Handle "Unauthorized" error message
by Paolo Dina 04 Jul '03

04 Jul '03

Hi guys. I have a part of my site which is protected by password. All works fine and this is really a simple task with Zope(v.2.5.1), but now, how to prevent the unauthorized user to read the error message: Site Error An error was encountered while publishing this resource. Unauthorized You are not authorized to access this resource. blahblah How do i replace that with something more friendly?(a redirect to an error page would be great too). Thanks Paolo Dina P.S.: i know that Cookie Crumbler makes something similar, but i won't use it in my site.

Terminating signals in Zope 2.6.1 and OpenBSD?
by Johan Carlsson 04 Jul '03

04 Jul '03

Hi, I have problem in stopping Zope 2.6.1 on an OpenBSD. When using the .stop shell script in Zope 2.5.1 it brings down all processes, but in Zope 2.6.1 it doesn't kill anything. I have tried different signals mentioned in SIGNALS.txt (SIGTERM, SIGINT and SIGQUIT) without any result. Using -9 will kill of the first process but not the child which will be hanging. Any ideas how to get around this? mod_proxy static or dynamic?
by Jason Wertz 04 Jul '03

04 Jul '03

I'm trying to get my rewrite rules up and working and all is well if I just use the L or R options at the end of the rewrite such as... RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://www.mysite.edu:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/www.mysite.edu:80/VirtualHo… [R] RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://www.mysite.edu:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/www.mysite.edu:80/VirtualHo… [L] But since I want to proxy to hide the long VHM url I want to use the P option. Only problem is, this doesn't seem to work. I'm using Redhat 7.2 with Apache 1.3.27 with mod_proxy compiled as a module. Here's the full line that's not working. RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://www.mysite.edu:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/www.mysite.edu:80/VirtualHo… [L,P] The mod_proxy page says you need to have it compiled in statically to the server to work with rewrite rules, is this true...anybody ever have this same trouble? ImportError after upgrade to Zope 2.6.1 ...
by Marc G. Fournier 04 Jul '03

04 Jul '03

My knowledge of both python and Zope is pretty close to zero here, so please bear with me on what might be a most stupid question ... but ... Just upgraded Zope t o2.6.1 from 2.6.0 ... figured that would be nice and safe, but now the site doesn't start up with an error of: 2003-07-02T19:01:52 PANIC(300) z2 Startup exception Traceback (innermost last): File /usr/local/www/Zope/z2.py, line 498, in ? File <string>, line 1, in ? File /usr/local/www/Zope/lib/python/Zope/__init__.py, line 18, in ? ImportError: No module named FindHomes the module is in: # ls -lt `pwd`/Find* -rw------- 1 root wheel 2525 Jul 2 18:59 /usr/local/www/Zope/lib/python/App/FindHomes.pyc -rw-r--r-- 1 www wheel 2962 Nov 28 2001 /usr/local/www/Zope/lib/python/App/FindHomes.py and the offending line in z2.py is: import sys, os, App.FindHomes sys.path.insert(0, os.path.join(SOFTWARE_HOME, 'ZopeZODB3')) Am I missing something semi-obvious here? :( Thanks ...

Accessing acl_users in __init__() of Python Product
by Thomas Güttler 04 Jul '03

04 Jul '03

Hi! I need to access acl_users of the parent in the constructor of a python product. Acquisition seems to fail in this situation. Any hints? The function for creating the Python Product looks like this: def manage_addOOPServer(dispatcher, id=0, REQUEST=None): "Add a new OOPServer" oopserver=OOPServer(id) dispatcher._setObj(id, oopserver) Please CC to me, I am not on the list. thomas

Small annoyance with Zope, maybe with Mozilla as well.
by Alec Munro 04 Jul '03

04 Jul '03

Hi all, I've got an XHTML page that references external javascripts, and it seems that mozilla does not display single-tag javascript references properly (it treats it as an open javascript tag, and messes up the rest of the page). This may be to spec, I don't know it well enough to say. What I do know is that Zope seems to automatically turn <script></script> in to <script/>. I have a solution worked out for the moment, where I put a comment in between the tags, but this is not an ideal solution. Is there a setting in Zope somewhere that controls this? Or is it a bug that has been fix in a more recent version? My Zope version string is: "Zope 2.5.1 (binary release, python 2.1, linux2-x86), python 2.1.3, linux2" Thanks for anyone who may be able to shed some light on this. Alec Munro EOA Scientific Systems

Docs about ZTUtils...
by Gilles Lenfant 04 Jul '03

Hi, The online Zope doc is nearly silent about ZTUtils resources. Is there a real doc about this (Tree, Iterator, Batch) somewhere with some examples ? Thanks in advance. --Gilles

CookieCrumbler and http basic auth
by Ben Schy 04 Jul '03

04 Jul '03

Hello, I am new to Zope and new to this list. I am playing with a zope site on freezope.org trying to figure out how to handle authentication. I have read the Zope Book and have an understanding of the security/user/role setup, but I seem to have hit a block. I want to use forms to process the login and logout, so I installed a cookiecrumbler in the same folder that holds my acl_user folder. Now I am able to get to the login_form page and input my user and pw, but then during the redirect to the logged_in page, I still get the http basic authentication popup. Everywhere I look for help on cookiecrumbler, all I see is that I just need to "Just add a CookieCrumbler instance to the folder where your acl_users is located"... which I have done. Am I missing something? Thanks! Ben

mysql connections in External Methods
by Dennis Allison 04 Jul '03

04 Jul '03

I have an external method that opens its own connection to MySQL and performs a few reads and updates, then I close the connection. Apparently closing the connection does not really close things off as the connections are persistent. Eventually, I run out and things grind to a halt. Is there a way to force the connection to really die? (The obvious alternative is to either have a single connection which persists in the external method or to fetch the connection from Zope, either of which will work, of course.)
