Enabling Stack Traces in 2.6.1
by Roy S. Rapoport 07 Jul '03

07 Jul '03

Greetings, I'm a new Zope user, brought over by a friend (and soon-to-be coworker). I've been using Python for a while (~6 months or so). I ran into a problem last night that involved a Python script failing; the Zope error message referred to viewing the source of the page to view the stack trace, but there was no stack trace there; thinking that I had somehow misinstalled Zope on my Solaris (9) system, I installed Zope on my W2K box ... with exactly the same results. Aforementioned friend is scratching his head in puzzlement, so I figured I'd post and ask if I'm missing something obvious in trying to get access to the stack trace. -roy

You can use netstat -nap to see which process is using that port.

ZCTextIndex parse error
by Tim Hicks 07 Jul '03

07 Jul '03

Hi, I've got a zope 2.6.1 (on solaris if that matters) and a ZCatalog setup with a ZCTextIndex. I also have a search/results pair of page templates that provide an interface for users to actually search the catalog. All is well with most sorts of queries, except that inputing something like 'word1 NOT word2' throws up a "Parse Error" "Token 'EOF' required, 'NOT' found". The strange thing is that using 'word1 -word2' does work, as does 'word1 AND word2'. Sorry, I'm not able to provide a full traceback just at the moment as I don't have access to the root zope folder - and consequently the error_log *. Does anybody have any idea what's going wrong? cheers, tim * Which is a little niggle of mine. I understand the reasons for not appending the error traceback to the returned page, but it would be *very* handy to be able to add error_logs further down the tree so that developers can examine the errors without requiring access to the root zope folder.

LowConflictConnection does not quiet SESSION KeyErrors
by Roché Compaan 07 Jul '03

07 Jul '03

Hi there We're using Zope 2.6.1 with the low conflict connection patch applied to TemporayFolder mentioned in http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zope-dev/2003-March/019081.html and collector issue #848. I noticed that Zope 2.6.2b3 already has this patch applied. Unfortunately our error log is still rife with SESSION KeyErrors. We have a number of functional tests that test our app over HTTP that we run a couple of times a day and 4 out of 5 times we have to start all over because of session key errors. The error still occurs in "get" in Transience.py which seems to be same as what is mentioned in collector issue #848. File /usr/local/zope/Zope-2.6.2b3-src/lib/python/Products/Sessions/SessionDataManager.py, line 93, in getSessionData (Object: session_data_manager) File /usr/local/zope/Zope-2.6.2b3-src/lib/python/Products/Sessions/SessionDataManager.py, line 180, in _getSessionDataObject (Object: session_data_manager) File /usr/local/zope/Zope-2.6.2b3-src/lib/python/Products/Transience/Transience.py, line 175, in new_or_existing (Object: session_data) File /usr/local/zope/Zope-2.6.2b3-src/lib/python/Products/Transience/Transience.py, line 807, in get (Object: session_data) KeyError: 1057558960 Any idea when this will be fixed? -- Roché Compaan Upfront Systems http://www.upfrontsystems.co.za

Zope DTML zSQL Select from Oracle insert into MS Access
by Support Faults 07 Jul '03

07 Jul '03

Hi, I've been trying (rather unsuccessfully I might add) to select some data from an oracle table, and insert it into another MS Access table. I'm trying to do this via a dtml method and a couple of zSQL queries. Has anyone here found a good way of achieving this? I've been trying many variants... this is my latest... TheForm <form name='form1' action='meth_step'> <tr> <td>Start Date</td> <td><input type='text' name='start_date'></input> <td>End Date <input type='text' name='end_date'></input> <input type='submit' name='Go'></input></td> </form> Oracle Select select H.mobile_no as mobile_number, H.DEALER_NO as dealer_code, SCD.ENTRY_DATE as date_added from jan.sc_detail SCD, jan.handset H where SCD.handset_code = H.code and SCD.comments = 'SERVICE ADDED' and SCD.ENTRY_DATE > ('<dtml-var start_date>') and SCD.ENTRY_DATE < ('<dtml-var end_date>') and (H.status = 'A' or H.status = 'B') and (H.DEALER_NO NOT BETWEEN '0000' and '0004') Dtml method ('meth_step') MS Access Insert INSERT into mConnectList ( dealer_code, mobile_number, date_added ) values ( ) Thanks Julian.

Error/Bug with password management II - Scripted user creation
by Samir Mishra 07 Jul '03

07 Jul '03

Fixed 1 problem, now stuck with another - I have a web form, ManageUsers, I use to run a script to create new usernames (w/password). After creating a new username, I restart my browser and try and log in using the new username. I get authorization errors. If I log in as a Manager, go to the acl_users folder, click on the new username, and next click save, WITHOUT changing anything, restart browser, try accessing the page with the newly created username, everything works as expected. ? Is Zope not committing the changes? Then I shouldn't be able to see the newly defined username in the management screen. Right? The only thing I think unique in my form ManageUsers is that it calls itself, i.e., <form action="ManageUsers" ... > and I use DTML to run the appropriate Python scripts. Again, no clue as to what's going on... TIA. Regards, Samir.
