Hi , i'm running Zope 2.6.2 and i noticed FSCOUNTER (1.3.4) doesn not work on it . I can assume because a i got a Zope 2.6.1 working on the same machine to check it and it works on the 2.6.1 but not on 2.6.2 . The problem : It doesnt want to increase or to modify ( eg : if i try to give it a new value , it does not change anything , it stays as it is ... ) What kind of messages have i got to give you to see it together ? If you dont maintain it anymore , who is doing it ? Thanks a lot .

Hello there I am trying to learn how to pass variables from a data entry to a python script for processing. I appreciate if you can explain my error below or point me to some form processing python scripts. Note: I had read the Examples that came together with zope. TQ in advance. Hello there If I have form that has a long list of form variables, is there a shorter way to pass though variables to python script for processing instead of individual listing at the parameter list? TQ in advance.

Tainted strings. Any user-supplied string that contains certain characters is marked as tainted. Using REQUEST.form.get marks it as untainted, while REQUEST.get leaves it as it is. 3. Docstrings. Zope will not publish a method unless it has a docstring and begins with an alphanumeric character (i.e., not an underscore). Unless a method conforms, it will not be possible for any user to request it directly. Unpublished methods can still be called by other objects. 4. Persistence. Zope maintains persistence on strings and numbers just fine, but has no way of knowing if a list or mapping has changed. The self._p_changed assignment marks your object as changed so that the persistence machinery can do its work. There are other ways of accomplishing this, but I wanted to make sure you didn't get much further along without at least hearing about it. 5. You can return dtml (or zpt) objects. Never use a product to create significant amounts of HTML... that's as bad a sin as using dtml for heavy logic. :-) Before you go much further, I'd *highly* recommend reading the Zope Developer Guide. Zope is a quirky beast and there are difficulties lying in wait. And if you're not already a Python wiz, I'd dig into that more deeply too... there's a lot of OO voodoo just below the surface here and if you're not already fluent in how that works, you'll miss a lot of what's possible. This doesn't really answer your question, so... Use Python! I too used to use DTML for task such as this. After investing a few hours into using python scripts, I find them much simpler, easier to debug, and (much) easier to reuse. Use Keyword index. Be careful that if the search field is emprty, that index return nothing (empty result) instead of all result. So I had to use a different name in the form and check if it is empty. If so, I copy it in the REQUEST with the right name. ZCatalog and multivalued field

I have an object class in a Product which usually has only one (string) value for particular attribute, but sometimes can have more, which I plan to store as a list of strings. There is no limit to how many of these there could be, although in my present application there would probably not be more than 10. This isn't a problem except that I would like to be able to search a ZCatalog for objects which have a particular value,whether it is a string or an string element of a list. The range of possible values is essentially infinite. I can see how I could use a TextIndex to do this, but I am trying to figure out if there are any other options. I'm building this in 2.7b2 if that makes any difference. Any other ideas? Thanks, Matt Wilbert

Zope content not available

We have a Linux server that is running Apache and Zope for some web content. This server/system was set up some time ago by a person who is no longer at the company. As a further complication, we don't even have anyone on staff anymore who is a capable Linux admin. We have me. I know just enough to be able to make changes to web content, DNS and Firewall, but not true administration of this box or its services. Today the Zope-managed content is not available on the web. I have logged on to the host server and have restarted both Zope and Apache without effect. I know Zope is running because I can FTP to it on Port 8021 and can see the content there. I know this is a very vague request, but can someone help me with where to begin looking for the problem? Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks. Rob
