Might be just a coincidence, but you might want to ask this guy: http://www.maths.uq.edu.au/~gjm He seems to have something zope-ish that uses this same software: http://www.maths.uq.edu.au/~gjm/data/emmixgene.bat > I have looked into the 'Emmixgene', but can't get the information I wanted. > Maybe I don't know what exactly I am looking for. Hope you can give me some > advice. Beyond finding someone who might know what you have there, I'd give some serious though to extracting the contents of the site with wget and starting over with a clean install of Zope. Sorry that's not much help, hopefully someone else is better informed. Dylan

newbie: ZTP, SQL, plone
by andrew cooke 11 Nov '03

hi, maybe i'm being trying too much too soon, but i'd appreciate help with the following (i'm new to zope but have used python for years and have some experience with jsp and similar web tech). i am using plone with postgresql. the DA is working. my problems are, i think related to ZTP and how to structure applications. i have the folder "timesheets" defined inside my root folder. as two subfolders i have "sql" and "ztp" in /timesheets/sql are two SQL methods: add_person and list_people. the SQL method /timesheets/sql/list_people returns a list of people from a table. this works (the "test" button produces results; the column name is "person"). but how do i get that data displayed in the ZTP page? i have a page in the /timesheets/ztp folder (also called "list_people") with the following text, but it won't compile: <ul tal:repeat="item /timesheets/sql/list_people"> <li tal:content="item/person">name</li> </ul> the error message is: Compilation failed TAL.TALDefs.TALError: Invalid variable name "" in expression '/timesheets/sql/list_people' my problem seems to be accessing the sql method that is "../sql/list_people" relative to the location of the ztp page. how i do this? or is the problem elsewhere? apologies if i've done soemthing very stupid! cheers, andrew -- http://www.acooke.org/andrew

For lightning fast text searches, especially for advanced contextual features, you'll likely be best served with a database designed for that purpose. Thunderstone.com has one you can test for free, and quite reasonable license terms for the whole deal. Everything about it is tuned for fast, contextual text searches, on a wide variety of document types. They've got lots of big customers too, so support for performance tweaking is definitely there. <truth>Not even a customer, yet. Just seems an up-and-up product line that looks really good.</truth> =Paul

How to call something after zope startup in 2.7 ?
by Viktor Voroshylo 11 Nov '03

11 Nov '03

I need to do call a script after zope has been started in 2.7. I was using register_loop_callback in 2.6 but it is no longer working. I can not just call it in __init__.py of my product as it is too early.

Accessing user id in scripts
by Will Stephenson 10 Nov '03

10 Nov '03

Hi all I'm planning a site where users and site structure are held in Zope, but the data items belonging to users are held in an RDBMS, due to their number and relative light weight. I've designed the database so that owned objects have a userid field, and am about to add a mySqlUserFolder for site users, but I'm stuck trying to see how to get a user id from the session so that I can use it my scripts that then call Z SQL methods to do database accesses (insert into things (owner, thing ) values( 'joe123', 'newthing'). I feel like I've run up against a wall in the Zope Book, has anyone done something similar, or can you recommend some further reading? Thanks in advance Will -- Will Stephenson

uploading folder with FTP fails
by Florian Schulze 10 Nov '03

10 Nov '03

Hi! When I try to upload a whole folder, then the folder isn't created. Instead there is an empty file with the same name. Creating a folder with mkdir works fine. I'm using wsFTP on Windows and Zope 2.6.1 on a Linux Server. Is there a fix for this? Regards, Florian
