Temporarily "Losing" User Authentication in Folders and DTML Documents

This is a perplexing problem. I'm migrating a site from Zope 2.2 to 2.9.7. From the old site, I exported a set of .zexp files, and simply imported them into the new site (in the same folder structure). In the root directory, all of the imported files and folders work as expected. However, when I go into an imported folder, and access one of it's folders, my users temporarily "lose" their authentication. As a diagnostic measure, I wrote some code to display their username for each page. In the pages/folders in the root directory, it displays their proper username. However, when I drill down into the site (e.g., folder of a folder), the username goes to "Anonymous User" and the code (which changes what is displayed based on the user's role), displays according to an anonymous user rather than the actual username. Note, however, that the true authentication is not lost. If the user goes to a folder/page closer to the root folder, the display again shows the user's proper username and the display is according to their proper assigned role. When I imported, I was as the "admin" user, and admin took ownership. I changed ownership to one of the users, and the code (and display). Changing owership from admin to another user didn't help, however. Any idea what the problem is. I looked on the changelogs on upgrading, but didn't find anything that explains this problem. Compilation issues

Hello, I am trying to set up a Python/Zope in my home because I have a limited access to the server, but I have an issue when i try to run Zope with unicode compilation with the Persitency module. I remember I had this problem once with PyLucene, and recompiling Python with the right option resolved it. But in the present case, it doesn't solve it... Any ideas ? basic python class & zope question

hi im new here , first post ... and new to zope. i've read the manual ... and zope framework looks very promising ... i started writing a couple of templates ... and run into some basic problems like: Problem 1. is it posible to have a python class ... defined in a script .... like class learn: def print_something(self): print 'it works' and call it from zpt ... like <span tal:replace="learn/print_something">replace</span>? or how can i call a method from this object ? ... i tryied with python: learn.print_something() and many different ways and i still don't get it. i'm starting to suspect that i can use classes only as zope products ... and call from zpt ... only scripts without classes. also do i have to set the properties/attributes of the script which contains the class ... with the methods? because by calling learn/print_somthing i get an AttributeError ... url might be invalid etc... Problem 2. how can i call/return from an python script a html file which resides in some folder above the script. i wanna call abc/index.html ... from abc/def/script.py i tryied with the container['index.html'[ but it doesn't return anything. thank you for the patience and sorry for the very basic questions ... but i feel that if i understand this things ... i can really get started with zope.

How to execute code at startup?

I have a very simple script that copies my production Zope instance to a fresh test instance. I have some Python code that I need to execute when the test instance starts for the first time (it only needs to execute once, but it won't hurt Zope if it executes every time the test instance starts. I usually execute this code interactively, from the Zope debugger: app.restrictedTraverse("/irtnog/portal_cache_settings").setCacheConfig ('zope') Is there any way to execute this code (or something similar) automatically? I guess the alternative is that I could script the process of entering the Zope debugger and running the above using Expect or something. You should use products instead of ZClasses.

where does ZOPE store users created objects

Hello, Please i want to know the physical path on my Zope installation where Zope stored the objects (such as dtml methods and documents) created by the users. When i searched for the .dtml extension on my computer, I could not see anyone created by me or other users from the list of objects returned. My plan is to have two zope installaions running, i want the first zope installation to hold current information (bcos the data.fs is becoming too big, it is slowing down the site whereas majority of my users are interested in the current info while few will want to access the old info) and later run a python code that will cut and paste the old information into the second zope installation as soon as I have new ones. thanks

Creating a ZCatalog to catalog the newly created objects using ZClasses

Hello, I was reading and following the zope book to Creating a ZCatalog to catalog the newly created objects using ZClasses while this message was displayed. "ZClasses are a deprecated feature and should no longer be used for new projects. Instead use either through-the-web scripting with Zope Page Templates, PythonScripts etc. or write a Zope product." Please can somebody point me to "How to" for any of these new recommended ways. Thanks.

Hello, After successfully created News Item ZClass from the example from the zope book. When I selected News Item from the Add list, this is the error msg displayed Error Type: RuntimeError Error Value: maximum recursion depth exceeded. Pls help.
