I like APE and want to stay using it; copying back and forth between APE and FileStorage lets me have the best of both worlds. Gabriel Genellina Softlab SRL

tal+zclass problem
by Henny van der Linde 24 Nov '03

24 Nov '03

Hi, Till now I did everything with dtml, external python scripts, python scripts and zclasses. Gradualy I want to switch over to pagetemplates and external python products. The first thing I want to do is converting the dtml to pagetemplates in the actual sites. These sites are based on a lot of Zclasses. For instance: <dtml-with batest> <dtml-var index_html> </dtml-with> Where batest is an instance of a basic element of our content management system. After reading zpt docs (Zopebook and docs on devshed), searching in the mailing list archives I came to the following equivalent: <tr><td tal:define="batest here/batest" tal:content="batest/index_html"></td></tr> This only works in the way that it can find the index_html method (dtml) in the Zclass batest is an instance of. It won't render (it won't find) the other dtml-methods or any other object in the Zclass wich the index_html calls. So how do I do a 'dtml-with' in tal? Somebody asked the same question a couple of months ago but I couldn't find an answer in the mailing list archives. Regards, Henny van der Linde

newbie unicode question
by Joerg Fricke 23 Nov '03

23 Nov '03

Dear zope-gurus, I presume this is FAQ, but I cannot figure out how to display unicode messages in Zope. I would like our Zope site to be available in English, German, and Spanish, and I've been using localizer 0.8 to this end. Most everything seems to work fine, but instead of unicode characters the "?" character is displayed. My ZPT headers do include:" content="text/html;charset=utf-8"", but that doesn't seem to solve the problem. Any help would be much appreciated. RE: [Zope] Zope and IIS and Apache (oh my!)
by Jason LeMonier 23 Nov '03

Hi Larry, I have IIS & Plone integrated. When I did it, the plone login_form login did not work for me either. BUT, when I turned off ~"Anonymous Login" in IIS and IIS produces the 401-Auth or Windows Challenge pop-up login, the userid & password sent through IIS would login the plone user. Once IIS is involved, Plone looks for the (in ASP) Request.ServerVariables('AUTH_USER') (I wasn't able to find how/where it gets this info into Plone -- wish I did). Once users were logged in ... they could Never be logged out w/o closing the browser. i know that didn't answer all your questions, but it's some info that is closely related. good luck! -----Original Message----- From: Larry J. Here's the setup: - Zope running on linux machine at, e.g., zope.intranet:8080 - Apache running on linux machine, and proxying requests to Zope via usual VHM/rewrite deal at zope.intranet:80 works great... now--- we additionally need to have an IIS (W2k) machine running at iis.intranet:80 that proxies requests to zope.intranet:8080 via the oft-mentioned 404 ASP script (latest version). In the default.asp file on the iis.intranet machine, I have the zopeAddress - http://zope.intranet:8080 at first glance, this all works correctly... I can browse to http://iis.intranet and see the Zope content as expected.... however, logins mysteriously fail. I suspect there's some issue with cookies that's catching me up here, but I can't get a handle on it. Does anyone else have experience fronting a Zope instance on Linux with an IIS instance running on a distinct W2k box? Most of the conversation here seems to involve running Zope and IIS on the same machine--- not sure why that should make a difference... any clues would be much appreciated... thanks- Larry _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )

stuck on accessing ZSQL methods across folder hierary
by Brad Allen 23 Nov '03

23 Nov '03

I'm stuck trying to do something fairly basic with DTML: access an SQL method called previewsStagingList that is somewhere else in the folder hierarchy. I've tried numerous variant possibilities, such as <dtml-in kc/bizlogic/product/diamond/previewsStagingList> or <dtml-in kc.bizlogic.product.diamond.previewsStagingList> or <dtml-in "../bizlogic/product/diamond/previewsStagingList"> or <dtml-in expr = "kc.bizlogic.product.diamond.previewsStagingList"> (I think expr is just for Python scripts, according to the documentation I've seen, but I thought this worth a try.) You get the idea. I've searched around for documentation on how to do this, and the closest thing I came up with was to use dtml-with, but had no luck with that either since dtml-with doesn't seem to accept any kind of folder paths. I tried nesting several dtml-with documents, which parsed ok but still didn't allow me to access the previewsStagingList ZSQL method. I'm stuck. Please help! Thanks!

DMTL-IF: Listing Documents that contain queryword
by Sean Lee 23 Nov '03

23 Nov '03

I manually set Document Properties for files that I want to list in groups. Each Document has a Property "category"; to get Category One docs, I use <dtml-in "my_documents.objectValues()"> <dtml-if "category=='Category One'"> <dtml-comment>List Documents</dtml-comment> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> Since Documents already have the word I need in dtml-var Title (Category One: Whatever Title), I'd like to use a Web form to pass the query string and get rid of having to manually set Properties for each Document. I'd like to list any Document that contains string "query", like: "select Documents where <dtml-var title> like queryword" Can someone help me with this? If possible, I'd like to accomplish this in Zope without external scripts programming languages. Env: Zope 2.5.x, Python 2.2.x Thanks Sean

ZCTextIndex - prefix wildcards not supported?
by Small Business Services 22 Nov '03

22 Nov '03

Why are wildcards '?' and '*' not supported at the beginning of search terms in ZCTextIndex? It would be very useful to search for terms using '*someterm'. In the cvs for ZCTextIndex, Lexicon.py (http://cvs.zope.org/Products/ZCTextIndex/Lexicon.py?annotate=1.17.10.2) the code raises an exception for wildcards at the beginning of search terms (see line 113) and a related comment says" 111 # The pattern starts with a globbing character. 112 # This is too efficient, so we raise an exception. Why is this 'too efficient"? Jonathan

RE: [Zope] (CMF == ZPT) && (Elvis lives && DTML is dead)
by Wilson, Derek 22 Nov '03

22 Nov '03

I think by the wording "depreciated" it means that no further development would happen with DTML and it seems as though eventually DTML support would be dropped in favor of having a more efficient TAL syntax. So, is that the case? Is DTML no longer supported? Any plans to drop it from Zope? Thanks, Derek Wilson -----Original Message----- From: Paul Winkler [mailto:pw_lists@slinkp.com] Sent: Thursday, November 20, 2003 7:32 AM To: Zope Users Subject: Re: [Zope] (CMF == ZPT) && (Elvis lives && DTML is dead) On Wed, Nov 19, 2003 at 11:04:14PM -0800, Roger Chrisman wrote: > Hi, > > The Zope 'Elvis' Tutorial(1) uses DTML(2). DTML is now deprecated. That's putting it a bit strongly. Many of us prefer ZPT to DTML for most purposes, but some have the opposite preference. DTML is not deprecated in any official way. however, good point - the tutorial could use an overhaul. Maybe for zope 2.8 or 2.7.1 (it's probably too late to tackle for zope 2.7.0). -- Paul Winkler http://www.slinkp.com Look! Up in the sky! It's EXPECTANT CHEESY GIRL! RE: [Zope] Quick question.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you have to setup the "stupid_log" (no offense) Thanks, Derek Wilson -----Original Message----- From: Goldthwaite, Joe [mailto:joe@goldthwaites.com] Sent: Friday, November 21, 2003 11:37 AM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] Quick question. I'm a newbie learning Python and Zope. I'm trying to create a Zope product for my application since programming is more familiar to me than HTML. I ran into a problem that caused me to join this list. In the process of figuring out how to best ask the question, I found the answer. I had created a package using the example in "The Book of Zope". When I first restarted the server, I got an error message in the list of products saying that my package was broken. It had an error log showing the line (a typo) that was causing the problem. I fixed the line but restarting Zope kept giving me the same error message on the same line that I had fixed. I decided that something funny was going on so I deleted the package from the "Product Management at /Control_Panel/Products" screen in the hopes that it would be recreated or I would at least get a new error message. The product went away completely and nothing I could do would get it back. I tried moving it to a different directory, changing the metadata name, changing the class names, nothing worked. I could look in the directory and see that my __init__.pyc file was being created so I knew Zope was looking at it but it didn't seem to do anything with it. After working on it for most of the day, I finally found the problem. At some point, I had accidentally deleted the "s" from the end of the constructors' In other words, instead of this; def initialize(context): """Register the EIS class""" context.registerClass( EIS.EIS, constructors = ( EIS.manage_addEISForm, EIS.manage_addEIS ), permission = 'Add EIS', icon='www/icon.gif' ) I had This; def initialize(context): """Register the EIS class""" context.registerClass( EIS.EIS, constructor = ( EIS.manage_addEISForm, EIS.manage_addEIS ), permission = 'Add EIS', icon='www/icon.gif' ) Notice the missing "s" in "constructor =". That was doing it. Now, here's my question, is there an error log anywhere that would have shown what was causing the problem without searching for a needle in a haystack? I was looking all over the place for some kind of message as to why the package wasn't showing up but couldn't find anything. I'm assuming I just don't know where to look. _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )
