problems with plone
by Robert Chares 04 Nov '03

04 Nov '03

Hello, I am trying to get started with Zope and Plone. Zope basically works fine, but after trying to install Plone, I get a startup exception. The OS I am working with is SuSE 8.2, the Python version I compiled Zope with is 2.1.3 and the Plone version I tried is 1.0.5. When I follow the install instructions of Plone I get the startup exception of Zope telling me that it can't import the TRIGGER_USER_ACTION (detailed error messages at the end of the mail..) After removing the link to the CMFPlone directory, everything works again fine... Can you tell me what I did wrong or give me a hint what I should try to change, because I haven't found any help in forums or faq's. That's why I have to bother you ;-) thanks and bye Robert robert@nihilbaxter:~/zope/Zope-2.6.2-src> ./start ------ 2003-11-02T21:11:23 INFO(0) zdaemon Started subprocess: pid 19410 ------ 2003-11-02T21:11:25 ERROR(200) Zope Could not import Products.CMFPlone Traceback (innermost last): File /home/robert/zope/Zope-2.6.2-src/lib/python/OFS/Application.py, line 522, in import_product File /home/robert/zope/Zope-2.6.2-src/Products/CMFPlone/__init__.py, line 6, in ? [ANN] EpozDocument 0.2.0
by Gilles Lenfant 03 Nov '03

03 Nov '03

Hi zopistats The second public release of EpozDocument is available. What's the EpozDocument ? EpozDocument is just a pure content object you can edit the content with the Maik Jablonski's Epoz widget. What else ? * An EpozDocument is CatalogPathAware. Just create a ZCatalog with the appropriate indexes (see the included doc) * Epoz is not enough, EpozDocument objects are External Editor aware. Use your favorite HTML editor. * EpozDocuments are published on their own URL through an implicit or explicit template (ZPT/DTML/Script...). * Optionnaly edit in the Epoz widget with your favorite CSS * An secured Epoz plugin toolbox to browse your objects and insert absolute/relative links. * A really fully documented Product :-) What is EpozDocument good for ? Plone/CMF/CPS (...) is some overkill for your small/medium sized site ? People that feed content are HTML dummy ? You think about updating old DTML/ZPT sites with no CM high level frameworks, and are tired of editing the content in File/DTML/ZPT objects ? You may consider using EpozDocument in those cases, and perhaps others. Requirements : Developed and tested with Zope 2.6.2. Requires of course Epoz and an Epoz compatible browser. Warning : The "user.has_permission(...)" bug of Zope 2.6.1 may let the user browse with the plugin toolbox in places he should not be allowed to see. This is NOT an EpozDocument bug. If someone can provide me a workaround for this... This version of EpozDocument should be considered as alpha. The potential bugs won't screw your content anyway, and you may consider using it on production sites like I do. EpozDocument is compliant with Python 2.2 EpozDocument is provided under the terms of the ZPL. Get it at http://zope.org/Members/gillou/index_html/EpozDocument Any feedback welcome. -- Gilles Lenfant

Newbie: passing data from scripts to ZPT
by Franco M. Luque 03 Nov '03

03 Nov '03

Hello. I want a Python Script that redirects to a ZPT, so that the ZPT can see information generated by the Script. I don't want this information to persist along all the session. Is there any way to do this? I tried saving the data in the REQUEST object, but it seems that the redirection generates a new REQUEST object for the ZPT and forgets the other one. This is the Python Script: request = context.REQUEST request.set('myname', "franco") context.REQUEST.RESPONSE.redirect("list_html") ...and this is the ZPT list_html: <html> <body> <p tal:content="python:request.REQUEST.keys()"> </p> </body> </html> TIA, and sorry for my english. Sounds like your issue is with the installation of CMF, not Zwiki. Make sure you have the proper version installed. Have you established why zdaemon received a SIGXFSZ? Did your FileStorage exceed 2G perhaps? Are your python and libc built with LFS support? Does "it" refer to your FileStorage? Don't make us guess, it wastes time. 4) Zope internal db, being what exactly? [ANN] ZShell v1.60 is out
by Jerome Alet 02 Nov '03

02 Nov '03

Hi there, I'm pleased to announce the immediate availability of ZShell v1.60. ZShell is a Zope External Method which allows Zope admins to manage the Zope Objects DataBase with commands similar to *nix shell ones, directly from within your web browser. With more than 60 commands, ZShell is the Swiss Army's Knife of the Zope administrator, and makes easy things which are impossible to do with the native Zope Management Interface. ZShell is distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License from : http://www.librelogiciel.com/software/ You can even try it online (old version though, and in readonly mode) from the above website. This bug fix release is now compatible with Python v2.2 and above. The use of the insecure rexec module was completely removed and replaced with new code. Thanks to Lucas De Vitis and Jim Penny for the bug report. Feel free to send comments or flames to : Jerome Alet -- "A non-free program is a predatory social system that keeps people in a state of domination and division, and uses the spoils to dominate more." - RMS
