a batch add of users to the standard acl_users folder. Note quite a total success or total failure just yet. First I made a text file (usr_pwd.txt) in the form of password space username. and placed it (temporarily) in the Extensions directory. Then an external method (LoadUsers) to read it: def LoadUsers(self): f=open('/var/lib/zope/Extensions/usr_pwd.txt', 'r') y=f.readlines() return y And a script (user_load): ## Script (Python) "user_load" ##bind container=container ##bind context=context ##bind namespace=_ ##bind script=script ##bind subpath=traverse_subpath ##parameters= ##title= ## y=context.LoadUsers() for x in y: z=x.split(' ') acl = container.restrictedTraverse( '/foobar/acl_users' ) acl.userFolderAddUser( z[1], z[0], '', '' ) return 0 I hit the Test tab and now I have an acl_users folder full of users with the correct user names, and their passwords show the correct number of characters, however I can't log in using any of the user/password combinations. Should the path '/foobar/acl_users' been simply '/foobar/' or '/foobar' ? Any suggestions? Thanks, Sean

Hi, thank you for taking the time to read this. 1. I'm trying to learn to write a website using zope, the progress is good but i need to understand how can i call an zope object (ZPT or SQL or Script) from a script in this setup: /root /mysite /db sql_do_something /script call_sql_do_something index_html i tryed to call it using sql_do_something = context['db/sql_do_something'] hoping that maybe using aquisition ... i can get the script ... but i get the message that he can't find the object. the only way i managed to call it is ... if the files are in the same dir. im currently using them this way ... but it's gonna get a mess soon, all those scripts and sql and ZPT in the same dir. 2. I'm not writing products, just simple ZPT and script ... and i want version control for them, i have svn installed but ... the files are all inside zope database (i don't even know how the database file is named). Is there a svn plugin or a way to add those files to repository? I think that adding the entire zope database is a bit awkward ... hard to diff etc. 3. Almost the same as the svn problem ... i want to backup my files from time to time .. db and code, i know how to backup my mysql db, but i don't know how to get the zope files. I think i i find the answer for the question nb 2, number 3 will be the same. Thank you, expert Zope programmers.
