FTP upload of ExtImage
by Klimovich Alexander 30 Oct '03

30 Oct '03

Hi there! Can anyone explain me why the following doesn't work: I'm trying to upload ExtImage to new folder in Zope using FTP. I have found that to tell Zope to create ExtImage instead of Image I should write external method PUT_factory and put it into the folder where I'm going to store image. For uploading ExtImage I use storbinary method of FTP object (file is representing as StringIO object). BUT: My PUT_factory doesn't work! Who can explain why? What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Alexander Klimovich

Question about permissions
by Alexis Roda 30 Oct '03

30 Oct '03

Hi, I'm working on a python product. My question is about finding wich permission protects a given method, in order to generate or not some links in the product's management interface. Those links are class dependant, so I need to ask the class for which ones it does support (something like manage_options) and then check the ones the user has rights on. Currently I do this by looking at the class and some of the __bases__ classes __ac_permissions__ but I think zope may provide a more convenient way to do this. Does it? RE: [Zope] More than one web server on a site?

Most definitely, in fact, that's the prefered way of running Zope (Behind Apache). Zope.org is full of information on this, including for example: http://www.zope.org/Members/anser/apache_zserver/index_html http://zope.org/Members/nexedi/accelerate-zope.stx (There are many more) J.F. -----Original Message----- From: zope-bounces(a)zope.org [mailto:zope-bounces@zope.org]On Behalf Of Ted Holden Sent: Thursday, October 30, 2003 2:03 PM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] More than one web server on a site? Real, real dumb question here. Is it possible to have a single computer on the net run both zserver and some other server like Apache? There might be cases in which somebody has some legacy web site which is basically just html and forms, and wants to add some feature which works via Zope. If he could have both servers, he could just link to the Zope feature. _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )

runtime error when creating selection property from function
by Chris Leonello 30 Oct '03

30 Oct '03

HI, I don't know if this is the correct list, but here goes. I have written a custom python product and recieve the following error when I try to view the "Properties" page: Error Type: RuntimeError Error Value: function attributes not accessible in restricted mode The source of the error is a selection property I have defined in _properties like so: {'id':'data_source', 'type':'selection', 'mode': 'w', 'select_variable':'getDataSources'} Directly following my _properties definition in the class, I have the getDataSources method: def getDataSources (self): """ Get the sources (methods, queries, etc.) that we can pull data from. """ ds = [] for item in self.superValues(('DTML Method', 'External Method', 'Script (Python)', 'Z SQL Method')): ds.append(item.id) return ds More specifically, the error stems from the call to self.superValues(...) in the for loop. If I comment out the for loop and manually populate the ds list, it works fine. It also works fine if I change the 'type':'selection' to 'type':'multiple selection' in the _properties definition. I am running Zope 2.6.1 on Windows ME with Pyton 2.1.3. Why does Zope think I am runnng in restricted mode when I make this call? Why does this work for multiple selection but not selection types? Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks! ===== Chris Leonello cleonello(a)yahoo.com __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? > Odesílatel: lyx(a)email.netchina.com.cn > I am Zope that Chinese user . I want to create the Chinese name Folder, but Zope nonsupport Chinese. Please tell me whether to have Chinese plug-in or not. Use latin for folder name, but use chinese fr folrer title property. Then instead of <dtml-var id> use <dtml-var title_or_id> and you will see chinese title if defined, or latin chars if title is undefined. Regards, JL.

RE: [Zope] Odd ZCTextIndex behavior

Sorry I wasn't clear on that, just one wildcard doesn't work either... -jim -----Original Message----- From: Wilson, Derek [mailto:dwilson@abrazohealth.com] Sent: Wednesday, October 29, 2003 6:19 PM To: Jim Kutter; zope(a)zope.org Subject: RE: [Zope] Odd ZCTextIndex behavior sounds like it's not a problem then. Try searching for *451. If that works, then you only need 1 wildcard. Thanks, Derek Wilson -----Original Message----- From: Jim Kutter [mailto:jim@ebizq.net] Sent: Tuesday, October 28, 2003 9:28 AM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] Odd ZCTextIndex behavior Hi folks - I've noticed some odd behavior in the ZCTextIndex. I have an index of searchable terms that include, among other things, the author's employer's name. In instances where the company name is a string followed by a number (in this instance, "the451 group"), searching for the number ("451") even with wildcards ("*451*"), only finds references where the number is alone, and not part of any other string. Oddly, searching for "t*451" matches the name. I'm running the binary 2.6.2 (and 2.6.1) releases on linux. This occurrs in both. Any ideas why this would happen? Is this correctable? -jim

using VHM (was: [Zope] changing the base path)
by Roger Mallett 30 Oct '03

30 Oct '03

I am attempting to use the Virtual Host Monster (VHM) to remap base paths. The VHM's edit tab keeps return an error stating that the "path" folder doesn't exist. For example, I enter the following (real) values: Domain: www.mlstracker.com Path: /paula and the following error displays: "The path /paula was not found" Yet it exists. If I drop the slash and use "paula" rather than "/paula" VHM says it succeeds. However, when I execute the url: www.mlstracker.com I do not get the results that I expect (which is displayed by www.mlstracker.com/paula) What should I do to figure this out? DateTime and daylight saving time (one more time).
by Felipe Barousse Boue 30 Oct '03

30 Oct '03

Hi Zopistas: Last October 26th. here in Mexico we changed to the non daylight saving time period of the year. Some Zope applications that rely on DateTime started having trouble nevertheless they worked perfectly without a glitch during the DST months. The DTML methods use DateTime to build a date and later on, query a PostgreSQL table. This query involves building the date as: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('fecha_final',_.DateTime(_.str(mes_fin)+'/'+_.str(dia_fin)+'/'+_.str(year_fin)).latestTime())"> The above code worked fine when in DST, now (not in DST) it adds a timezone like: '2003/10/28 23:59:59 US/Central' which causes a bad date external representation error coming from the DB. Previously (while in DST) where was no time zone added in the function call depicted above. The actual trouble is with DateTime working in DST periods vs and working in a non DST period. Can anyone be so kind to explain this behavior and a hint on the fix.? I have seen on the lists references to "bugs" on DateTime as old as year 2000 but no recent references to DateTime issues like thie one. Per your info, CST and CDT (American Central Standard/Daylight Time) both work ok for our purposes as we are in that same time zone here in Mexico City I am running Zope, binary release 2.6.1, upgraded to 2.6.2 on RedHat Linux 7.3 Your help and comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Felipe Barousse
