Hi there, I have in production a Zope server from many years now: - Zope 2.11.4-final, python 2.4.6 - 2.4.6 - ZEO with 3 clients via sockets on the same machine - running a custom CMS (not Plone based) Last weekend, without touching the server or the code, a strange problem starting to occur and is repeating since: - when I try to modify an object (e.g. only the title) the saved data is not available in the browser after that. If I look in the ZMI the transaction is there. If I refresh the page the modification appears - also happens on an add or a delete (the object is deleted bu still appears in the listing) My impression is that the save itself is handled by lets say client1 and then the redirect and render of the edit page by a different one - client2. I tried different things: 1. pack data fs and restart all clients and zeo 2. if i try to change the title of the object via ZMI Properties tab it works fine - I always see the changes. On our CMS edit page we do an explicit recatalog of the object after the save. I thought maybe the catalog is broken somehow so I updated it - problem still there. 3. I checked the data fs with fstest.py, also checked for broken BTreeFolders - no issues detected. 4. I put the production database on a development server without zeo, just a single zope instance - everything works just fine. So, I can reproduce the problem but now clue so far about the cause. Advice on Blob Storage?

This may be more of a zodb / relstorage question - I hope it's ok to ask on the Zope list. I'm seeing behavior using relstorage and blobs that I didn't expect: If I upload a large file, say 2 gigs, I am noticing that our SQL database also grows by 2 Gigs, along with the blob storage. After a pack, the space is reclaimed on the SQL side, and everyone is happy. FWIW - it's videos that are doing this. I am pretty sure it's the undo log that's growing, based on the fact that a pack reclaims the space. Can this behavior be turned off for a specific field or content type? So undo logs are preserved for everything BUT this monster of a content type? Seems strange to do this tho. Are there other alternatives, like calling .pack() directly on the field's storage after it's set? Our problem is that our sql database grows to a huge size between our weekly packs, and backups of the sql dumps are becoming unmanageable. Our blob backups are ready to deal with this kind of size, but not the sql backups. ---------- Going deeper down the rabbit hole, although I don't think it's relevant, is the fact that I hacked and replaced the storage class for the field. Instead of using AnnotationStorage - which I found used as default for ImageField - I intercept the data during storage.set(), ship it out to a separate storage facility, and replace the data with a happy message "This is not where your data is" which is then written to the blobs. It works just great - keeping our blob storage growth from going crazy. If you try to 'download' the file from Plone, you'll get the text file with the happy message. Now that I've been shown that the Blob Storage is functioning just fine, but the SQL storage size is going off the charts, I hope I'm not back at square one. The goal is to allow users to think they are uploading 4Gb videos into Plone, when under the covers, we're actually shipping the video files off to some fancy off-site storage. (Akamai) So we don't have to store them and back them up on-site, and our blob directories remain manageable in size. Zope 2: traversing and modifying DTM doc in folders?

Greetings, I have a developer here trying to fix a problem with some legacy Zope 2 (2.8.6) material. Basically, she is trying to change properties on a DTML document, but so far cannot get the script to recursively search through folders to act on every document in the hierarchy. Any advice is greatly appreciated! They are a few folders deep and the number of folders that contain the file is unknown, so I tried to use a recursive way to get access to every document. So this is what I did, I wrote a script named changeType with parameter "object", which is initially 0. Then when object is 0, just set object = context. If in "object" we found that there's another folder called f, just called changeType(f). The script is shown as below: #parameter object = 0 from Products.PythonScripts.standard import html_quote request = context.REQUEST RESPONSE = request.RESPONSE if object == 0: object = context folders = object.objectValues(['Folder']) for f in folders: fds = f.objectValues(['Folder']) if(len(fds) != 0): f.changeType(f) .......(methods to change format) But this causes an error: Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: ‘str’ object has no attribute ‘objectValues' I think the reason should be, it doesn't seen "object" or "context" as object and context but seen them just as strings. But I have no idea about how could I solve this or if there's any other way I can call a recursive method to get every DTML document in their respective subfolders. Please let me know if you have any suggestion/examples on Zope/found another error in my code/etc.

__bobo_traverse__ or similiar with python tales expression?

Hello fellow Zopees, the product we’re using (ZMS) allows methods as attributes to custom object models. These methodes (PythonScript) are created inside a metamanager container as „Wiki.mymethod“, where Wiki is the meta type of the custom object. The pathhandler method of these custom objects modifies __bobo_traversal__ for normal http requests and maps these non-existing methods in that context to existing methods in the metaobj_manager container using the context meta_id. Calling the same method from a PageTemplate or other PythonScript does not reflect that and - not surprisingly - returns an AttributeError: File "/opt/python/zope2-pip/lib/python2.7/site-packages/Products/PageTemplates/ZRPythonExpr.py", line 48, in __call__ return eval(self._code, vars, {}) File "PythonExpr", line 1, in <expression> AttributeError: dummyFunction Is there a way to modify traversal behaviour from the Product or somehow different? issue with authentication

Hello to all zope users....... I have been facing a problem with authentication in zope, i.e when i try to access the zope with *localhost:*8080/manage it is showing that the username and password , it is shown below..... [image: Inline image 1] even though i am giving correct username and password, it is showing that *you are not autherised person to access this resource ......(note:i have changed some check boxes in authentications in acl_users folder)* I hope that any body can help me to this issue.... Thanks in advance.....
