ERROR Zope.ZCatalog reindexIndex could not resolve an object from the uid

Hi all, I'm facing some trouble with a Plone Site. When trying to insert a new page I get an error complaining about some lost uid. I have tryied clearing uid_catalog's indexes: UID, id, and Title. Then I reindex those indexes, and in the event.log I got several errors: ERROR Zope.ZCatalog reindexIndex could not resolve an object from the uid '/path/to/the/object' Does anyone knows how to troubleshoot this? grufspaces, scripts and inherited permissions

Hello everybody, I created a group member and a group folder (using grufspaces), from where I run a python script. The result of this script is a n number of brain objects (indexed_file) indexed in portal_catalog. All object are correctly indexed, so I can search contents, but as a groupmember only. the question is: how can I modify (from the script) permissions of the brains objects in order to get them searchable from anybody? the main part of my script: for pub in context.query_05(idx_value=idx_value): object = '/query_06/' + pub.id + '/indexed_file' my_catalog.catalog_object(pub, object) thanks! Altered ZCacheable_manage?

HI all, I think about altering of ZCacheable_manage to show all cached variants of cache keys ( Names from the DTML namespace) with their times and invalidation of selected single variant. Do somebody have this kind of thing realised? Many thanks, J. Lukesh

Acquisition / proxying object

Hi *, I am trying to have a folderish object that acquires from a user object (ldapuserfolder). It should have its own properties and contents, but fall back to the ones of the ldap user. I have created an object, extending Folder, and it behaves nicely in zopectl debug. When I try to access it through e.g. a python script I get an: Error Type: Unauthorized Error Value: Unable to find __roles__ in the container and the container is not wrapped. Access to 'dn' of test, acquired through (LDAPProxy at /testfolder/ldapproxy), denied. I am sure its my lack of understanding of acquisition. I am trying to bascially put ldap user object 'on top' of the aquisition line (with the ldapproxy at the bottom), but obviously failing in doing so. Any ideas? Zope 2.11.x and 2.10.x

I want to install Zope 2.10.5 or 2.11.0-al on Mac OSX 10.5.2, which comes pre-installed with Python 2.5.1. Install docs for both say they don't work with 2.5. Does that mean they don't work with anything 2.5 and above, or only version 2.5 specifically? Has anyone been able to install either of these Zopes with Python 2.5.1? Zope 3 and Rails - a pragmatic and agile comparation (put the hype aside)

Hello, I come from a Rails background, been working with Rails for about 1 year and a half, it has been a great experience but my last project required me to use Plone as a base framework for the portal/application. I then started deeply studying Plone 3. Bought and read Martin's excellent book Professional Plone Development from cover to cover. Struggled with Zope concepts but almost always could grasp them by reading the other books from the Zope/Plone bookshelf or online articles/tutorials. It has been 3 months already. The project is almost done and I've learned to like Plone and Zope 2. However, what attracted me the most was Zope 3 and its elegant concepts and OOP patterns and this led me to question some things: * The differences in the approaches taken by Rails and Zope 3 to provide developer productivity, scalability and application maintability. Rails is productive, no doubt regarding this. However, I feel that it restricts me in the OOP side of things, hiding much of the OOP patterns from the developer. The "put there it will just work" philosophy often makes it hard (at least harder than if it were being implemented on Zope 3) to make more advanced, complex and specific things. I do believe in the agile methodology and I always follow it whatever I am working with Java, python, C or Rails. Rails just happens to be an out-of-the-box solution that has attract millions of developers becouse of its magic promises and easy learning-curve. I feel however, that Zope 3 with its Component Architecture is much more elegant and can be as productive as Rails AND provide better application scalability and maintability than Rails if you know what you are doing. I can't speak for Zope 2 though :) What do you think? Would you mind sharing your experiences and ideas regarding this subject? Cheers, Marcelo.

I understand and appreciate your responses. Finally got some things straightened out and after changing DA settings to point to real database servers (instead of localhost), and commenting things out that were calling unneeded parts, I am able to get our site up (on some pages) with yesterdays news stored in the Data.fs. I am able to view an actual news ZClass objects with our site header and footer wrapped around it. Not bad. That shows they do work. Long way to go but it's a start But, on the page that does the catalog lookup of the day's news stories, it is a blank page. No errors in the error_log.
