DCOracle2 with Oracle 9i Rel2

Dear all, Iam using DCOracle2 for Oracle9i Rel2 database. I create a stored procedure in the database, which is like : CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE Testproc( p_username IN VARCHAR, RESULT OUT VARCHAR ) AS BEGIN SELECT username INTO RESULT FROM USERS WHERE username = p_username; END Testproc; Now, when i create a ZOracle Stored Procedure in Zope for this stored procedure it always gives an error "Testproc is not a valid stored procedure". Can someone pl. help on this. Is it because : DCOracle2 is mainly meant for OCI8 (oracle8) and hence doesnt work very well with oracle9, or is it someother problem. TAI Satish ITpreneurs.com

Is there changes in this usual Python builtin ? import types # somewhere in a method... if type(x) == types.UnicodeType: Raises... Error Type: UnboundLocalError Error Value: local variable 'type' referenced before assignment What did I miss ? Thanks by advance. --Gilles

Newbie Zope/Formulator/Namespace Difficulties:

Hello, First off, I'm new to zope and formulator, and am having trouble understanding how namespaces are passed around. I would like to use a formulator-form to pass it's parameters to a python script, which will then call a zsql method. I created a formulator-form which collects the following data: orig_lot_id (string) system (string) start_date (datetime) finish_date (datetime) The formulator setting "action" is set to my python script pyProcessForm (see below) When I submit the form, I get the following error: Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: sql_display_recently_tested_lots Any help is very much appreciated. Connecting to Zope with a Thick Client

We have created quite a few web-based solutions using Zope. We are now looking at using Zope for a project requiring an application server but with thick clients connecting to it. We will probably use Zope as the application server and connect to it with Python-based wxWindows clients (we MAY add a web interface later on, so Zope seems perfect). Since we would require "callback" abilities to the clients, XML-RPC would not be quite the perfect solution for client to Zope communications. The only way I can think of doing "callbacks" to a client with XML-RPC, is if the client polls the server for callbacks - not exactly a pure callback! We are thinking of using something like OSE to handle client to Zope connections and will have to plug OSE into Zope (or at least incorporate OSE abilities into the classes of our application). The first prize will be if we can plug OSE into Zope in much the same seamless way as XML-RPC is incorporated into Zope. Does this solution sound feasible or are there other better solutions? Any comments, suggestions would be appreciated! Etienne

Working with sqlvar type=float

I used the ZPublisher to convert a variable into a type float(see input field below). I passed the variable "balance" to a ZSQL method where balance was set as type=float. I keep getting an "invalid floating point type error" when i called the updateBal ZSQ method. I even tried to convert balance with _.float(balance) but still get the same error. The mysql db field for balance is set as type float. accessing REQUEST variable

What am i doing wrong here? I am trying to access a variable passed from a form. I named the input field current_delivery plus a Cust_ID(see below). The variable that i am tried to accessed is part a string and a variable. I've tried to contatenate the "string + variable" with the let tag and used that to access the REQUEST variable. <input type=text name="current_delivery<dtml-var Cust_ID>" value=""> <input type=hidden name="rec.Cust_ID:records"> ---------------------------------------------------------------------- <dtml-in rec mapping> <dtml-let delivery="'current_delivery'+Cust_ID"> <dtml-var "REQUEST['delivery']"> </dtml-let delivery> </dtml-in rec mapping> Basically, i am just trying to access the first input field from above: <dtml-var expr="'current_delivery'+Cust_ID"> Can someone help me with the syntax please? What's the typical conversion from a TALES expression with spaces to a PythonScript argument?

Hello, How do you convert the spaces in a TALES expression? e.g. <td tal:content="repeat_object/person id">placeholder</td> to <td tal:content="python:container.script_id_converter(repeat_object.??)">pla ceholder</td> At the moment I'm using <td tal:define="tmp repeat_object/person id" tal:content="python:container.script_id_converter(tmp)">placeholder</td> but there must be a nicer way than that (probably a common one I've missed seeing in the Zope Book somewhere) Cheers, Simon Bayling

Problems installing the MySQL drivers

Hello, I try to install the Zope MySQL drivers, instructions from http://heanet.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/mysql-python/ ZMySQLDA-2.0.8.tar.gz I dowloaded the python driver and the Zope DA from http://sourceforge.net/projects/mysql-python I did a: bastet:~/MySQL-python-0.9.2 # python setup.py build bastet:~/MySQL-python-0.9.2 # python setup.py install (as root) I used my /usr/bin/python to compile it, the same I used to build Zope. All seemed fine. Zope start finished

Hello list, we have a local Zope installation on a laptop to present our product. Our problem is, that starting Zope lasts a relative long time and we have no feedback when our product is ready to work. Is there a possiblity to show the user e.g. a message box when zope and the product are ready to work and the user can start the presentation? For example is there a method that can be overwritten in order to do that? Many thanks in advance, Ulla.

I know that OSE is very complete and quite stable. On the other hand Twisted seems more Python and less C++, but I don't know how mature it is. It may be that they are not really comparable and that one will be much better suited to what I'm trying to do - will have to inverstigate . . .
