RE: Quick question on timedate format
by Ben Shaffer 12 Nov '03

Sorry to trouble you. I have spent hours looking on the web for the information. Basically I want to get the 'st,nd,th etc' part of the day of the month in my dates. I have: <dtml-var EndingDate fmt="day"> Which obviously comes out as 11 for today. How do I make it come out as 11th? Much appreciated, Ben

SAX parser not found?
by David Chandek-Stark 12 Nov '03

As was suggested on this thread, you can install PyXML (http://pyxml.sourceforge.net/) I just created a soft link from ZOPE_HOME/lib/python/xml -> PyXML/xml. Then you import from xml.sax in your external method. Cheers, David -- David Chandek-Stark dc(a)duke.edu

Re: [Zope] cron

Using wget to directly call the management interface to do packing is, in some ways, much nicer since it does not depend on mysterious (and presumably undocumented and potentially volatile) magical utilities. On the other hand, i hate having to leave my management password out in the open in plaintext form in case some part of my system is compromised. I presume regular re-packing is a standard thing for EVERY zope installation. If I forget to do it, it can make my whole site unstable. This is a real issue on a site where somebody might take an unexpected trip, or there is a staffing change, or even just an illness. It seems like a option for automatic time-or-size based re-packing would be an appropriate and easy feature to add to zope itself, rather than these hacky solutions. Greg

email in zope: Message missing SMTP Header 'From'
by Kate Legere 12 Nov '03

I am setting up a form that recieves data from a user and then emails that info to me. My form is such: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <html> <head> <title>Ask a Librarian</title> <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"> function validate() { mNv=askForm.name.value; if (mNv=='') { alert('Your name is a required field.'); event.returnValue=false; } mEm=askForm.mail.value; if (mEm=='') { alert('Your email address is a required field.'); event.returnValue=false; } mPh=askForm.phone.value; if (mPh=='') { alert('Your Phone Number is a required field.'); event.returnValue=false; } } </SCRIPT> </head> <body> <table width="70%" bgcolor="#C0C0C0" align="center"> <form name="askForm" method="post" action ="mailer" > <tr height="20"> <td width="100%" bgcolor="#808080" colspan="2"> <p align="left"><b><font size="5" color="#800000"> </font><font color="#800000" size="6">Ask a Librarian</font></b></p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td width="50%" > Name:<input type="text" name="name" size="20" tabindex="1" maxlength="20">  </td> <td width="50%" bgcolor="#C0C0C0">  <p>  </td> </tr> <tr> <td width="50%" >Email:<br> <input type="text" name="mail" size="30" tabindex="2" maxlength="40"><br> </td> <td width="50%" bgcolor="#C0C0C0">Phone:<br>   <input type="text" name="phone" size="20" tabindex="3" maxlength="10"> </td> </tr> <tr> <td width="100%" colspan="2"><hr> <p align="left">Describe in as much detail as possible what you are looking for:<br> <textarea cols=60 rows=3 name="what" tabindex="4"></textarea><br> </p> <hr> </td> </tr> . . . <tr> <td width="100%" bgcolor="#C0C0C0" colspan="2"> <hr><p align="center"> <input type="reset"><input type="submit" value="Submit question" onClick="validate()"> </p> </td> </tr> </form> </table> </body> </html> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> ------- "mailer" is: <dtml-sendmail smtphost="mail.kfpl.ca"> To: klegere(a)kfpl.ca From: <dtml-var name> Subject: Ask a Librarian . . . </dtml-sendmail> <h1> Thank you <dtml-var name>! </h1> <p> Your request has been successfully sent </p> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> however when I fill in the form and submit, I get: Error Type: MailHost Error Error Value: Message missing SMTP Header 'From' I *think* I have the From: header filled in here - I've even hard coded it but I still get the error. What have I missed? Kate

python script trouble?
by Kate Legere 12 Nov '03

12 Nov '03

I am calling a python script 'addToFile' from a dtml method: <dtml-call expr="addToFile()"> the script is meant to open a pre-existing file and write to it: f=open('file1', 'wt',1) f.write('hello') f.close At the moment I am just writing a test to see if it works and, it doesn't. I get, when I view the calling dtml method, Error Type: NameError Error Value: global name 'open' is not defined I have looked through the Python bible and am at a loss to think where I have erred. Structured text <img> tag not working in Zope 2.61
by Max M 12 Nov '03

12 Nov '03

I have a site with lots of structured text. There is a lot of <img src='/some/image'> tags in the texts. But after upgrading from Zope 2.51 to Zope 2.61, I get broken images all over the place. <img src='images/kreativ.jpg' align='left'> This tag is turned into: <img src="%3Ccode">images/kreativ.jpg align='left'> While: <img src="images/kreativ.jpg" align="left"> is rendered correctly. It used to work. Does anybody know why it doesn't? What is the easiest way to get around this. Can it be the new inline image tag that plays strangely? regards Max M

Exporting from 1.10.3 to 2.6 (or latest)
by Robert Restad 12 Nov '03

12 Nov '03

PS! Sorry for replying to the "cron" topic, my bad... Here is the same question again slightly modified, with proper topic. A client have a Zope installation (ver. 1.10.3). Now, this installation seems to be, eh, a far bit obsolete. I have no idea why, but even the simplest things that should have worked (while coding DTML) doesnt. Thus, I have installed Zope 2.6 (latest version right) on my Win32 workstation here... I would really have liked to be able to get the client application made in 1.10.3 to work on 2.6. I did a futile attempt on exporting and importing, but eh - even the Zope newbie me figured that only magic could make that happen... Is there anyone with a good clue of how to export from 1.10.3 (i.e. "export.bbe") to this new version? (Or does any of you more experienced users have a good idea of what I would have to do to get this application working on 2.6? ... ) Best regards Robert.

Kind regards Andreas.

RE: [Zope] Linux distributions for Zope Servers
by Samir Mishra 12 Nov '03

[Not at a Gentoo Machine, so trying to remember details] Find what's been installed using genlog (I think). Save compiled binaries using emerge -d <PKG> find out what files a package has installed qpkg <SOMETHING I CANT REMEMBER> re-compile all dependencies also, and upgrade if needed emerge -U --deep <PKG> etc. Bunch of other things, too much to cover here. I'm relatively new with Gentoo, but it seems almost every day I learn something new. Like I said earilier (at least I think I did), I like the fact that there's minimal bloat and the system runs fast. Compiles are a pain, but my experience is that it's usually the GUI and QT (as in KDE) sources that take the most time to compile. The Gentoo forums are a great help. Many times the posts sound like (and actually are from) teenagers with new toys. But many times that's how one learns, by playing around. As Paul/Dylan said, this is not the right place for info on Gentoo, look at the installation guide. It'll give you a good idea of the level of expertise required. If you get what they're talking about (I didn't initially) you're good to go. -----Original Message----- From: Paul Winkler [mailto:pw_lists@slinkp.com] Sent: Tuesday, November 11, 2003 19:22 To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: Re: [Zope] Linux distributions for Zope Servers On Tue, Nov 11, 2003 at 12:14:34AM -0800, Dennis Allison wrote: > > Smir -- > Can you tell us a bit more about the Gentoo update system.
