Hi, I have a zCatalog installed and I'm trying to automatically catalog an object and it's properties using: <dtml-with "manage_clone(base_business,newid,REQUEST)"> <dtml-call "manage_changeProperties( title=REQUEST['business_name'], business_name=REQUEST['business_name'], business_company=REQUEST['business_company'], business_street=REQUEST['business_street'], business_town=REQUEST['business_town'], business_county=REQUEST['business_county'], business_state=REQUEST['business_state'], business_zipcode=REQUEST['business_zipcode'], business_phone=REQUEST['business_phone'], business_website=REQUEST['business_website'], business_email=REQUEST['business_email'], )"> </dtml-with> <dtml-call "zCatalog.catalog_object(business_name,newid)"> The zCatalog has indexes and metadata: business_name business_company business_street business_town business_county business_state business_zipcode business_phone business_website business_email The object does get cataloged with the "newid" but none of the indexes or metadata get updated. Becoming "big" and "slow" are terms that totally sense-free without coming up with numbers and fact. There are real-world Zope installation with millions of objects that are pretty fast. Hi, I have change my zope version, zope 2.7 to zope 2.9. In zope 2.7 I have some python script that run very well. But in zope 2.9 theses scripts don't run. This script use the parameter in url send with a checkbox form. transfer zope security-properties

I'm on the run for transfering my poorly designed zclasses into real diskbased ones. I've gotten pretty far in only a couple of weeks thanks to this mailinglist and the irc channel on freenet. Thanks everyone! Today I have this question: How can I copy the associated securityinformation about a zclass instance into my new diskbased instance? Roles and permissions. I am using localRoles heavily with my zclasses, and would like this information to be retained also. Any pointers or hints of any kind are very welcome.... Thanks! I know the code posted there is not the same, but it could be a related problem. My best guest is that the problem is related to the Windows Firewall. In mentioned thread, somebody suggested to deactivate it and see if it works. You could also add an exception for the port that zope uses. There are some other suggestions from which I'm not sure, for I usally run zope under linux. 2) Try to run it in an account without admin privileges. I have tested zope with admin privileges under windows without any problem. 3) Disable raw sockets (This is written there, but I have no idea if this can help): Net stop SharedAccess Then start zope and restart the SharedAccess service Regards Josef _________________________________________________________________ Like puzzles? [Ann] DMHistorical -- access historical state in a ZODB

--text follows this line-- "DMHistorical" is a set of tools to access the historical state of a ZODB. Such tools may be helpful to analyse why unwanted or unexpected changes happened and/or to selectively go back to a previous state. This implementation resolves not only the main object but also all (direct or indirect) persistent references from this object at the given time. Zope's 'History' facility on the other hand can show the state of an object at a given time but would resolve persistent references with respect to the current time. This implementation will not work for ZODB 3.2 or earlier. It has been tested with ZODB 3.4. It may (or may not) work for ZODB 3.6 or above. a batch of inSaNitY!

Hi I am about to go stark, raving, frothing mad with the DTML-IN batching. Is there a known (or unknown) bug with this? I have searched and read everything I can find about this and no luck. The problem is with carrying the query terms over from one batch page to the next. Right now I am using the script found here: http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zope-collector-monitor/2003-May/002001.ht ml Except I changed, <dtml-let batch="_.range(100, 180)" batch_size="10" batch_start="REQUEST.get('batch_start',1)"> To <dtml-let batch="myZSQLMethod1" batch_size="10" batch_start="REQUEST.get('batch_start',1)"> The mySQLMethod1 takes two params which the search form supplies to REQUEST. This works great. The pagination works beautifully. However, when I use the very same result script with myZSQLMethod2 (same DB table), which takes 5 params (all optional) the pagination breaks and no-longer passes the query terms. I have checked and rechecked both scripts and both forms. The ZSQLMethods both test good. I am out of ideas. For the life of me I cannot figure out why I'm losing my query terms in one and not the other when the two are almost identical. Care to enlighten me with your collective wisdom? We have for several years run a site without any problems until now. It has over 70.000 registered users, but only about 1.000 logins each day. It is low load on this site. After upgrading the OS (kernel and packages) this spring (around April 2007) we are experiencing problems with our Zope-servers "hanging". It accepts connections, but does not give any response. Nothing is shown in the event.log or access.log (since request never finish). In the trace.log (after turning this on) we can see entries for the last requests that completes and three requests that begins, but never finish (see below). Following requests are not logged in the trace.log file. We experience the same behavior on our production and development system. The production system "hangs" about once every 10-20 days. The development system hangs more often. We are not sure if the "hangs" are related to high load on the systems. I have tried to provoke a "hang" situation by running multiple wgets in tight loops in parallel, but have not managed to produce a hang.
