problem where using ZODBCDA
by fbarsukow＠fede.generali.fr 05 Nov '03

hi, i use ZODBCDA for connecting to a sybase 1.12 database. i use it in this way : ## Script (Python) "RH_AppelSQL_script" ##bind container=container ##bind context=context ##bind namespace= ##bind script=script ##bind subpath=traverse_subpath ##parameters=laChaineSQL ##title= ## REQUEST = context.REQUEST # Fonction appelant la base de données : lstResult = context.base_RH.manage_test(laChaineSQL) return lstResult and i call this script when i want to execute a SQL request or a stored procedure. Nevertheless, sometimes i have a error due to a connection failure. The more suprising is if i use the manage console for testing the connection , that's good . zope version : 2.1.2 python version : 2.1 the error generating by my application is : (Object: shortcuts_box) File f:\Zope\IntranetLFC\Zope\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_Let.py, line 142, in render (Object: isGestionRH="RH_Securite_Is_Gestion_RH_script()" mois="ZopeTime().month()") File f:\Zope\IntranetLFC\Zope\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_Util.py, line 205, in eval (Object: RH_Securite_Is_Gestion_RH_script()) (Info: RH_Securite_Is_Gestion_RH_script) File <string>, line 2, in f File f:\Zope\IntranetLFC\Zope\lib\python\Shared\DC\Scripts\Bindings.py, line 322, in __call__ (Object: RH_Securite_Is_Gestion_RH_script) File f:\Zope\IntranetLFC\Zope\lib\python\Shared\DC\Scripts\Bindings.py, line 342, in _bindAndExec (Object: RH_Securite_Is_Gestion_RH_script) File f:\Zope\IntranetLFC\Zope\lib\python\Products\CMFCore\FSPythonScript.py, line 153, in _exec (Object: RH_Securite_Is_Gestion_RH_script) (Info: ({'script': <FSPythonScript instance at 04AFF5E0>, 'context': <PortalFolder instance at 04897EC0>, 'container': <CMFSite instance at 05963220>, 'traverse_subpath': []}, (), {}, None)) File Script (Python), line 7, in RH_Securite_Is_Gestion_RH_script File f:\Zope\IntranetLFC\Zope\lib\python\Shared\DC\Scripts\Bindings.py, line 322, in __call__ (Object: RH_AppelSQL_script) File f:\Zope\IntranetLFC\Zope\lib\python\Shared\DC\Scripts\Bindings.py, line 342, in _bindAndExec (Object: RH_AppelSQL_script) File f:\Zope\IntranetLFC\Zope\lib\python\Products\CMFCore\FSPythonScript.py, line 153, in _exec (Object: RH_AppelSQL_script) (Info: ({'script': <FSPythonScript instance at 04965B70>, 'context': <PortalFolder instance at 04897EC0>, 'container': <CMFSite instance at 05963220>, 'traverse_subpath': []}, ("select NOMBRE=count(LOGIN) from SECURITE where LOGIN='fbarsukow' and ID_SERVICE=-2",), {}, None)) File Script (Python), line 2, in RH_AppelSQL_script File f:\Zope\IntranetLFC\Zope\lib\python\Shared\DC\ZRDB\Connection.py, line 176, in manage_test (Object: base_RH) File c:\projets\projet~2\Divers\install_NT\Zope\lib\python\Products\ZODBCDA\db.py, line 176, in query sql.error: ('S1000', 50, '[INTERSOLV][ODBC SQL Server driver][SQL Server]ct_cmd_alloc(): user api layer: external error: The connection has been marked dead.') or " connection link error" so do you have any solution for a good catching of error and a mean for reconnect the database is the problem occurs? regards, fabien Barsukow

Have you established why zdaemon received a SIGXFSZ? Did your FileStorage exceed 2G perhaps? Are your python and libc built with LFS support? Does "it" refer to your FileStorage? Don't make us guess, it wastes time. 4) Zope internal db, being what exactly? The default ZODB FileStorage, a Gadfly instance? Sorry for my vaguness I wasn't aware the the error given needed further disecting I will check for 1) To this I will use the list 2) I am using this version 2.6.1 for now . 3) I will investigate FileStorage - I know that the var/data.fs files were 450mb 4) I assumed ZODB was the internal db .I note that the buffer is set to 800kb and can be exceeded. I have read the Plone Doc's and it didn't flag and specify - filestorage or LFS So look again. I'll second that. -----Original Message----- From: Dylan Reinhardt [mailto:zope@dylanreinhardt.com] Sent: Tuesday, November 04, 2003 11:33 To: Dennis Allison Cc: Zope Users Subject: Re: [Zope] Linux distributions for Zope Servers On Mon, 2003-11-03 at 22:04, Dennis Allison wrote: > I'm not excited about converting to the RH Enterprise distribution and so > am beginning to shop around for a different, a possibly better, > distribution--something stable, well integrated, complete, and with a > rational release cycle, stable SMP support, and support for AMD Athlon > and AMD-64 processors. It's a bit different from Red Hat... the package manager actually works, for starters. :-) More importantly, the software release cycles are usually both timely and sane. Community support is generally knowledgeable and friendly. Debian makes a great choice too, but I find that Gentoo's community is just a bit more focused and helpful. $.02, Dylan _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )

by Rakotomandimby M. A. 05 Nov '03

Hi all , I'm running Zope 2.6.2 (binary) on a Linux box. I FTP-uploaded to the server (into the Site root) a file named "foo". The file has been added as a File Object ( no problem for that ) . This file content a single line ended by a '\n' , wich is an IP address( no problem for that either ) I wrote a very simple python Script that should return the line inside that file _without_ the final '\n' : import string fichier = open('ancienne_ip','r') ip = fichier.readline() ip = string.strip(ip) return ip the problem is that i got error for this : Error Type: NameError Error Value: global name 'open' is not defined What did i do wrong ? Thnak you .

Hi, I would like to restrict user access to certain part of my wesite. If people want to view some webpages, they have to use their name and password first. I will give out the password in person. What's the best way of approaching it using Zope? Thanks for your time. Justin

plone states
by Wilson, Derek 04 Nov '03

04 Nov '03

I am having issues with plone states. Let's say for instance that I have an intranet website. I have certain content that I want only authenticated persons to view. I also want certain things to be viewed by anonymous. I have created another state, called "apublished" and selected "view" for authenticated users, and unchecked it for "acquire" and "anonymous". Now, supposedly, if something is in that state, only authenticated persons can view that content. However, it is still accessible to anonymous. Any ideas? Thanks, Derek S. [NEWBIE] Help getting started w/authentication
by Michael Russell 04 Nov '03

04 Nov '03

Hi, I'm using Zope 2.6.1 under Plone 2.5. I'm trying to set up certain folders so that certain users can only access those folders. Reading the Zope book, it seems as though I should be able to do this simply by creating a new User Folder in that folder, and adding users to it. I've done this, as well as adding a Cookie Crumbler. However, the users I add can't log in. The folder is a published folder, so I go straight to that folder, enter the username and password as I've set them up in the acl_users folder at that level, but it tells me a "Sign-in failure" page. Do I also have to have the user defined at the Root level?
