SQL DNS Headaches

I have created the system DNS, and when I create a new ODBC connection it shows in the list. I select it and save the page. When I try to open the connection I get a 404. I've tried using a DNS-less connection with this string: DRIVER={SQL Server};Trusted_Connection=Yes;DATABASE=Communique;SERVER=******;Description=SQL on Zope But I get an invalid connection string error. I can't seem to take off the description with out generating a 404. In any case, I've never connected successfully. I've been told about using external methods, but I'm charged with showing my department how easy Zope is. I don't think using an external method qualifies. rh9 + zope 2.6.1 = no response

Hi Zope Users! After the upgrade of my box from redhat 8 to redhat 9 my zope 2.6.1 doesn't work any more. I didn't installed zope rpms, so all zope binaries are as beftore. The box is a smp i686 with 2.4.20-8smp kernel and glibc 2.3.2-11.9. When I connect to http://mybox:8080/ I got sometimes the 'zope welcome screen', but mostly not. Trying to access sth else the server does not answer as well - the browser is waiting infinitely for the server response. There is no error message in the logs or somewhere else. I've downloaded 2.6.1 sources, compiled and installed - no success as well. Always no response from server without any error message. I ran out of ideas what could it be and how to fix it. That's true, the expression <img alt="..." src="..."> is plain HTML, but in my case if you write the following thing in a DTML document: <img src="name_of_a_python_script"> the browser doesn't call the python script to display the image. How can I put this problem right? But pay attention to what's going on in the example anyway. That's not a templating language of any sort: it's plain HTML. It's making the Python Script the 'src' attribute of an 'img' tag. Zope feature list

I'm currently working on updating the FreeBSD port for Zope/Plone. The list of features that was referenced in the FreeBSD port was outdated (references to a non-existing zope.org:8080 URL). Here is the old list: Database Integration Content Management SQL and HTML in Harmony Builtin Objects Multiple Data Sources Document Templates Publish Databases Web to Objects Application Development Integrated Object Database DTML Scripting Managed Through the Web External Methods Direct URL Access to Objects Please help me to improve this list. What features should definitly be mentioned (e.g. zope page templates, web dav support, products such as plone, ...). I was surprised I couldn't find an elaborate feature overview on zope.org or zope.com. Am I missing something here? The only info I could find was the http://www.zope.org/WhatIsZope and a pdffile on http://www.zope.com/Products/AboutZope Pieter

Zope Best Possible Installation

Hei, Say I wanted to use Zope and I had enough money to buy a fairly good server to run it on. Further, say I could choose the OS I wanted (Linux or Microsoft) And further, say I wanted Zope (some time in the future) to communicate with some other programs that I am yet not aware of (these could be an sql-database, some math-programs and more). What would then be the best Zope installation I could make? Would it be Zope with Linux and Apache? (This might be an hopeless question, but well try :-)) Best regards! Børge Kjeldstad

combining form variables and URL values

I'm quite sure how I should be thinking about this. I have a page creates a report based on parameters that are in the URL. This is important because the user must be able to bookmark the location with the parameters included. For the sake of this example let's say the url looks like this- http://www.myserver.com/news/index_html?UID=11234;skin=modern On that page 'UID' and 'skin' are available to dtml-var. I have a form on that page that take 2 additional input fields from the user(using formulator if that matters). I need to then pass all four values into a dtml method for validation, then into a zsql method. Unfortunately 'UID' and 'skin' are only in the namespace of the initial page, thus this doesn't work. I think the solution would be to make some hidden fields in the form and set their values according to the values on 'UID' and 'skin'. Then once the form results are passed through the validator all 4 values will be available to the zsql method. Is this the most direct way to accomplish this goal?

can't start zope after upgrade Please help !!

Hi, I use zope with a Debian testing/sarge. The last running version of zope was 2.6.1-4. The last upgrade proposed was 2.6.1-7 . The post-install script of zope didn't work and the install process failed, but I tried to end the install process by hand... The other packages of the server are up to date. This new version of the zope package changes the location of apps, so I created a new instance (zopectl create), moved the data files to the new location /var/lib/zope/instance/default/var/ , restarted the server. The zope server seems to be running : the port 9173 is open and listening, and I can see the connection with netstat -ap when I try to connect it. The issue is that no page is served : when I ask for a page, I receive 0 byte in answer (the connection times out a _long_ time later). The /var/log/zope/default/Z2.log file is still empty. I don't see any error message. One zope process and several python2.1 processes are running. My production data are on this server and I don't wand to loose them... I have a copy of the data files before crash, but I don't know if I can reuse them. Could anyone help me to restart zope ?

Mathematics, fortran an zope

Hei, Qeustion 1: Say I had som program (written in for instance fortran), that did som advanced calculations (like for instance calculating the resistance of a ship hull in water); Would I then be able to use zope to make som web interface to this fortran program? Question 2: I know it is possible to do mathematics with python. But is it also easy to combine zope with more specialized math programs like for instance Matlab? WebDAV + MS Word 2000 Error

Hi! I am trying to get WebDAV (aka Windows "Webfolders") to work with Zope. When I try to save a MS Word document to a webfolder on my Zope installation, I get the following error: Traceback (innermost last): Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 98, in publish Module ZPublisher.mapply, line 88, in mapply Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 39, in call_object Module webdav.NullResource, line 61, in HEAD Not Found: The requested resource does not exist. I am using: SERVER: Zope 2.6.1 CMF 1.3.1 Plone 1.0.1 Linux CLIENT: MS Word 2000 MS Windows 2000 Has anyone managed to get WebDAV to work with MS Word? Thanks, Niclas
